I will never understand the motivation behind bands so big they need to be split into seperate "teams", each in the double digits.
 
It may surprise a lot of people to realize a lot of children entertainers are not children themselves, but just look younger than their age.

anyway i dont know if Corey Feldman is the best source to judge how bad things are. it might have been worse years ago but today i would imagine studios make and effort to make sure shit like this doesnt happen. a pedophile lawsuit would be costly and likely destroy a company in todays world.

My mistake. But honestly it's hard to know when people are being serious with this, as you said yourself it's pretty ridiculous at times.
 
I thought it was well known that a lot of people whore themselves out or are forced into terrible positions to be famous. Its why some crappy actor that no one likes gets pushed hard at times. Blake Lively has been Harvey Weinstein's bitch for example.
 
This is just me (Can't speak for anyone else) But I'm at an age now where I'll always see girls like Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift as children, even though they're being highly sexualized and legal everywhere. They still have that…child like look. I could never look at any of them sexually. Ugh.

So the problem isn´t pedophilia, but child molestation. Pedophilia here is as much of a problem as heterosexuality when linked to rape.

Seriously, I start to feel like people *enjoy* shitting on pedophiles, without realizing what they´re doing. While they´re proceeding with their modern day-witch hunt, the real criminals continue their horrible crimes. But beware of some peaceful guys that will never do anything and deserve our pitty because of their societal incompatible sexual attraction. *shakes head*

That's what I always think when I read these threads. Like, the amount of people who come out of the woodwork to loudly proclaim they find every 16 year old girl to look like a prepubescent child and the thought of any sexual attraction to someone younger than 20 makes them ill. Really?

On topic: Though I have no idea if Feldman is telling the truth, it sadly wouldn't surprise me to hear just how fucked up Hollywood can be. When part of your town's image and history is built on the premise of teenage girls and boys literally running away from home and fleeing to Southern California for fame based partly on their looks, it doesn't take a genius to realize that will create a billion opportunities for exploitation. But again, IMO, there is still miles of difference between some Hollywood producer who bangs a 16 year old, vs one who molests an 8 year old. Those are very different things.

At the very least pedophiles create a market for child porn. At the very worst they molest kids. I don't think you're going to find much sympathy for these poor souls.

I doubt it. Gretchen Mol could not get huge roles because of Weinstein. A young actor turning down someone with power could have a really hard time breaking out if that person decides to blacklist them.
 
Don't go west exposed this point to me and it did much better than feldman did. This issue never will be fixed because society will never go after the culprits at the top of the pyramid only the abusers on the bottom.

It's a worthwhile question either way, but his refusal to name names strikes me as cowardly, even if personally rational.

That's why I said that it was personally rational but still cowardly. He could help a generation of kids escape this kind of mistreatment and abuse, but he chooses to think first and foremost about his own personal welfare. It's understandable, but I still think it should be condemned, if only to maybe embolden somebody else who is willing to name names and situations to come forward.

Naming people would do nothing. They have the power, wealth and connections to discredit and beat someone like Feldman. And then they would crush him.

The only type of victim that would have a chance is a young kid that comes forward right now.

People tend to take things like sexual abuse accusations pretty seriously. I don't think this is the case for this particular crime.
 
Feldman is obviously using the law enforcement term, pedophilia as those who act on their desires.

If a large percentage of the pedophiles in Hollywood kept their desires in their head, there wouldn't be much of a problem would there?
 
Also, I really think pedophilia is better explained as a maladjustment to one's own sexual orientation rather than an orientation itself. One is obviously attracted to other children of whatever gender when one is a child as well, and an inability to move beyond that attraction to children developed when young strikes me as a developmental retardation of some kind, not a legitimate sexual preference unto itself. I don't think it's comparable to homosexuality or bisexuality in that regard; maybe it could be a fetish, but even that seems a bit generous, to me.

By choice. Even discounting rape and statutory rape, waiting until 18 has to be uncommon? I was a late bloomer as a teen because it wasn't until 17 I lost mine (that being in a country where the legal age is 16).
