"The student was told she was under arrest for disturbing school and given instructions which she again refused," Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told WISTV. "The video then shows the student resisting and being arrested."

In the brief video, filmed by a student, Fields tells the girl, "either you're coming with me or I'll make you." When she does not comply, the officer grabs her arm before putting his arm around her neck, tossing the student out of the desk and onto the ground. Fields can then be seen dragging the girl across the room, pinning her down with her arms behind her back. Students in the foreground sit silently as the incident occurred.

That cop is extremely aggressive. Not sure what his problem is.

Can't even study while black.

Unless this girl was a serial killer or was the Heisenberg of her school, there's no reason for this kind of treatment. The worst part of this is, the cop has a history of harming students. How can you have a history of harming students and still have a job?

Cop is a piece of shit.

The silence in the classroom almost made me weep, this is what society wants when they demand for protests that dont disrupt their drive to a metal concert, a quiet calm death for people being treated as less than human.

It's likely they were scared that the cop is going to go after them next if they were to do something.

Why are the police even in the school? Why can't the administration handle this? They did when I was going to high school. Now they puss out and call the cops on a child. Not sure how her refusal to leave class threatens anyone's safety to the point of calling the police.

But hey, they took down the confederate flag...everything's alright!

Honestly I'd do the same. Cop like that, I'd be scared shitless.

It's mindblowing that he still has the job, must have good connections.

He got the complexion for the protection...

Apparently according to former students he's done this multiple times (to a pregnant girl once) and it wasn't captured before, because the school has a strict mobile policy.

Some schools now have an officer or two on campus during school hours.

Just ridiculous. She could have been seriously hurt.

The worst part is you know that there's 0 accountability on the cop. He'll get some slap on the wrist and be on his way.

I understand this but having never lived in this type of situation I wouldn't be scared. I would expect everyone to be like holy fuck dude and start yelling shit. I can't even imagine the police in a school to start with. If they actually had to call the police it would serious enough that most likely the classroom and maybe even school be evacuated. A cop would just never do this because it would be his ass.

The cops were called on here, that must mean her disturbance and reluctance to leave the classroom were legitimate disorderly conduct. How else can the police expel a problematic teen?

We used to havethis one guy back in high school who refused to listen to the teacher, because she interwened during a fight with other student. The cops came and dragged his ass outside. It was not a pretty sight.

People are shocked in this type situations, it's very common occurence, because they never expected such event to happen during their classes. You just go numb for a moment and watch the situation unfold.

Holy shit what kinda place do you live in when that shit goes down in a school and no one bats an eye.
SOUTH CAROLINA.

Same place the church shooting happened. Same place the cop shot the guy who reached for his driver's license. Same place the Confederate Flag flew on the State House grounds. Same place where Walter Scott was shot in the back running from police.

That's fucking aggressive.

I wonder how the cop will react if he sees someone of his size doing that to his daugther or nieces and thinking it is appropriate. What the fuck.

How else? Guess no way but to lock her by the neck and then slam and drag her.

More patience would be good. She wont stay there for 4 hours.

What would he have done if it was a big guy? Shoot him? Tase him? This was about physically dominating the bratty teen.

People are ok with cops going from 0 to 1000 with no provocation?

Heh, you went to a nicer area than I did, starting from High School we'd have cops on campus.

if you look closely he is trying to pull her out of her seat, but she is bolded and refuses to. Don't be absurd, you don't tase until necessary. It's very difficult to deal with teenagers who remains passive aggressive towards you.

again the absurdity of these comments. Do we know what happened here previously? maybe he asked her five times to come with him and she refused. Do you just carry on? "okay fine, just sit there I'll wait." That's not how it works. School is an institution, not a psych office. They have a right to make you leave the classroom, especially if you behave wrongfully. They're not going to sit there and talk you out of the room.

Seeing a cop doing this in a school I went too would be like Jason Voorhees doing the same thing. People would not be just sitting back they would be freaking, most would be getting the fuck out of there, some would be trying to fight.

As a parent, that hurt to watch. It hurts even more to see other adults/parents condone it. It hurts that it doesn't surprise me.
