Looks great but still to much CA, I hope that can be turned off/down.
Is there a health bar I can't see?
Number of hits in the bottom left corner. Super bar beside it.
I'd gladly pay 60 bucks just for the presentation. Who cares if the gameplay will be nothing groundbreaking.
I'm curious, just so I know where you are coming from (because we get this a bit from people who haven't played the game) - have you ever played Contra or Gunstar Heroes? And if you have, did you find them boring?
It's a totally valid perspective to have, I'm just trying to see the angle you're coming from.
being groundbreaking isn't the issue here,....its just that the gameplay in this game looks extremly repettive.
I was expecting this to be more of a side scrolling platformer

What platform is this? Switch? Those control diagrams kinda look like a joycon.
That's for the player character correct?
Ah so boss fights are more classic meterless health bars?
Game looks more and more like Metal Slug every time I see it. I'm very curious to try it myself.
The question will be whether it can hit similar highs. And how interactive the stages are. I hope a lot of the environment can be destroyed like in Metal Slug games.
This game is gorgeous. I'm really impressed by the level of detail in the animation and how just about everything hasn't that cartoony movement without looking out of place. Gameplay looks boring and clunky. I have a feeling the creators started this project with the look in mind first and just kind of shoehorned the gameplay afterwards. Way too much style over substance.
This is releasing this year right? After NNK2 delay I need few more day 1 games.
i absolutely love the look of this game, but that chromatic aberration effect strains my eyes and i don't think i could play the game for any more than a few minutes at a time.![]()
Its from July 6th. But i believe it isnt posted yet.
Lucky for you, you can turn it off!
There's no online co-op, just local couch co-op.
Yeah, looks very cool but honestyl can't play unless CA can be disabled :-(Looks great but still to much CA, I hope that can be turned off/down.

Don't know man, the earlier trailers looked a lot more busy animation wise than what's on display in this video.
Not a big fan of this honestly, gameplay looks kinda boring as well.
lol what is going on?!
I feel like people are trolling in droves.
Looks absolutely gorgeous. Fantastic job by the team.
Gameplay I'm a bit shaky on, I did play and fucking love contra but the bullet sponginess here is throwing me off. Are there any normal enemies/levels or just boss battles?

Or maybe I just think it doesn't look as good as in earlier trailers. How about that?
.they need to dial back the chromatic aberration. i like what theyre going for, but its too much. its giving me a headache watching this

This is footage from earlier trailers... How about that?
.
This is just a collection of footage scrubbed from other Youtube channels. All of the gameplay here is from a demo we showed off over a year ago and it still had all of the placeholder sound effects at that time. All the sounds have been redone since then.
You gonna sit there and try to tell me that Contra isn't bullet spongey with it's bosses? For real?
We really struggled with this. Initially, we had a giant number for the boss health (you can probably find old screenshots or footage with this), then we had nothing, then we had a life bar, then we didn't. Now we have a bar at the end of the fight that shows how far along in the fight you got.
You can tell where you are in the fight based on what the boss is doing. Basically, the bosses have different forms (usually 3 or 4) and each form has a number of attacks. They'll usually start with one or two attacks until a certain damage threshold is met, then they'll start sprinkling in a third or fourth or just completely change forms. The progress bar at the end has delineations that show the switch-up points for each form and attack stage, so you can see how far along you made it.
We feel it's a good compromise between keeping the screen clean, inducing a bit of learning and watching the patterns (instead of staring at a life bar) and intuiting where you are in a fight. "Vertical learning".
