CoroCoro Pokemon Info: New Zygarde Forms, New Anime (XY & Z)

Yeah, Mega Sceptile is just looking behind him like he does on the official art, because he can fire off his tail like a missile. It's his battle stance.

Kopyii is confused because he took it literally...that Noivern's official art is facing left, not right like on the poster, but Noivern is still oriented forward (that is, Noivern fights by facing forward). Mega Sceptile's shown often in official poses showing off his tail and looking behind him, because he fights with his tail.

Also, Noivern's official art doesn't have it facing away like Mega Sceptile's does, so I have no idea what you're talking about

It's facing in the exact opposite direction it is on the poster, which they obviously did for it to fit the theme of every single other good Pokemon on the cover.

And Sceptile and Noivern are lurching directly at each other with their eyes seemingly locked, if the purpose of doing that was to show that they were opposing each other then they could not have made it more clear.

As watch da birdie said, I was talking about the orientation, not the direction. Mega Sceptile is always oriented with it's BACK to the enemy in it's battle stance

actually not really

Noivern is looking up like Talonflame

Sceptile is looking at his behind, his eyes are looking towards the lower left and not towards Noivern

it's most likely Ash's since he's the only one currently with a Sceptile, has an open space in his team and the only other person this season who could possibly get one, Shota, is no where on the poster

Yeah, Sceptile is clearly not looking at Noivern, he's looking behind himself, as is usual in it's battle stance, sinceM-Sceptile fights by firing off it's tail

Pokemon Z this holidays. Can it happen??

While it's theoretically possible for them to start up a campaign in September/October for a late November/Early December release, I don't see it as likely. I expect an October reveal and a February/March date.

Based on this linkedIn, I'm kind of wondering what's the other game Game Freak is working on. The mystery game is pretty clearly Pokemon Z given the similar role to his roles in Pokemon ORAS and XY, but I wonder what the other game they would be working on.

Ash's missing dad is clearly Silver. We all know it. They made it ambiguous as crap, but there's no way in hell he would have reacted how he did when Richie mentioned Ash if he wasn't in some way related to Ash.

Anyway, part of me is thinking Z/whateveritis was meant to be out next month, but they delayed it for some reason and couldn't change the anime in time (it's done months in advance) so just thought "screw it" and continued this path as a lead up. But then that doesn't fly with Hoopa Unbound being in ORAS in November, as they'd have been able to change things at that point. I just can't work out what they're doing.

I think they meant to announce it earlier, but they decided to go with Pokémon Go first and give it time to breathe before showing another new game. Maybe Pokémon Go was supposed to be announced earlier too, but Iwata's passing pushed it a bit.

Having the anime version of the rival and semi-villain from GS as the father of the anime version of Red from RB is some funky stuff.

But yea, Silver is Ash's father.

Considering how they have the Mystery Dungeon game coming out November, it's highly doubtful. Way too late in the game for them to announce it for this year. I mean, yeah, games can get announced close to release and all, but it's not common.

You see I was thinking that maybe they had a Pokémon direct planned but Iwata's death force them to change it.

Who is that guy Ash walks by at the end?

The guy who Ash will end up loosing against at the Pokémon league. :D

I can't see it. Could you copy & paste it here in img form?

I think he was a part of whatever they did for the XY reveal, but I think that was just because it was a regular direct. I don't think Pokemon's had its own, full-on Direct yet.
XY was announced in a Pokémon-specific Direct. There was another one close to release with Iwata as well.

i own every pokemon game from green to rumble world but i might pass on Z because i was already tired of having not enough mons in X and Y. no need to play with them a third time.

I love it when people suggest catching them all was easier gen 1, because even with almost 5 times the Pokemon, it's still way easier now than it was back then

Seriously. Breeding and GTS alone are a Godsend. Combined with Kalos's general biodiversity as well as the Battle Chateau, it was surprisingly easy to make my first ever living Pokedex this Gen. I wouldn't even consider doing that for Gen I. Maybe Gen II if I'm in a particularly good mood.

You mean you think that Z was going to be out this Holiday? Eeeh, not sure about it, since they were still making Super Mystery Dungeon anyway. Also, I wonder if Iwata was working with Masuda on a Direct about Pokemon Go: it sounds strange, but the fact they had a conference and Iwata was so deeply involved with it that Masuda wanted to announce the app with him

To tell you the truth, I have been working on this project for about two years along with Nintendo's Mr. Iwata, and I really hoped we could make the announcement together. That desire is part of why I decided to hold this conference today.

