Crysis 3 PC Performance Thread

Yeah, it's strange. Just turned it back on and noticed that the performance still is very good. Though, I seem to really have disabled dynamic light sources somehow. Sun in the second level is there and casting shadows. Only the first level suddenly seems completely devoid of lights casting shadows. Guess I have to apologize for being wrong. Right now I'm just really irritated about the lighting.

Select Low or medium quality preset in game menu and restart the level. A lot of dynamic lights have the castShadow propierty activated only for High quality or higher.

A tweak for play on low or medium with dynamic shadows is load the level in high or veryhigh preset, and then change to low or medium in the menu.

I'll try that. I already did change the custom options, though and reloaded the level multiple times. Do only the presets change lighting?

Yea C3 is an amd game...so no physx. But regarding the temps again, I have a coolermaster haf 922. Noctua cpu heatsink and fan. Cpu temps are crazy lowe, especially considering it's at 4.5 and the ivy bridges historically run a little warmer than the sandy bridge cpus. So airflow is there, and is good. But yea, even with my fans turned up all the way, my gpu gets pretty toasty running this game.

Anyone getting the occasional strange SLI scaling? Happens at the worst moments .

Just look in the upper left hand corner if you want to avoid the semi spoiler of the screen

His iceq 7850 oced from 860mhz to 1000mhz and this game at 1080p, mix of high and very high and 2 mediums puts the card at load with stable 40 to 65 fps at a temp no higher than 61 degrees. Love this card.

You could probably push it further than that too with some extra volts, most will get to at least 1100MHz.

This is a case of 'ignorance is bliss' for me. I just can't tell much of a difference at all between the Medium and Very High presets. I'm probably the only one in this thread that thinks this, but Medium looks fantastic. With Medium, I'm getting a constant 60fps with my single 680. There were one or two drops to ~55 in that first level, but now its pretty much a constant 60fps. FPS drops are waaay more noticable and distracting to me than the graphical difference between Medium and Very High. Its a more than acceptable tradeoff for me

i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz
6870 1GB
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
1080p, SMAA medium, everything on high except particles which is set to low and without v-sync.
Locked the framerate to 30 through msi afterburner. Rock solid 30fps @ the first level. Assuming it will stay that way later on too.

Any word on a possible fix regarding the moving rope performance bug?

So I left everything else on very high, and turned shader to high. I immediately picked up 15-20 fps based on that alone. With smaax1 enabled, another 5 over msaax2. So now I am almost always at 55fps-75fps, and in open level firefights it dips to about 45-50. Very playable!

Honestly, I can't really tell the difference between shader at very high or high, other than the drop in 20 frames.

So, turning off V-sync improved my performance significantly for some reason (don't know why it was on). Able to run multiplayer on high settings while staying above 30 FPS. I also upped my over-clocking.

Any configuration settings I can set to make it run a little better? I'm running a 4-core i7, 12 GBs RAM, and Radeon HD 7770 2GB.

I have the HD7770 as well, similar specs.

Try this autoexec.cfg

Love to know if it helped.

Playing on my 7850 2GB (1200MHz/1500MHz) and i5 750 at 3.8GHz and I'm stunned how well it runs and how good it looks.

Running at 1080p with 1x SMAA, textures to high, 1x AA, and everything bar water (high) and shading and shadows (medium) set to very high I'm getting between 30-70fps, probably around 45 on average.

Really impressed!

What exactly does this do and how do I use it?

Just place it into your main Crysis 3 folder.
For me, i place it in "C:\PC Games\Crysis 3"

The original cfg was taken from another Crysis 3 performance thread, but I used the offical Cvar tool to change some of the settings, such as lighting and distant grass animation.

It looks and runs great for me anyway. If you don't agree, just delete the "autoexec.cfg" file from your main Crysis 3 directory.

Awesome, thanks! I'll report back here later with my results.

Just stuck everything to max settings bar AA (left it at 1x SMAA) and AF 1x) and I'm getting over 30fps with my 7850 at 1080p :| HOW?!

on a GTX670 here and wasn't too happy with my performance. Gave your autoexec.cfg a go and i'm very happy with it. Keeping it almost consistently over 60FPS when combined with SMAA Medium and it's not looking half bad. Thanks.

Getting around 30 FPS average with either TXAA 4X or MSAA 4X with everything at Very High after the first level which ran at 20FPS for the majority of the missin. Shame I can't run it at 60 but 30 shall do with visuals like this. Have a 4GB GTX670 and I5-3570K. Do have some minor OCing going on though.

Question, is there a way to disable hud but still have access to binocular vision? Can make it hard to do certain objectives. My other question is if there is a way to get rid of the enter to skip cutscene button. Really frustrating and gets in the way of screenshots.

By the way, I honestly think the TXAA looks great. The only time where there is anything resembling a loss of detail is in the faces and It's still visible, just not as sharp. Think I might go through the game with it.

Been playing with 2x690s. Odd performance (maxed and downsampled). With Maldos SLI bits I boot it up and get 90FPS+ with 90%+ scaling over all GPUs, then quit out and on a second boot I get less (sometimes way less) than 50% per GPU and its a 10FPS slideshow.

I know Quad has its problems so I'm not surprised. Probably a reboot would clear it.

I tried putting everything on Low and going down to a super-low resolution (1920x1200) but I still very poor performance.

I imagine my Nvidia drivers from before the launch of Mass Effect 3 (2011,2012?) might have something to do with it.

1920x1200 is a super low resolution? :(

Amd 6100
Gtx 680

Max Txaa , very high settings
Unplayable

Medium Txaa, very high exept texture resolution (high)
Almost playable

Seriously, this game is sick....and poorly optimized

Also: How do you bind a console short cut to a key? Saw someone do it in one of the many crysis threads a few days ago. Want to bind no hud in particular.

And just to put it out there again, can you disable enter to skip during cutscenes?

I too would like to know this.

LOL at "super low" resolution

You'd probably be getting better performance than my 670 if it weren't for that CPU.
