Daredevil on Netflix *SPOILER THREAD* |OT|

Well, I think the show was great for he first 7 episodes but the last 6 ended up being a bit disappointing.
As I commented in the other thread, I just didn't buy the Fisk/Vanessa relationship. The relationship simply didn't get enough screen time for it to be believable and relatable and in the end it felt like it happened just because Fisk has a wife in the comics.

They also tried to wrap up too much in the end there and the resolution felt rushed as a result. It basically had the same ending that the movie had...in terms of what happens to Fisk.

Urich's death really got to me. I normally don't cry during sad moments in TV/film, but I found myself in tears at his funeral. I wanted Fisk to pay for what he did, and normally those sort of moments don't pay off for me.

Wesley's death shocked me, too. He was favorite supporting character on Fisk's side, and really wanted to see more of him.

Just finished and as a big daredevil fan I have some feelings:

-Ben Ulrichs death hit me and I'm not quite sure I think it was the best idea, especially since one day I want a Born Again adaptation and hes integral to that. The actor was really good too.
-All the casting was good, especially Stick and the Kingpin obvs.
-I like the subtle references to Elektra, Hand, Gladiator etc
-The costume is too bulky, hopefully they'll hand wave it as costume 1.0
-Ill take a bet that Owlsleys son is also called Leland and will be the actually Owl.
-Wheres my post-credits scene marvel?
-Wheres my season 2 marvel?

Edit: Also Karen joking about going on hard narcotics got an awkward laugh out of me

I really hate that Ulrich is dead, dude was cool as fuck, wouldn't have minded seeing more of him. I kinda hate how he didn't just blog it all earlier though. He had his reasons sure, but it seemed to be too convenient. Hope his editor feels like a dick.

Man, Karen is the catalyst for fucking people up in this show. I like the actress, but damn... her character is just persistent in getting people fucked

SHIT

SHIT

SHITTY

SHIT

I get it, Marvel, your show isn't on ABC. It's the equivalent of HBO randomly having tits in their shows.

It's fairly clear that Vanessa is just as fucked up as he is. Although there were points where I wasn't sure if they were taking a "she understands everything and is cool with it" or "she just thinks he's an entrepreneur and he's keeping her in the dark" tone, it's ultimately clear she understands exactly how violent he can be and is totally fine with it.

Their second date goes from her revealing that she has a gun in her purse (and giving it to him) to giving him approval when he wipes out the Russians. The ending with him proposing just before his arrest and her departure was a bit abrupt, but I'm assuming it's because they'll have her start managing his business affairs from behind the scenes.

To bad that they killed of Ben. Would have loved to see him join the Bugle, I got actually really excited because of this once was fired.

I think it is real silly they treat Matt wearing a costume as thing big deal, calling him weird and shit, when BILLIONAIRE GENIUS TONY STARK flies around in a suit of armor and fights aliens and terrorists.

So who was the dude stick reported to? Silver Samurai? Romulous?

Probably the leader of The Hand which opens up the door for
Elektra........

Was Lady Gao an Iron Fist? She hadouken'd Daredevil pretty good. It was also suggested that she wasn't from China but somewhere more remote like K'un Lun?

Tony Stark flying around as Iron Man is also weird and insane. Superheroes are all weird and insane.

I didn't buy the relationship in the beginning because Fisk was so weird and awkward but after learning more about Vanessa, it worked for me. She's pretty damn crazy and seems to love Fisk because of how crazy and intense he is.

in motion.

Might not look perfect but its very well made, I didn't have much hope for the real costume.

Yeah I was wondering what she meant by saying she was from a place farther away. Another planet?

Man, I can't stand Karen and I hate that she ended up getting Ben killed. The whole time I was hoping that she would end up being the one killed for dragging Ben to the nursing home.

What were the Elektra hints?
Hand was obvious, but I didn't notice any direct Elektra references.
Greek girl that Matt dated in college

And as for Gao, the show was obviously also laying the groundwork for mystical Marvel that we'll see in Iron Fist and Doctor Strange.

To be fair, his costume is pretty shitty. The good thing was that everyone who wasn't a criminal only started hating him once he was framed for killing the cops.

So who was that dude Stick was reporting to when talking about if Matt was ready for the upcoming war?

Can't be silver samurai, Fox has him thanks to "The Wolverine".

I said this on the last page it's Stone, Stick's pupil/partner from the Chaste.

I still never got how much of an area Hell's Kitchen was supposed to encompass.
Was it an actual city, a ward, or still just a neighborhood?

And what was that about Kingpin's approval ratings, he wasn't running for anything.

Hells Kitchen is a disctrict.

Public opinion is still pretty important to all kinds of companies. Fisk was trying to tear down a lot of buildings that might turn public opinion against him.

Surprised to see so many people liked D'Onofrio, he came off as a complete fucking ham to me. Cookie Monster voice, ridiculous line readings, and those scenery-chewing fits of rage made him seem more like Lennie from Of Mice and Men than someone to be scared of. Like, I get that he was in Full Metal Jacket, but someone needed to tell him to rein that shit in. Trying to make a serious TV show here and he's turning one of the silliest performances in recent memory.

Loving the connection to other DD story arcs (Elektra, Hand, Karen's addiction in Born Again etc.), as well as Iron Fist hints.

Also, i think i'm the only one who found Stan Lee's cameo in ep13 lol, din't see it post it anywhere else:

I thought it made sense considering his past. He was an awkward child trying to act like a businessman. His Dad forced him to keep kicking anyone who went against him, and that's what he did to people. Whenever he went into a rage, he turned into a massive child, beating and kicking and throwing a tantrum. He acted like he never grew up.

The Kingpin, until his last scene in prison, was clearly a massive, angry man-baby deluding himself into thinking he was the good guy of the story and I feel D'Onofrio played that perfectly.

I loved his delivery on the "I am the ill intent" line
Really, whenever he got angry, and got that growl in his voice, he's terrifying. I love how he's switch from calm to insane rage in a second

"I always thought I was the Samaritan in that story.

It's funny, isn't it? How even the best of man can be deceived by their true natures.

It means that I'm not the Samaritan. That I'm not the priest, or the Levite.

That I am the ill intent... who set upon the traveler on a road that he should not have been on."

Cue bloody transport breakout. Loved that scene

We could see Urich back again if the Spidey movie takes place before Daredevil. Would that be possible? I don't know if that would make sense or not.

I think that would mean Spidey would have been around before the Battle of New York, which would be a headache on writer's part. It could be done, sure, but I'm 99% certain Spidey will take place after.

Just finished. I loved every minute. I did have a few observations/questions though.

In one episode, Stick is talking to a guy a in shadows, who was that?

The scene where DD hits up Gao's heroin warehouse. It looks like Gao sees him from the 2nd floor, says something to the workers where they swarm DD, cut to another scene and when we return Gao is on the 1st floor facing off against DD and the workers are calmly packing away. Seems like bad editing but maybe I missed something.

Melvin tells DD that the black parts of the suit offer the most protection and the red might stop a knife yet there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the actual color layout. All the joints are black, the cowl is red and plenty of the body suit are red where they clearly should be black as they are not covering a part that needs flexibility. I guess I'll have to chalk all that up to creative license.
