Torrance, CA, (September 24, 2015) – XSEED Games, the independent-minded console publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that Corpse Party: Blood Drive, the final entry in the “Heavenly Host Elementary” chapter of the Corpse Party visual novel-style horror adventure series, will arrive in North America exclusively for the PlayStation® Vita handheld entertainment system on October 13th.

For the first time in the series’ history, Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be released physically in North America through a limited “Everafter Edition” for a suggested retail price of $49.99, containing a two-disc compilation of songs from Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, and Corpse Party: Blood Drive, as well as a “Dying Art” grimoire featuring over 100 pages of artwork from throughout the franchise. The game will also be available digitally via the PlayStation® Store for $39.99.

The final installment of the supernatural story that began with Corpse Party and continued in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, Corpse Party: Blood Drive ups the ante by allowing players to explore Heavenly Host Elementary in full 3D for the first time, with all of its formerly 2D environments meticulously recreated and greatly expanded. New gameplay systems provide more exciting interactions for players experiencing the gruesome finale to this tale of an inescapable, otherworldly school populated by vengeful spirits, including a dynamic lighting system aided by an in-game flashlight, talismans to protect the player characters from danger, deadly traps to disarm, cabinets to hide in, a stamina system that allows for limited dashing, and much more.

Furthermore, Blood Drive -- once again presented with the original Japanese voiceovers for authenticity -- features the return of previously offered gameplay elements such as binaural 3D audio for simulated surround sound and the screen-altering “Darkening” system, as well as bonus unlockables such as voice actor interviews, art, music, and more. Boasting 11 huge story chapters and 8 supplemental "Extra Chapters," Corpse Party: Blood Drive caps off the Heavenly Host storyline in a big way, providing answers and shocking twists in equal measure.

Published in North America by XSEED Games, Corpse Party: Blood Drive will launch on October 13th exclusively for the PS Vita, both in a limited physical “Everafter Edition” release with a suggested retail price of $49.99 and digitally via the PlayStation® Store for $39.99. This title has been rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB.

Yes, blah blah placeholders etc., but official confirmation is better than those!

And they put up a new trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sUEpmbEIbw

Glad to have an official date! I think my Best Buy preorder was October 30th for the longest while, so getting it two weeks earlier is great!

I thought this was the firs one in the series :( thats a bummer. Was really pumped for it since i heard amazing things about the game on a podcast, but now I don't think i have the time nor the patience to go through the series before it releases.

WHY IS EVERYTHING COMING OUT IN OCTOBER?

Might have to cancel the preorder; the month is way too crowded with P4DAN, Dengeki Bunko, and Superbeat Xonic.

Looking forward to this. Played through the previous games, so I'm ready to go. I have also avoiding any spoilers for his game so I'll be going in completely blind.

So I know that this stories universe has been expanded greatly since the first iteration of the game came out and I have a few questions.

1) I've only played the first game that XSEED localized. Can I pick this one up and not be lost? I know the games follow an order but see question 2 for my confusion.

2) Do the other games undo the canon/continuity of the first one that I played? People tell me this series story/plotline is allover the place and that new sequels/prequels/side-stories keep undoing everything that happened in the first main title.

2) Is it a re-make of the first one or a brand new sequel?

3) Do the other games undo the canon/continuity of the first one that I played? People tell me this series story/plotline is allover the place and that new sequels/prequels/side-stories keep undoing everything that happened in the first main title.

You only need to play the previous two psp titles, both are available on PSN. This is the 3rd and final game in that trilogy.

Are these good?

They're about as scary as sprite-based games can be, which is far more than I thought before I played them. Also a strong contender for the most fucked up "mainstream" (as in ESRB-rated retail-available) series I've ever played. It's not afraid to kill off children in extremely cruel ways. The plot is good too.

I hope one day we get an official release of Corpse Party 2. :/

In for this, glad it's going back to the style of the first game instead of the way more VN style that Book of Shadows had.

