Not much to be honest. I just watched the reveal at E3 and I just can't understand the hype.

I don't give a damn about tech demos, about free roaming "wow look at this!" gameplay or anything superficial which gets blown away as soon as I start to seriously play the game. I only care about what's under the hood.

I care about the mission structure, i.e. how does it work? How is the AI? Are there waves of braindead enemies swarming my position with an obnoxious checkpoint system? Is driving annoying? Are there escort mission where I need to defend against waves of enemy AI vehicles swarming me? I care about the upgrade system, i.e. does it break the game when I upgrade way beyond my level or do enemies also scale to my level? I care about the weapon & armor upgrades, i.e. are they even important?

That's the stuff I care about. The rest is just marketing & hype without substance (including the setting). When I'm in the midst of the action, playing the game, I find the visual packaging doesn't matter half as much as the content. This applies to every single player experience I play, i.e. whether it's a survival horror or a GTA title. I don't care about the design of vehicles if their use in the game is either redundant eye candy or only occurs during obnoxious poorly designed missions.

So I'm firmly in a wait & see situation.

Oh my this is foul. Like old Diet Dr. Pepper.

I don't know. I watch the videos and I feel the game is so soulless. I'm still gonna buy it though, hopefully I'm wrong.
Like.. you said “generic FPS” how many FPS/RPG/OPEN WORLD games are in a cyberpunk setting? Explain.
I don't mean journalists, those are paid marketing anyway. They'll probable say this is the greatest game ever.
I... so it’s gonna sell really well and review really well but it’s going to “bomb” super hard by what metric again? User reviews? Christ.

On another topic I recently forced myself to play the Witcher 3 after several attempts at starting it and not being able to get into it at all. And I have gotten into it slightly, the story is good and I like the cause and effect of player choice - but man. I really hope this game does some stuff better than they did in that game. Maybe it’s due to the fact that I’m playing this in 2020 but it’s a bit stiff in the way it controls and how you interact with the world - I mean part of it is I just don’t care that much about these fantasy-type settings but there’s a lack of fluidity in the game that I really hope they do better with in cyberpunk. Already the idea of driving a car through a city sounds much more appealing to me than what’s happening in this.

I could only get into TW3 by playing the first two games first, now TW3 and the others are some of my favourite games of all time.

User critics, word of mouth. Like TLOU 2 which a lot of people hate but it's going to be GOTY and sold millions.

But you're right, I meant a generic open world game, not a fps.

Obviously because it has keanu, not because of the game. Let me clarify, in not saying it's gonna bomb sales wise, I'm saying it's gonna bomb critics wise. Of course it's going to sell millions in its first day, but I believe this game will be just another game and not that amazing incredible game everyone thinks it's gonna be.
Lol, another game? What other game has this scope?
If it is better than Witcher 3 in production (which it already is), then it's already going to win GOTY.

I can guarantee that the only critics that will be giving lower scores are those that will DEFINITELY talk about fake WOKE stuffs in a video game.

I dislike 1st person rpg, but even I can't find any other game that is this close to this scope and quality. Streamers are going to stream this 24/7 the moment it is out.

What scope exactly? Many have stated this yet have failed to give any real exact number to argue something different is happening here. If you tell me has xyz number of buildings to enter pre square feet or something then I can agree something unique is happening here, but I've yet to hear or even see anything that tells me its anything beyond larger Deus Ex with cars or something. Years ago I remember Ubisoft saying something regarding AC Unity's map, they made comments about its interior to help you understand its "scope" in terms of density of interior.

edit.

Unless I have this type of info, they are simply marketing to you a video game....even when folks were going ape shit over NPCs, it was nothing THAT massive as again....AC Unity...

Soooooo you telling me no other person will dislike this game and if they do, it will "DEFINITELY" be about "WOKE" stuff? smh

Thank you. I have yet to see something that blows me away. I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Same. I've scene enough to buy it as a big Deus Ex fan and I had it pre-ordered since 2018, but I've seen nothing with this title that tells me its anything more then Deus Ex with cars in a larger world. Nothing is wrong with that, but nothing is that revolutionary about that either. I caution anyone going around talking about scope, density or anything crazy like that as this team has been very, very careful about not making statements regarding that subject other then buzzwords to market.

