It looks really good in the last fight. I think it's a pretty good compromise, the 2003 movie suit is a little to leathery and shiny, this feels more tactical, which seems to mirror what we see in, say, Captain America's suits.

So regardless of which you think looks better, I feel it fits the MCU style better.
 
I think it works. You don't even need the red suit, the black suit he uses for the rest of the show is perfectly good IMO.

Around episode 2 I was all "I wish he looked a little bit more like daredevil"

But by the finale I didn't even care, it its definitely an origin story... not of Matt and his powers exactly (though there is a fair bit of that) but of the Daredevil persona.

When the symbol thing was mentioned in ep. 11 I kinda just rolled my eyes. Too similar to Batman Begins for me.

I dunno, I feel like in BB the whole symbol aspect is stressed far greater. In Daredevil he is more interested in doing than being perceived as anything.

But it's very true that Batman Begins is a strong comparison to make here.
 
Series of MCU references as of Episode 9:

- Foggy and Matt referring to the "incident" in New York when buying an apartment
- Kingpin's right hand man complaining that Daredevil doesn't "have an iron suit or a magic hammer"
- Claire asking if Matt is "one of those billionare playboys I've heard so much about"

Anybody else?

Who the heck was Gao and where did she go? "Home"? Stephen Strange tie-in? Inhumans??

Who was the dude talking to Stick at the end of Ep 7? Gorgon? Iron Fist related? What "door"?

Whatever happened to that greek girl you dated? :)
 
Finished the season, loved it, felt the red suit came obnoxiously late but the reveal was totally badass. Will be rewatching pretty soon, kinda lost my concentration a bit in the middle.

Couple of Qs

No Stan Lee cameo? Granted, this is a bit violent than the rest of Marvel's stuff, but didn't think he'd skip out on it.
Who was that guy at the end of Ep 7?

Some quick notes:
I heard the name Morales somewhere and my ears peaked up haha.
Love the final suit, looks great, thought they'd got it wrong from the stills.

- Damn it, did they have to kill of Ben?
- Suit looking cool once in motion.
- I think Gao could turn up in the Iron Fist show.
- I think Stone was credited at the end of episode 7. I'm not too sure, though. I'll have to check.

Edit: Checked the credits. Definitely Stone.
 
Love how this show is laying the groundwork for the mystical side of Marvel as well as street level. Nobu and the Hand. The Black Sky. Stick and the other guy is probably part of the Chaste, right? Gao and her homeland being a "considerable distance further"

It was the right choice saving the suit for so late, you literally only see it for the last 15 or so minutes. It looked quite good I thought.

The "characters that appear in which episode" list in the OP is a LIE so yeah, please remove that.

I would love to know that too... feels like they are setting something up for Defenders or one of the future seasons of the companion shows, but seems like it could be a character from the comics.

Outside of that scenario it feels like most of the show was really contained and isn't bleeding over into future shows/seasons, outside of the whole Fisk-in-prison situation.

I'll spoil it just in case but:

Given that Stick was targeting Nobu because he belonged to the Hand, I'd say that the person is the leader of The Chaste, which is the Hand's enemy as well as one of the groups that trained Electra (along with the Hand)

Actually, I'm wondering what Black Sky and Madame Gao are supposed to represent. They are important enough that they are still unanswered and unresolved questions but I can't find the link.
 
God damn, I love how D'onofrio switches from collected to absolutely terrifying in a second. Seriously, best villian in all of the MCU. I'd even say in any superhero show

That moment in Ep 12, when he's talking to Ben, and just explodes out of the chair in rage after just having a calm discussion, was even scarier than the door decap scene IMO
 
So who was the shirtless guy Stick was talking to? I thought it was supposed to tease someone important but I don't know enough about the comic lore.
 
Was slightly disappointed in the ending, mainly because I was hoping to see a cool group fight with Matt in the red suit, instead of a solo brawl with Fisk

And wasn't this supposed to be somewhat of an origin for the Kingpin? By the end, his whole criminal empire has collapsed, he's in prison, it seems like he has no more influence due to Hoffman snitching.
 
Of course everyone caught the most obvious reference - they're across the hall from Atlas!
And of course the stilt-man legs.

Good series that I feel I shouldn't have binge watched. I agree with the biggest complaints - would have benifited from additional editing, repetitive scenes.

I enjoyed every scene with Fisk and/or Murdock.

Felt it was a mistake to kill Urich, but whatever - he can be ressurrected pretty easily.

Would have liked more courtroom stuff and more of foggy and Matt. It was a lot of Karen and foggy getting drunk in terms of just "fun" hanging out scenes. Enjoyed the flashback to their college days for this reason.

Felt like a great set-up to a Daredevil series that we hopefully see within the next couple of years.

Liked the costume, more or less, like gladiator said though, it wasn't completley finished. Would be surprised if they don't make some changes by the time we see daredevil again.
 
Fucking amazing all around.
Love the tosses to the New York throw down, Roxxon, Gladiator, the Electra nod, the posters on the wall with various writers in the gym, the nod to Taurus (Cornelius Van Lunt)... others too but I have been in front of my tv now for over thirteen hours straight and my head hurts.
 
Loved it.
Suit also looked pretty good in motion for me. Maybe a stronger red would have been nice, but then again they did say the suit wasn't fully completed.
Stick was great. Had such a great impact for only one episode.