As this is now a full price game rather than the £10/15 of the first two, will it include English voice acting? I suspect I know the answer but I'm not sure why there would be such a price hike.

I have this pre ordered but I think I'll wait. With TitS SC still supposedly coming soon and Cold Steel as well I just won't have time for it. Still got 4 chapters of Book of Shadows to get through too (despite having bought it day one).

Can't wait for this! Have my preorder ready from the e3 sale earlier this year; the first two were so good, especially playing in bed, in the dark with headphones. Legit creepy.

Would be smart for them to do.

We should have an announcement about that in our blog post tomorrow (at least for the North American PSN) since we couldn't get it all set in time for our release date announcement earlier today.

PS This is no way implies that we are smart.

I think Aksys has a VN coming out in October too, and XSEED (hopefully) has EDF 2: Invaders from Planet Space coming as well. October's going go be a good Vita month.

On that topic: EDF 2 AND 4.1 WHEN, XSEED!?

On that topic: EDF 2 AND 4.1 WHEN, XSEED!?

Both EDF titles are going through final QA right now, but definitely won't be making October. Looks like EDF2 will be slipping to mid-November, with EDF4.1 likely December or possibly even early January.

Even if EDF4.1 could make November, not sure we want to directly launch it against all the AAA shooters coming out then.

Trails in the Sky SC happened, that and they only have 1 computer programmer.
Trails on the Sky: SC's localization. The true horror story for Xseed.

I adored the first, but I still need to play Book of Shadows. I've also heard that a lot of things get undone from the first game, but hopefully I'll still enjoy what they do with the story in the sequels.

Awesome :D!

One of these days, I'll get into this series. Still kicking myself for passing on the first game when it was on sale for £3 on PSN.

Never got very far in the first game back when it first came out, but I've always meant to get back to it and this having the 2 soundtracks sold me on picking it up. Guess it's pretty fitting to be playing through the series in October.

I still need to finish the first. Have one chapter to go I think.

Will be picking up the European version of this when it drops just because I presume it'll become pretty rare pretty quickly!

You really should play Corpse Party: Book of Shadows first as well, because Blood Drive literally spoils its ending within the first 30 seconds.

To clear up any confusion, no, nothing actually gets undone or retconned. Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is a bit of confusing game, but here's the run-down on it:

It's basically an anthology of eight short stories relating to the first game.

Four of these (chapters 1, 2, 5, and 6) are alternate-universe takes on the first game, following one of the wrong endings from that game in order to pull a Higurashi-like time-loop scenario that asks a lot of "what-if" questions and focuses primarily on characters who didn't get as much development in the first Corpse Party (like Mayu and Morishige). These four chapters are non-canon.

Two of these (chapters 3 and 4) are prequels to Corpse Party, taking place well before the events of the first game and giving a whole lot of development to Ms. Yui and Naho. These chapters are canon.

One of these (chapter 7) takes place during the events of the first Corpse Party game, but focuses on a different group of people (Kizami and his classmates). This chapter is canon, and is actually an alternate take on an Extra Chapter from the PC version of the first game.

And finally, chapter 8 is like, SUPER-canon, taking place two weeks after the true ending of the first game and dumping a crap-ton of plot that leads directly into Blood Drive. This, more than any other, is the chapter you really should play before firing up Blood Drive, as the cliffhanger ending of it is almost immediately spoiled upon starting up the game.

Blood Drive opens two months after the events of Book of Shadows chapter 8.

So, the placeholder date was correct. I guess that means Cold Steel is just a little bit more likely to really be coming Nov 17, then. Although, that wouldn't leave a whole lot of room for them to release TitS SC "well before CS".

Anyway, I really need to get around to playing Book of Shadows soon. I was originally planning to do it right after finishing the first game last summer but then I bought Trails in the Sky instead and haven't looked back since. I probably shouldn't have kept putting it off all summer because now I barely have any time to play much of anything and what little time I do have is still all getting swallowed up by MGSV...
