Corocoro: Pokemon XY information trickling out

It's moe. With the big watery eyes and cutesy appearance.

That's not what makes something moe. Certain characteristics are generally prevalent in moe, and I don't think any of what Ninfia is fits into that. It fits more into what the younger female Pokemon fans would like, and not the otakuite moe fanbase.

I never really equated Eevees with natural elements, I think those were the evolutions we got at first because they are the easiest to design around. I mean, say there's a new Dragon type Eevee. Do you think that also would not stand out? Or Ghost type?

They have been of natural elements, but I also mean natural in-general. Ghosts and Dragons are natural creatures, but bowties and ribbons are man made decorations to try to make oneself look more 'pretty' or 'handsome'.

How does something that has a trend of being normal, that is organic and normal, go into having organic bowties? It doesn't add up.

seriously though wouldn't this make like the vast majority of "cute" pokemon moe, am I walking in on some kind of running joke here?

This is the Pokemon world, though. What is organic in our world and what is organic in their world is different. I mean, we have living egg Pokemon. We have Pokemon made of fire. Look at Mr Mime. He looks like he is wearing clothes. Hitmonchan is wearing what looks like boxing gloves & clothes.

The move on the left screenshot that Ninfia is using looks like swift. I'm gonna go ahead and say Normal.

edit: Also the game looks damn good visually. Pokemon models look like Pokedex 3D quality, which I guess should have been expected.

What people are referring to are not Pokemon that are cute, but the heart bowties and ribbons.

I won't defend that aspect because I think it's silly on those two, but what I will say is that it still doesn't explain the trend of natural Eevee into this. I mean, what is natural clearly isn't a man made object in their world, there had to have been some kind of...mutation, but mutation with these objects after a trend was set all the way into Gen IV doesn't add up I don't think.

Although to compare them to Mr. Mime and Hitmonchan, Mr. Mime is a mime, Hitmonchan is a boxer, this Pokemon is a dog with organic heart shaped bowties and ribbons. What is it suppose to be? That is the difference between Mr. Mime and Hitmonchan compared to Ninfeon.

"My plush creative juice is dry, I need that spark, that inspiration that only a possible new Eeveelution would give, but like that would ever... JACKPOT!"

*18 hours later*

"MY MASTERPIECE!!!"

Why does it have to be something related to the real world? You would never be able to mind lots of Pokemon just because they aren't something that relate to the real world.

NEVER!

Seriously though, it's like they just wanted to put something in there to troll people into thinking it's a normal donut. It's evil I tell you.

I am eating evil right now and it's delicious!
Chocolate filled doughnuts are the best though.

On the subject of Ninfia. I like it a lot. Not sure why people don't like it really. It's very similar in design to previous Eeveelutions.

The addition of Mewtwo to the Genosect movie is a great idea. Both Pokemon were born off of experiments by evil teams so they relate well.

Is there more info incoming or did we get all of it?

That's probably all of it. There should be some more information on Pokemon Smash this weekend.

It doesn't, but why is it using stuff from the real world as an organic decoration? At least Garbodor is a full mutation of what it is.

Then they are natural in that world? Magnemite has magnets and a screw on it. Does it really matter?

Never tried chocolate filled ones, they probably taste good I guess. I was talking about strawberry filled ones. Those are evil.

So, have we discussed the fact that a reference to this character has been in the Eevee movie logo the whole time, but nobody realised?

Because you know what else is there that nobody seems to be paying much attention to? Those stars. Could there be a star themed Eeveelution to be revealed soon?

(I still like the female only evolution where the 2 bowties represent XX chromosomes, with a XY themed male evolution incoming - but maybe it can be both XY themed AND star themed somehow)

EDIT: Beaten by a minute. Great minds think alike and all that.

You're late, man ~_^

But I like the way you're thinking

Edit: Beaten by you're "beaten". Damn. does it ever ends?

The stars are for Espeon. :l

The purple character the stars are attached to is definitely for Espeon, but what of the stars themselves? They're pretty randomly placed there, as far as I know Espeon has never really been associated with stars (apart from maybe the whole line learning Swift)

I'm pretty indifferent to this design but it's unmistakably from the Eevee mould, the only "tradition" i'm seeing bucked so far is its mystery typing situation.

Regarding this whole organic/not organic thing, it's pretty much on the same level as Delibird's sack tail and Cinccino's fur scarf, I mean these ribbons and bows or whatever are the same colour as the rest of its body, seems like an odd thing to get hung up over but each to their own.

Well espeon is the sun pokemon and the sun is a star....tho that's a huge stretch lol.

I feel like the middle bow where Espeon is is for Ninfia, then Espeon goes in the right in that blank spot.

That's what I tried to say I just couldn't get the words hyphen and bow when I wrote it.

But again, why would Espeon be associated with stars?
Maybe it's just the font though. But as anything seems carefully thought, I still wonder.

Stars are associated with the cosmos/cosmic powers, which itself is associated with Psychic types. I don't think the stars mean much.

ok :(

The picture was made before Ninfia was announced but yes I agree.

It initiated the rumors about a new eeveelution. It is not a coincidence.

This is a good point too. Just because the bow is there doesn't mean it's for Ninfia. Because if you look at the order of the eevee colors, why put Espeon at the end? And the coloring of the bow matches Espeon more than Ninfia, and it also makes more sense to have Espeon next to Umbreon.

But the sun is only one star and espeon letter have two... just kidding.

By the way, espeon can use swift and have the same color of the letter.

you're kidding with me. Ninfia have two huge bow and are you saying that this thing represent espeon...

the pink bow letter have the same color theme for psychic pokémon in the menu

Just because it's a bow doesn't mean it represents Ninfia. That hyphen has to be there, and they decided to turn it into a bow for the Ninfia reveal. Why does it make sense to have all of the Eevee colors match up in order in which they were revealed and their respective gens, then just take Espeon (which is Gen 2 and should be next to Umbreon) and stick it at the end?

I'll be honest here; I'm kind of bummed out at all the people hating Ninfia on principle just because it's new or "different." The cries that it has destroyed the Eevee line (when all we know is its appearence; seriously) are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top and a bit childish (pre-damage control: not calling out Kokonoe or anyone else on this board; I've seen much worse elsewhere).

If you don't like it; that's fine. But give it a chance before you cry foul of a Pokémon and Generation that we are still 8 months away from experiencing, and don't fabricate reasons to hate it just because it's new.