It would be like trying to say Mass Effect 2 is going to be like No Man Sky based on the marketing words like "travel the galaxy planet to planet" etc. I think maybe, just maybe many are taking certain things "suggested" as literal things with no real evidence that the team is doing anything that different. The team being really careful about talking about the world, tells me its not as dense as many might be thinking as team would be singing some crazy feat to the roof tops

ie 90% enterable buildings, xyz square feat of interior, blank at every corner or something.

As someone thats gamed long enough, many times its pretty clear the title isn't doing something THAT different when the team themselves are hesitant to go into any deep, exact, specific detail regarding such things. Theses marketing teams fucking love telling you stats about junk. Chances are, if the game is really doing something extremely unique, the wouldn't just say some vague marketing points like "the density of the content" or " packed it full of life ", they'd give you some data.

Need I remind folks, how many other games have we not heard fucking marketed this exact way ie " packed it full of life", that could be any fucking game this generation..... So when Unity states 10,000 NPCs and even tells you 1/4 of the whole map is interiors....they are not fucking scared to brag about that achievement. They can say " packed it full of life" or "density", but they have the ACTUAL data to prove it, its not simply a vague, broad, general claim.

I think its still going to be a great game, but my expectations are in check. Fuck, i'd be happy to be proven wrong myself and that city is packed with thousands of NPC like in AC series and Hitman and stores and interiors are all over at every corner on every block. I'm simply doubtful because if that was the case, thats the thing you'd never stfu about if you are their marketing team lol

I have no idea what the scope of the game is, but an open world Deus ex sound exactly like what I would want it to be? Like I’m more confused by the idea of “generic” if there is another open world cyberpunk-style game I would love to play it. I’m asking if it exists at all.

Open world Deus Ex is the best way to describe it tbh. I'm keeping my expectations safe.

"if there is another open world cyberpunk-style game I would love to play it" ? Yea there is actually.

I'll probably check that out too some time next year as I don't really have the time this year.

Nintendo Switch.

well one can dream

Watch it be on Switch Pro or Switch XL or what ever the fuck they call it lol

If CDPR was willing to put Witcher 3 on Switch for them extra sales (following the Skyrim port on everything method), I expect when Nintendo does another system or upgrade, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be one of the games. I'd be shocked if it didn't happen tbh.

NaughtyDog Defense Force
I haven't been paying attention to Cyberpunk 2077 news..

Will there be an PS5/XsX patch when the game releases?

How is Witcher on Switch?

And yeah I was guessing if a Switch Pro or XL or whatever happens, we'll probably get it on that and I'll finally be able to play it.

Change controls to alternate mode, should help.

There will be 2 patches. A quick patch for PS5/XSX launch that will "look better than on current-gen from that moment as well." Then the full upgrade sometime next year that will bring the RT features from PC over to consoles.

Is it confirmed that it will bring all RT features to consoles? I don't expect the consoles to be on par with the highest PC RT settings.

1) stop multiposting, you can quote multiple people in one post
2) there is hype because the game looks amazing and is from makers of Witcher 3

Did you enable alternative movement system and are playing at 60fps? Plus if you are on PC I recommend ImmersiveCam mod suite, it adds better controller support as well.

Yea there is actually.

I like WD (first game) but comparing it to Cyberpunk...no. Even WD3 is no doubt going to be kinda generic open world with linear story and copypasted sidemissions. It is Ubisoft.
CDP has much better quest designers and writers. THAT is where the game is going to shine - in its quest design and writing. Just like TW2 and TW3. Incidentally it is also the thing that they do not want to show much, understandably.

No, they simply called it a more robust update. We'll see how they handle the ray tracing update to TW3 on consoles compared to PC to get an idea of what sort of compromises, if any, might be made.

Consoles don't need to have the highest PC settings. 30fps is also widely accepted on consoles, whereas on PC everything is centered around 60fps/Ultra. No doubt that Cyberpunk is best played on powerful RTX GPUs.

ResetEra is an absolutely fantastic marketing platform for this game. I’ve been on the fence about it for quite a while, but now I know those misogynistic little cunts can’t stand it, I’m buying it day one.

I’ve just seen there‘s a 29 page thread of people saying they’re boycotting the game because CDPR are transphobic, because of poor representation of trans people or something, I‘m not sure, they were using a lot of language which people in the real world don’t use, so I didn’t fully understand that their gripes were.

They‘re absolute lunatics. What happened to just wanting an enthralling gaming experience? Why do people want entertainment to conform to their world view? Bonkers.

Grim fat trans gender = good.
Hot thin trans gender = bad.

That‘s pretty much it.