Also, this is something I was wondering myself whenever I saw this topic about CoroCoro: do they usually tease in a specific way when the next issue contains first (even scarce) details about the next major videogame in the franchise? We saw they teased infos on Zygrade forms, and anime too, but I suppose they did that for games in the past too. Masuda himself hypes games' reveals slightly before they happen, doesn't he?

I'd guess we'll have to wait another month to see if Pokémon Z is announced already...otherwise the suspicion the announcement is later than usual due to an element that can't be talked about (NX) will still be present.

GameFreak doesn't work on the Mystery Dungeon games.

This is how I think it will go down with the Zygarde forms in Z.

You'll play through the regular story facing both Yveltal and Xerneas along the way. You'll get some sort of special stone or key item from each.

Then you'll go hunt down the legendary Zygarde and face him during the climax of the story, similar to when you faced Giratina in Platinum.

It'll be a three stage boss battle. First you fight the the 10% forms in a 5-on-1 horde battle. When defeated they merge into the 50%form. When defeated again, the 50% form steals they key items you got from Yveltal and Xerneas unlocking the Perfect form.

When you defeat the perfect form, it reverts into the Zygarde Core, allowing you to capture it. Then during the post-game after defeating the Elite four, you can wander around Kalos collecting Zygarde cells allowing you to recreate the more powerful forms. And you also get a choice of catching either Yveltal or Xerneas.

I definitely don't think it'll be a starter. Although I bet doing a "Zygarde" run will be popular. That would be where you beat the game upload Zygarde core to Pokemon bank, and then start a new game playing it through from the start with a Zygarde.

Assuming Z was supposed to release this year, surely they must be working on something else for the 20th anniversary? I doubt they'd let that go past without a celebratory game of some sort, and I don't think Pokken or Super Mystery Dungeon really fit that role.

Some people seem to think that the XY&Z anime is a red herring and Gen VII will be out next year instead because of that timeline from the GO announcement, the 20th anniversary and that Game Freak is trying to "surprise people". I don't agree with that at all because the anime is basically a marketing tool and if they wanted to use Zygarde as a plot point, they wouldn't have went to the effort of making anime-exclusive forms and would have just used 50% Zygarde.

This also isn't the first time forms have been revealed before a game announcement, see Origin Giratina. The fact that XY&Z is so blatant is probably because they're aware that it's obvious. The games could still be something like XZ and YZ as opposed to just a regular third version. You could say that Zygarde's new forms would just debut in the Gen VII games but that seems like a complete throwaway. I don't see it being DLC either as I don't think XY/ORAS are even built to support DLC that's brand new (as opposed to events which can be made based on the existing code).

That does make me curious about the movie though. It would be weird for Zygarde to be in the main anime and the movie in the same year since the two haven't been directly connected since the first movie. Volcanion will likely be in it but will be officially revealed later because that's how TPC likes to do things.

Zygarde won't necessarily be in the movie. The initial teasers for Pokemon movies are rather infamous for having little to nothing to do with the final movie.

With how the timing seems to be working out, I wouldn't be too surprised if the next movie actually focused on a Gen VII Pokemon (a la movies 2, 5, 8, 9, and 13)

With how heavily the anime is featuring Zygarde and its formes, I'd be outright surprised if it was the focus of the next movie as well. The movies are really struggling as it is, and I'd be amazed if a Pokémon and storyline they so recently used in the anime was a big part of the plot.

I'm thinking Volcanion and any new forme it has being the focus, alongside some kind of Gen VII mascot- think Lucario or Zoroark. Hell, that's kind of the strategy they ended up using with the Genesect movie (focus on the last generation's last Mythical Pokémon alongside a big tease for the next generation), so I wouldn't be surprised at all.

The other route is using a Mythical Pokémon that hasn't been seen for a while as well as a new Pokémon (see pairing Mew with Lucario, or Celebi with Zoroark). Volcanion, Jirachi and a Gen VII Pokémon, anyone?

Are most the previews really that ambiguous? The only one I remember being completely different was the Zoroark movie where Ho-Oh and Lugia were shown instead. There was Regigigas for the Giratina movie, but it technically showed up there.

I do agree that Zygarde has a good chance of not having a prominent role in the movie and Volcanion will be the main focus. I definitely think Gen VI is getting another game next year but I'm not sure about a Gen VII Pokemon as the only reason why Lucario got its own movie so early is because Gen IV was supposed to release in 2005. We'll likely get news on it by December anyway.
