"I'm really hoping that there's a mistake or something," she said. "It doesn't sound like him."

Doesn't sound like him?

Kohlhepp is a convicted sex offender listed on the SLED registry. He was convicted of kidnapping in Arizona in 1987. According to court records, Kohlhepp was working as a realtor at Todd Kohlhepp & Associates, LLC.

Jesus Christ-horrifying. To think he had her chained up and was making those Facebook posts.

So I'm assuming he killed her boyfriend too. Absolutely horrifying.

Who the fuck called in the anonymous tip that there might be MULTIPLE bodies? I'm so mad that someone seems to have had knowledge to prevent this, but didn't do it sooner.

An agent working at TKA Real Estate said she knew of Kohlhepp's sex offender status but said the arrest seemed "totally out of character."

"I'm really hoping that there's a mistake or something," she said. "It doesn't sound like him."

I don't think I will ever be numb to how fucking moronic and self delusional people can be sometimes.

all she's saying is that the person she got to know didn't display this aspect of his personality to him, which seems reasonable. People can easily have a public/private face (or shard their personality even more than that)

Yeah but they knew he was previously convicted yet is acting surprised that he would do something similar.

Jesus Christ! What a disgusting world we live in. That poor woman.

Best case scenario is alive locked up somewhere else on the property or another property since this guy might have multiple sites

I only hope this is true if they get the guy to tell them where he is. Otherwise he's starving to death.

wow what an update. WTF, so their landlord kidnapped them?

What? No. Where did you get this from?

The information came from the victim if you watch the interview with the police officer.

Hopefully what is happening is that whoever gave the tip found out about someone being trapped there and put things together and came to a conclusion that other bodies might be out there based on the guys activities

EDIT: Oh, post above explains its actually from the victim

This is all kinds of disturbing. At least she was found alive, I'm pretty sure her boyfriend is long gone.

I found this comment odd.
"It's all by God's grace we found that little girl alive," Wright said. She is currently being treated at an undisclosed medical facility
The woman is 30.

The husband's family must be losing their minds right now. Has the wife been questioned yet or is she still recovering?

Holy shit.

The suspect apparently ran a realty company, Todd Koehlepp & Associates. This is from their website's "About the Broker" page:

As Broker at TKA Real Estate, I try to keep everything running smoothly and give you more than what you expect using marketing, and a little bit of attitude. Real estate is war! Okay, not really, but I do like to set a hard pace for our competitors to follow.

http://tkarealestate.com/pages/about/default/about-us/1/1

Mind boggling to think about the double-life this guy was living.

I hope that somehow the boyfriend is still alive and that Koehlepp wasn't, in fact, a serial killer.

Edit: Just saw that the victim mentioned multiple victims. Fuck...

Edit 2: More from the site. It's hard not to read these as sinister in light of what's happened, assuming Koehlepp is the author (it sounds like the same person who wrote the About the Broker blurb above).

We started this company with the full intention of modernizing all the traditional rules of Real Estate. That's the PC way of saying that we took all the dated methods everyone else was using, the old just because "that's how we always did it...", and tossed it in the trashcan, then we lit it on fire. It was a lot of fun to watch it burn, but the fire department was not amused at all. Then we started from scratch to build a program that reflects how buyers are searching for homes in today's market.

So we went out and got professional graphic designers, web developers, specialists in marketing in a variety of fields, and gave them a job. Then we threatened not to feed them if it didn't work. Its amazing the motivation you can get after day three!

The man is a registered sex offender.

If she said "wow, he never showed that side of himself to me, but knowing about his past it makes sense", that would be a sensible thing to say.

"I'm really hoping that there's a mistake or something," she said. "It doesn't sound like him." is not a reasonable thing to say when someone who is a registered sex offender is being accused of having a woman tied up in his basement.

It seems like our worst fears were indeed correct. Truly terrifying.

Thank god the girl is still alive, I hope she is able to get all the help she will need to get past this psychological trauma. Hopefully they can find the guy alive as well... but given the reports of bodies and/or a serial killing, I somehow doubt that.

The original story mentions that the couple had just moved in together into a house. Could this dude have been their real estate agent? And the other suspected victims? Was his company a front for locating targets?

oh shit. Damn, this is no good.

Wright said Kohlhepp will face a kidnapping charge and could face more, including murder, depending on the outcome of the investigation. The agency reportedly received a tip that as many as four bodies could be on the property.

“We’re trying to make sure that we don’t have a serial killer on our hands," he said. "It very possibly could be what we have."

A backhoe was being used on the 100-acre property to search for evidence and Wright said some had been uncovered, but the investigation is in its infancy.

I guess we'll know those details in a few days.

Crazy stuff. Straight out of a Criminal Minds chapter.

A friend of Brown’s, Leah Miller, told Greenville Online, that Brown worked for Kohlhepp. He is the owner of TKA Real Estate located at 104 Franklin Avenue in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Miller told Greenville Online that Brown had begun working for Kohlhepp a few weeks before she disappeared. Brown would help the suspect clean houses and prepare them before viewings. Miller said, “I was supposed to be helping Kala, but I recently had neck surgery. I’m just in shock, wondering if she tried to reach me to help her before she disappeared. I’m happy that she is alive, but my heart is breaking because we don’t know what’s going on with Charlie.”
