As horrible as that costume is, it was apparently what he wears before he dons the classic suit later in the film. And you know what? I'd definitely pay to see this film. Burton's been boring as fuck this past decade, but in the 90s he made really really interesting films.

And honestly, with the way the new Superman reboot has been going all I'm expecting is something similar to the new Incredible Hulk film with Norton. A very boring mediocre film.

I'll take an interesting failure over boring mediocrity any day.

Why is Tim Burton so popular? His movies are horrible.

He has great style and talent, and can give a very unique, dark, and emotional mood to his films.

But yeah, Alice in Wonderland sucked.

Because Ed Wood is freaking greatness, and one of the best films of the 90s easily.

Edward Scissorhands was neat, Batman 1 and 2 have a very unique visual aesthetic that will still hold up years from now (oh and it also had penguins with rocket launchers).

And Big Fish is awesome. Can't believe I forgot BeetleJuice. Yep...Burton's awesome. His past few films have been fairly derivative though, but eh. Whatever.

Not all of them:

- Pee-wee's Big Adventure
- Beetle Juice
- Edward Scissor Hands
- Batman
- Batman Returns
- Mars Attacks
- Sleepy Hallow
- Big Fish
- James and the Giant Peach

We need more Walken + Depp + Burton movies. Maybe Christopher Lee before he dies.

God damn. It hasn't happened yet. Hell, with the movies with either Walken/Depp or Depp/Lee. They were never face to face or they had such miniscule roles.

I like the cut of his gothic jib, even though it's gotten kinda worn-out over the years. Alice in Burtonland was a major disappointment, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was very, very eh (not even Depp and Christopher Lee could save it from mediocrity). Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, Batman, Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie, Vincent, Mars Attacks and Big Fish are wonderful though. Even Corpse Bride wasn't too bad. Looking forward to his adaption of Addams Family. Should suit his style perfectly.

Wonder what the FX would've looked like.

I loved special effects from the 90's. They were the epitome of what could be achieved from traditional effects. Everything afterward were aided more and more by computer until they were completely replaced by them.

So yeah, the FX would suck by today's standards.

I love both Burton and Cage, and I wish this had been made. I don't like the art direction they're showing at all, and Cage as superman seems like a bizarre casting decision, but I bet the movie would have been cool anyway.

I just want to see one flying sequence. It couldn't have looked faker than any of the ones from Returns.

That was JJ Abrahams draft. Kevin Smith's was terrible too. There is a serviceable one with Metallo in it called Superman: The Man of Steel.

Pretty sure he was heavily restricted by what he could do by Jon Peters.

Reading the development hell history of the last Superman movie, it almost seems like a miracle that it turned out the way it did. Boring and uninspired, sure, but the alternatives were fucking awful.

You think that producer would have let Burton do the film without his stipulations?

Burton has more clout than Kevin Smith. If Burton didn't get his way, his "vision", he could threaten to leave and the studio would likely side with him. Smith has no where near that kind of influence.

This is something I've been struggling to figure out for years myself. Sweeny Todd and Scissorhands are the only two films of his that I can sit through.

Batman was good but it's not really my particular favorite type of Batman. The only great things that come out of Burton films is Elfman's music.

Yeah I don't even understand what were they trying to go for there. Electricity runs through Superman's body? Is the power from the sun storing in his muscles or something? Fucking weird. This Superman wasn't supposed to have a cape either, right?

Well that and the cinematography of Sleepy Hollow is spectacular. Actually I'd consider that one my favorite Burton movie, the only one I personally really like.

hmm

Looking at the rest of that facebook page, I ain't gonna lie: I kinda wish this would have been made. Even if for being the trainwreck it might have ended up as, I kinda want to see this. Maybe if it wasn't Superman. :lol

Wow, I didn't know that Tim Burton directed Planet of the Apes (eww) and Big Fish (awesome).

Yeah, Planet of the Apes did not seem like Burton (or Elfman) at all. It wasn't a very good movie either.

He has some turds but there is no one with the disturbed/cooky visual flare that Burton has. No one.

Also, anybody saying this would have been better than Returns deserves all the shit movies they cause.

Big Fish is better than both those movies.

I worded that wrong. Why is he still popular? He hasn't made a good film in a very long time. His bad outweigh the good.

Most of his new movies all have the same visual style; the characters all seem hollow and just a piece of the over designed set.

I won't say he is a shitty director because Big Fish(among others you listed) refutes that claim. Although, he has become more mediocre over these last fifteen years.

It just seems that his movies always get prised even though they are not that good. It's like people can't admit that he has lost the ability that peeked at Ed Wood.

An artist is as good as his greatest work, not his latest.

This could've been a fun superman movie. You all act like this would've been the Batman and Robin of Superman movies. They already did that it was called Superman IV

My god that clear plastic one looks like a bunch of soda bottles were cut up and taped together. Not a fan whatsoever.

Tim Burton is good once in a blue moon, but Christ did they overuse him in the 90's.

Henry Selick.

Henry Selick!

Just because Burton was a producer, that does not make this a Tim Burton movie.

The same thing goes for Nightmare Before Christmas.
