Second one wasn't as bad people make out. It was just generally, you know, mediocre. Unremarkable. Disappointing.

Danny Boyle is an excellent director and hasn't made a bad film yet; if I recall correctly. I didn't particularly care for Slumdog but hey, different horses, different courses, whatever. They could put his name on, I dunno, Predators 2 and I'd go and see it.
I though Millions was a bit of a stinker. Otherwise he is a top notch director, Manchester, la la la!

Haha that might actually not be such a bad premise. ;)

Kinda glad to see I'm not the only one who thought slumdog millionaire wasn't very good to be honest. :P

Capone: Last question, there have been a few rumblings that you are thinking about revisiting one of your old storylines from years ago. Is that true, or do you have something else in mind?
DB: IÂ’m an optimist and I try to keep hope alive whenever I can and I would love to do it. IÂ’ve got an idea for it. The problem is IÂ’m unusually committed toÂ… IÂ’m doing a play in the theater next. IÂ’m doing an adaptation of "Frankenstein" at the National Theatre in London, which is a really interesting adaptation. Then, IÂ’m doing the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in 2012, because itÂ’s in my neighborhood.
Capone: I did hear that you had been awarded that task.
DB: I lived a mile from the stadium, yeah. ItÂ’s a rundown area, so itÂ’s a brilliant investment in the area and stuff, and thatÂ’s going to take me until mid- to late 2012, so I donÂ’t know if itÂ’s very practical, but I would love to do it, yeah.
Capone: Why do you think people are so obsessed with the idea of you coming back to 28 DAY LATERÂ…?
DB: I don’t know. It’s a great premise, I think. It’s a very simple, very classic premise. It’s sort of been done in other ways before, but it’s got something about it. And this new idea is, you think, “That could work.” But anyway…
Capone: Alright, well great. It was great to see you again.

So... 28 Months Later in 2014?

That said, if Boyle comes back, he needs to get the three survivors in Days to come back or at least explain what happened to them. The ending(s) of Days is too ambiguous for my liking. That aside, Days is one of my top zombie films. The shots of an empty London and the horses scene still haunt me.

Weeks wasn't too bad, but it was too focused on action... which, IMO, isn't what made Days good.

Fantastic chase scene in the beginning though. Also Robert Carlyle <3 <3 <3 <3 and Jeremy Renner <3 <3 <3 <3 and Harold Perrineau <3 <3 <3.

HEY GUYS,

Just popping in to say, yeah, 28 Days Later really was a lot better than the new DOTD. I'm not going to bother giving reasons why, because opinions are just that, opinions and my reasons wouldn't change anyone's mind. But yeah, even if 28DL hadn't existed the new DOTD would still be considered shit in my book.

That's all I came to post,

Carry on.

Yes, the remake of DAY of the Dead sucked.

I don't like the first two, so I probably won't bother with this.

However, I am looking forward to the next one, "28 Years Later" because I've never seen a movie about senior citizen zombies...

So in the latest issue of Empire there is actually a really great interview with Alex Garland. How it relates to this thread is that he has said he won't have any part in 28 Months Later, even if Boyle goes ahead with it, since he's currently working on Logan's Run - something I also had no idea about.

Anyway, its a really great article and just more incentive to pick up the issue (ontop of the massive Tintin stuff, Black Swan coverage and Cameron interview.) He talks about how when deep into production on Sunshine, him and Boyle had spent ages trying to fix the script 'problem' and that they hoped it would work itself out in shooting - which he then admits they felt wouldn't happen.

I really can't wait to see Never Let Me Go.

So they agreed that there was something..."off" by it?

28 Days - LOVE

28 Weeks - Was entertaining but a definite downgrade in quality from the first

28 Months - Bring it. Especially with Danny Boyle directing.

:D

There is a simple explanation for this.

British zombies are the best in the World.

Foreigners just can't 'do zombie' right.

That's right! I SAID IT!

I guess, do rape happy brit soldiers come standard in zombie movies across the pond or is that just the 28 days film?

That's unfortunate, since they're wrong.

Well to be fair he still admitted he has a deep affection for Sunshine. He also hinted that him and Boyle disagreed about how to approach a 'fix' to the film.

The second film started so perfectly then became and i hate to say this too 'americanised'

The first film the lonely opening, the abandoned hospital building the scene in the church, the council estate block with the lights on as a sos,the shopping trip and the terrifying and actually fairly creepy last half of the movie before it ends with a smidgeon of hope.

Now contrast that to the sequel which again had that fantastic opening 10mins and then went completely to shit massive, massive script problems, The whole military thing, that scene where they lock people in the underground carpark which was just lazy scriptwriting, Robert Carlyle able to sneak in to see his wife, then becoming a GPS zombie that can move across huge swathes of London in mins. The only redeemable parts were when the kids escaped to the outside to return to their old house and the end with the virus seemingly spreading to europe.

Well, the soldiers in original Day of the Dead don't get as explicitly and coordinatedly rapey, but they've got it in them.

28 weeks later was a pleasent surprise to me, expected it to be over Americanised and shit, but it was pretty damn good.

Hoping this is good as well.