Really enjoyed the show and overall thought it was a good effort. The acting was a bit rough in some respects, but nothing worse than what you would see in Flash or Arrow. Overall, thought the story was really well done and the tone and emotional appeal was great. Loved the suit at the end and knew they would save it for the last episode. Thought Kingpin was done so well and like how he isn't just a brain dead bad guy, but rather has a backstory. I found it weird that they totally crumpled his empire, I just assumed it would end with him taking out all the other bosses and being in charge. Regardless, I am really looking forward to what is next from Marvel, seeing as they did such a great job with Daredevil.

Does anyone else think it would be cool if Spider-Man had a tv series and also was in the movies? Movies he handles the big bad guys and the tv show he does small time stuff?
 
wow just finished it and i thought it was fuckin awesome.


cox was great as matt donofrio IS kingpin and scott glenn is the perfect stick. they stand out to me the most and the fights in this show are so good. i wish ben didnt die and theyd spent more time whoopin ass with suit than the last 15 minutes
 
I had so much fun marathoning the series starting at midnight yesterday. Hopefully I can do that with the other Marvel Netflix shows as they come out.

Another thing I love about Netflix shows is when someone mentions a specific scene or something it's really easy to fire up netflix in my browser and scrub right to that specific episode/scene to recheck things... would be great if more channels did this with their shows. with hbo/showtime you can, and the list seems to be growing (AMC lets you stream live now... not sure if you can watch old eps though?)

I've already gone back and rewatched the Stick scenes and the ending of Episode 7 to soak it in more. I'll probably be doing that with a lot of sequences.
 
Ha, I like how Melvin says the costume isn't done yet which gives them an excuse to change it down the line in case people don't like the look of it.

I feel both those storylines would be explored in an Ironfist series. With that said I hope they do something based on the immortal ironfist story line by fraction/brubaker. Gao and a new Black Sky would be interesting in that story.
 
Finished episode 2 and 3. Fantastic so far.

The flashbacks have been perfectly executed so far. Legit got sad when Jack won the Creel fight and he looked back into the light with the crowd chanting his name knowing he's going to be dead. DAMN.

Seeing Matt and Foggy actually be in a courtroom and work was awesome. I'm hoping to see more of that aspect. Matt's speech about good and evil vs. facts was great. I want more of that.

Elden Henson was a little shaky in the first episode, but I think his acting greatly improved on episode 2.

Anybody else had the immediate reaction to try and spot Avengers Tower on the skyline when Ben was talking to his insider?
 
I'll be honest, I didn't like the final suit. There's something off about the mask, it just didn't look right. I think it's the way it frames his face - kind of looks like it doesn't quite fit. But I'm willing to bet that the second season will bring a revision of the costume, as tends to happen with comic adaptions.

It's not bad or anything, was just underwhelming :/

The dude who made the suit say's something about it "not being finished". Will be interesting to see what the final design is.
 
Not into the mask for the final suit. Now that I've finished it still looks off. Its really just the face part, looks terrible. The rest of the costume is alright I suppose, if not a little plain.

I expect a change for Season 2 based off the line said when he was picking up the suit though.

Great show though. I wish Rosario was in it more. What was she in, 4 episodes? And I feel like two of them she was only in for a few minutes.
 
Yeah, I had to go rewatch that part in episode 10 after hearing about it... I didn't know Elektra was Greek and all that, I'm not well-read on Daredevil.

Yeah I'm hoping they do revise it substantially. I actually liked it quite a bit. But we see how much batman's suit changed from Begins to Dark Knight (to show the evolution of it both aesthetically and in being able to practically use it for stunts etc.)... they should definitely take fan feedback into consideration and make it better however they can.

Not saying they adjusted Batman's due to fan feedback as it has a long history of changing with each film, but in Daredevil's case it gives them that opportunity.

I think they could have executed the horns better, it doesn't look the best it could be.

They should take a page from Amazing Spiderman 2. After the very lukewarm response to Spidey's suit in ASM1 they decided to draw much more from the comic design, giving it those very characteristic HUGE eyes (oh, and making them white instead of Yellow, ffs who decided on yellow...). They should go for something that evokes the designs that work really well in the comics and balance that with what works in the real world.

It was okay as a first try. But let's see what else they can come up with.
 
Just finished it. It was so so good.

At the end with Foggy saying it could take a year for Fisk to be trialed I got the feeling they set it up for Civil War where Matt gets unmasked and we get Fisk trying to destroy him mentally and physically.
 
And, done.

Damn what a ride. Netflix has a hell of an uphill battle now with JJ, LC and IF. When you start out with the best superhero show ever put on television, you can only blame yourself :P

I'd be content with an off-hand mention of a band of "out of control vigilantes". We'll have had Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and maybe Power Man by the time Civil War comes out. I think Daredevil would be the most likely candidate for a cameo appearance, especially considering his secret identity is still intact for the most part by the end of the season.

What. A. Ride. I am so, so impressed with that. And that final shot!
 
can't believe they've killed Urich. I thought he'll stick around until he learned who DD is
Also I got used to his black costume that Red costume seems out of place from the dark gritty tone

Yeah considering Urich is a long continuing character in the comics, killing him off was a huge wtf moment. Well done to them for that.
 
I honestly expected at least one of the girls to die before Urich. I guess they figured most fans would be expecting that though. I didn't expect half the villains to go either.
