CVG: Microsoft's next-Xbox silence at GDC a "disastrous mistake"

Whoa, I'm quoting myself here, I knew this might happen but I didn't think it would be that soon. Check out what the new Radeon HD 9970 will be equipped with... DDR3!! :o

Btw... OOO CPUs can work just fine with GDDR5 Ram.

I know exactly what I'm talking about, you're just not understanding, bandwidth isn't everything, why do you think $10,000 dollar servers are not equipped with GDDR5? CPUs don't work well with high latency. GPUs typically don't handle general purpose processing like CPUs but that's quickly changing and in fact next gen there's a big push for GPGPUs. But whatever, I guess I don't know what I'm talking about lol.

No, you don't know what you are talking about.

With the upcoming push for APUs in computers, we are going to see systems that use GDDR5 for their main (shared) memory: Whether graphics performance or general computing is the focus of the system will decide whether regular DDR memory or graphics memory will be used (it's a question of cost).

DDR3 is only suitable to low-end graphics performance, while CPUs can work with GDDR5 just fine (it's just not necessary in a system with disjunct memory pools like today's computers).
