DAIGO beasting in Street Fighter IV

PepsimanVsJoe said:
The people that play SF:AC online are freaking nasty. I got nailed to the wall by this badass Makoto player last time and haven't been back since. =(

I used to play 3S online quite a bit with some of the tougher folks from SRK back in the day... Actually imported it, played until it came out here, then dropped it - the lag had become unbearable. No clue why, but people I had great connections with before it came out here became really laggy.

In any case, I learned a lot from playing MrWiz and Phil, and my Makoto became really powerful really quickly. So much that I felt I sucked (because I kept getting completely destroyed by those really good guys) that I started doing random matches and just annihilating the competition. Good times :)

I vowed never to play fighting games online ever again, though. I tried UMK3 on XBLA a few times, and getting yelled at by some crappy kids because I'm "cheap" wasn't my cup of tea. It's not my fault you're ALWAYS TRYING THE SAME MOVE WITH MASSIVE RECOVERY TIME, IDIOT.

lol at the idiots asking why this video is good. You guys are retards. Get out of here with your shitty spamfest comments:lol you guys have no idea what you're talking about

at least jump kicking is bringing combat to close quarters, fireballing at a distance repeatingly just seems.. boring, lack of variety, people jump over you dragonpunch their ass, i mean i would rather they focus on close combat like in SF3S, and friggin bring back parry.

Cause that's exactly how Boxer/Chun/Vega/Dictator play (AKA MOST OF THE TOP TIER) play

p.s. parry is Capcom's response to people crying too much about fireballs without understanding the game

while i am an enormous 3s fan, i do not mourn the lack of parry.

i want a new game with new tactics, and i am hoping the new systems will provide for (at least a small amount of) new SF gameplay, like how parrying provided for new gameplay in 3s.

Street Fighter IV looks fucking incredible but I'm pretty positive Capcoms eleventyfifth SF4 will be better (the SFIV: Third Strike version). I needz mah parriaz

1) Wtf is beasting?
2) That video was terrible quality. Couldn't see shit.
3) SF4 is a lot more fun to watch in person.

I swear to god, I hate when fighting game players use bizarre lingo that leaves everyone else in the dust. You don't see anyone in any other genre doing that.

There's still a parry-like system in SF4. You just use the revenge bar now, and it's much easier to do.

You need to post more about slayer at srk.

Anyone have vids of a high level chunners? I might have to knife that bitch if she is still cheap.

Fuck parry. If you can't break out of a persons' zoning game you deserve to die. I love that getting inside on someone takes a lot of skill in this.

Why am I not seeing any of these parries in any videos :(? And where's my "ktsch" sound? I swear hearing that sound in 3s (or better yet, accomplishing one hell of a parry-string) is better than sex.

"Beasting" is not really fighting game specific.

In the video in the OP, the Ryu player does it. It's the parts where he takes a hit with the focus attacks then dashes out of it. Near the end before he does his combo into Ultra, he does it to build up revenge meter by using it against the sonic booms.

maybe they can use the rolling from KoF.. hahaha

1) Wtf is beasting?

unleash the beast within you!! RAWR!

No one can see how Daigo's control of those matches? And the fireball chip trap should easily breakable with the revenge moves. Doesn't it act as a parry in a way?

Lastly, calling Reno a noob? Ignorance really is bliss.

only people who want parries are pussies who can't handle fireballs. no parries = GOOD. THANK. FUCKING. GOD.

Maybe now SF3 players will learn how to play Street Fighter.

God damn, that looked nice! How is a parry pulled of in SFIV, same way hopefully?

This is the truth right here. Less random, more skill. It looks like you can play more mind games in this than in SF3.

This thread makes it feel as if parry = luck. What the fuck? If anything, parry = skill.

whoah whoah whoah, are you telling me there's a deeper mind game than rock paper scissors ????

"God damn, that looked nice! How is a parry pulled of in SFIV, same way hopefully?"

It's not the same and it can only *sort of* functions the same. You do a focus attack to take a single hit, then dash cancel the focus attack. The health you take from the hit will regenerate (unless you get hit). You can't really do it rapid fire or anything.

The focus attack dash canceling has more utility than parries (on paper, anyway), though.

This game is rps and a fourth unknown element!

Seriously, SF3 didn't mind games as well as other sf games. It made no sense to play a guy like Remy if you wanted to win because he wasn't a combo heavy character and is supers weren't that great and were hard to setup. Trying to zone someone for a whole round in SF3 was just senseless when all they had to do was parry into normal + super. If someone couldn't break out of a fireball trap or got themselves backed into a corner they deserve to die. This game is taking a page from other street fighters where people had to think their way out of jams instead of pushing forward when shit hits the fan.

I will confirm.

Reno is a n00b.

One who plays against Japan's (maybe the world's) best competition in fighting games.

Yep. You're just jealous.

Go play vs the CPU.

You press MP+MK, and then if you just let go, they'll do a focus attack, but if you dash (usually back dash to be safe) it basically looks like they parry.

I just noticed that this doesn't cost any of the blue EX gauge, it only uses the EX gauge when you do a special move, then focus, then dash. I also though focus would use the revenge gauge, but it seems to fill it up o_O. I guess the only cost is a possible chance at losing health.

That combo at the end of each round was pretty cool, but I have a feeling it'll seem like bread and butter very soon. Hoping to see more partitions and shit like they had in the last trailer. That trailer was definitely aimed at top tier players, I doubt many people actually understand what was going on there.

People are already doing partition setups with guys like Guile and Balrog. Common stuff after a crumple save attack with Guile is to charge back during saving attack, then dash forward, finish the charge and do whatever into sonic boom/flash kick. Same with Balrog... actually had someone do saving attack crumple -> dash -> jab, jab dash punch XX super to me the other day.:lol That wasn't fun!

Shit won't be easy on a pad, that's for sure. So MP+MK when a fireball hits you, then back dash immediately before turning it (MP+MK) into a focus attack?

I'm hoping it's better balanced than the parries in SF3 - it end up being too imbalanced for certain characters.

Video looks hot.

"OOH FIREBALL IS BORING"

wtf, Daigo just showed you how to parry and you're still complaining?

I'm so happy it's going back to the roots of what makes SF special.

I enjoy Third Strike, but top tier is usually about building meter and doing quick hit into super. Sure there are mind games associated with that, but if two people are just trying to land their M. kick into super all day, it gets a bit old.
