Corocoro: Pokemon XY information trickling out

If you don't like it; that's fine. But give it a chance before you cry foul of a Pokémon and Generation that we are still 8 months away from experiencing, and don't fabricate reasons to hate it just because it's new.

It's not even that it's new, I think it just looks bad period

I'd probably like it if it didn't have the ribbons and streamers all over it, I do like Victini after all :/

Not when you have idiots praising that "Gen 1 and Gen 5" image as shown below.

this is funny cuz its true

wut? Hell no. Notice how bland Garchomp is and how terrible they try to mimic "overdesign-ness" of Gen 4 but completely fail to do so? It smells of a Genwunner trying to be clever but failing to do so.

This is a really cool image.

Cool to make a valid point on how "Gen 1 is superior design" people are idiots?

It is the best and everyone listen to the Echidna.

Honestly, it's in my top 10 of favorite movies of all time.

As long as it's not the first movie, yeah sure.

So, the 2 stars mean that it is a second stage evolution, evolving from Espeon. Super Psychic.

Also, I dig that Garchomp.

I also like that "newer" Charizard.

Just because it's a bow doesn't mean it represents Ninfia. That hyphen has to be there, and they decided to turn it into a bow for the Ninfia reveal. Why does it make sense to have all of the Eevee colors match up in order in which they were revealed and their respective gens, then just take Espeon (which is Gen 2 and should be next to Umbreon) and stick it at the end?

What if ninfia is an alternate evolution of Espeon in girls case?

I mean an happy eevee girl gains a level during daytime... poof! She becomes a Ninfia.

Plus the hyphen don't have to be there, Eevee japanese name is "イーブイ "

I'll be honest here; I'm kind of bummed out at all the people hating Ninfia on principle just because it's new or "different." The cries that it has destroyed the Eevee line (when all we know is its appearence; seriously) are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top and a bit childish (pre-damage control: not calling out Kokonoe or anyone else on this board; I've seen much worse elsewhere).

I think we're hating on it because a) it's a pretty hideous design b) it doesn't mesh thematically with the other EIGHT Eeveelutions c) and it's ugly.

And be wary of using strawman "I hate it because it's new/different" because most of us think the XY starters are awesome, and those are new and different, while thinking this looks stupid as hell.

This is a good point too. Just because the bow is there doesn't mean it's for Ninfia. Because if you look at the order of the eevee colors, why put Espeon at the end? And the coloring of the bow matches Espeon more than Ninfia, and it also makes more sense to have Espeon next to Umbreon.

Interesting theory, never thought of it this way.

you're kidding with me. Ninfia have two huge bow and are you saying that this thing represent espeon...

the pink bow letter have the same color theme for psychic pokémon in the menu

Well any theory stands as long as there is reasoning to it. :p

a) and c) are veeeeeeery very very very very opinionable
i'm totally ok with b) though

a) Opinion. I and others like it.

b) Does that really matter in the slightest? Togekiss didn't really match the rest if its line thematically and it's awesome.

c) Opinion.

i'm not using any strawman at all. This argument is actually what I've seen from both this board and others. Plus, I said that I was't calling out anyone in particular, so there's no need to get defensive.

We already have a hideous design - it's called fat Eevee a.k.a. Flareon. And thematically? The eeveelutions don't really have that. Mane? Only first three have that. Ears? Gen 2 have different ears.

Togekiss is leaps better than the crap called Togetic.

Seeing "NINFIA" written at the top of that page in the familiar red and blue sways me into thinking that it'll somehow be Dragon Type. They use those colors to denote "Dragon" in a lot of places.

Either that, or the colors just allude to the Pokemon's own colors. But Pokemon colors themselves have been known to give away typing...

I don't see how it's possible by its looks, though.

Points a) and c) mean the same thing...

Point b) doesn't hold much water as there have been many evolutions of Pokemon where the evolved form looks completly different to the previous form.

Isn't dragon associated with purple now?

Nice find. If this is a Ghost or Dragon type, then I'm all for it.

What a cute dragon...and it kinda matches lol.

You are aware this is the Eevee line you're talking about?

Watery eyes and cutesy appearances are kinda their thing.

What's funny is that when people suggest "bug Eevee should have compunded eyes!", the only bug Pokemon to have compounded eyes in design is the Yanma line.

And yeah, people forget that since Gen 2 eeveelutions, there is no "recurring" theme to them.

Actually butterfree and venonat do as well. They just didn't go ultra detailed on them with line work and pixels, in the same vein most pokemon are actually furry but don't have defined fur strands.

The last character is purple, and Espeon is more portrayed as purple than pink.

This is actually why I don't like 3D models of Pokemon, because they never create fur textures. They all look like plastic.

Funny. I think Victini is stupid looking and Ninfia is adorable.

Opinions!

I think it's a flying type. Streamers and ribbons remind me of balloons :)

Ever since the anime took hold, the artstyle and aesthetic of pokemon has been compromised.

tis a shame.
Isn't Dragon the last original special type? All Eevees so hard had being of an original special type so maybe this is the last one.

According to this, yeah.

Personally I think of Poison and Ghost as special too.

I don't get it. Is it supposed to be a ground type? flying?
Or is it a female only evo? If so, where is the male counterpart?
I WANT ANSWERS.

Honestly, the more I compare it to dragonair, the more Dragon seems to fit, especially with the fiery looking attack from the in-game shot.

Hmm true, but why give Yanma line some special treatment?

more like
Togetic is ugly but Togekiss is beyond awful.
and yes Victini looks like crap but Ninfia is adorable

Let's just agree to disagree then.

Come on, it doesn't even remotly looks like it could have a far-fetched linkwith something that could be assimilated with a dragon.

An evo where Eevee actually preserves its Normal-type. The combination of it being mammalian like the other Eeveelutions, the emphasis on it being cutesy, and the color palette (large emphasis on cream and pink colors) being one used in a bunch of other pure Normal-type Pokemon like Audino, Clefairy/Clefable, Skitty, Miltank, etc, just screams Normal to me.
