Dark Souls II Network Test | YOU DEFEATED

I just quit at 2:22, was still going for me. Gonna go sleep now. Couldn't figure out how to beat the Executioner boss, got trampled the two times I got to him >_<

Where was the other boss supposed to be located?

It still works for me but my friend said he quit and now it won't let him play any longer.

Same here. I went afk and came back to a guy invading me and killed him haha.

Behind the waterfall on the lower path with all the rogues.

There seems to be a bug (or a crude block) that doesn't allow you to log back into characters. I initially thought this was a repeat of FFXIV and tried logging in with my initial character, only to roll a new one and get in instantly. Then when I signed out to safely AFK I try to log back in and can't get into my new character either.

Wait...the code worked for everyone? Mine sure as hell said it was already used when I entered it. Hopefully I can get into the next one :/

Behind the waterfall on the lower path with all the rogues.

The waterfall doesn't really come to mind. I'll have to look more closely the next time around.

Also saw a vid of the Executioner, it was more simple than it seemed :x

After dying so many times where does the health bar stop.

Mine seemed to be a little below half.

I found that one, where the hell is the other one? Behind the four red/black phantom NPC's that kick my ass?

Yup.

Oh god. If the test is still up in the morning and it lets me login to my leveled up and defeated the other boss character I guess I'll attempt to summon someone and go that way to see him. Otherwise I'm impressed with most of the changes except not knowing if I'm hollow or not but I blame that on the HUD changing and hopefully that's made more apparent.

You lose max hp when you go hollow, i don't know how you can miss it.

I'm wearing full armor and I assumed the death was a penalty. Being hollow you do lose health on death to where Demon's "25% off" isn't a perma-indicator and I didn't know that at the time. It needs to be more apparent than the bar.

I backed off a ledge fighting the chariot lol. He was at like 1/10th health. Good enough for me :P

Edit: Is soapstone greyed out for anyone else?

Worthy successor, totally hooked. 6 months.. :(

I stopped seeing online stuff one hour into the test. The little I played of coop was good fun. Was too scared to go to the menu in case I couldn't get back in so I just played offline and am still going, won't turn off my ps3 until I have completely explored every inch.

Love so many of the little changes, like the player not interacting with the enemy corpses anymore.

Chariot is the most frustrating part of this demo. Two people can't fit in one of the hidey holes, so most runs start and kinda end with people getting slaughtered. Awesome looking boss though.

Two people can fit the holes on the side of the room. I used to think it was impossible too, till one guy got into cover with me. Guess you and me got bad luck the first time around.

Also, thank god they left the servers on a little later. Had no idea this beta had two bosses. Summoning was not working for me when I started. Luckily it started to work more or less after I got to the second area. Half the time the summon would fail. Enjoyed this beta so much can't wait for the next round.

Move away from the bonfire or boss-areas. It should let you put it down close but not super close to the bonfire. And if not that, try the mini-one.

Guys where can i find zwei? Does anyone know?

Near the second bonfire. Before the bridge going to the BIGGER bridge to the locked third bonfire. Before the first fat enemy dude with two scythes.

I agree that the bosses were too easy. In fact, I thought the standard enemies were tougher than the bosses themselves. Especially as a mage, where I could barely hold off standard enemies without taking a shitton of damage. Hopefully the whole game isn't like this.

Also, the auto-summoning upon invasion thing was lame too. It didn't even give me a chance to get my ass handed to me, it had a guy summoned before I could even confront the guy and the guy killed him before I felt he was even a threat.

Also yeah, the healing items were too plentiful, and that coupled with the healing spells destroyed any possible tension that could've existed.

Aw man, if it's STILL going I kinda want to jump in and see how far I can go afterall.

EDIT: Oh, beta went for an extra hour rather than a fully indefinite period. Meh, not really worth the effort.

The massive dual-shotel wielding bastards were easily the most difficult enemy in the entire beta for me. I found the phantoms incredibly easy in comparison.

I played a little with the Temple Knight guy and the Dual Wield guy. I tested out the other characters some but wasn't feeling the mage or the archer. I spent an hour and a half with the Warrior. I almost beat the Skeleton Lord boss...killed all three and all the skeletons except the pinwheels. They stopped me from winning. I stopped at that point. Was feeling stressed.

I gotta say it feels kinda weird somehow. Like it looks like Dark Souls but kinda different. Feels like it's much harder to parry and back attack now. I only parried maybe twice by accident. Not really sure how I feel about it. Can't say I liked the demo area much. And holy crap there were too many ninja-like enemies. There were maybe a few in any area in the other game, but this one you could get swarmed.

My thoughts as well.

I breezed through the bosses solo but had a pretty difficult time with those large butcher like things, especially when there were multiple enemies. Overall I had a great time though. Could feel myself getting hooked when it wouldn't let me through that last fog gate.

Yep.

So I killed this grim reaper looking NPC, paid 3000 souls in prayer at his gravestone, and he is now a ghost saying the same thing.

Wonder if this is some way to keep NPCs beyond the grave or something.

The chariot took me ages to figure out but once I did it was a piece of cake. Freaking awesome boss though.

If that's any indication of what this game is going to be like I can't wait to give it a go.

Those were my thoughts as well. In case you kill one and determine you didn't actually want him/her killed. Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Man, they picked a rough area to cut up as a beta testing chunk. It was dark in spots, labyrinthine in others, and it made getting summoned and summoning people kind of a chore if those people didn't know what they were doing (I did like 5 chariot runs where people didn't see the wall holes and just got one shot). It's hard to just get plopped down at a bonfire with no sense of where to go (I'm sure some people opened the troll chest, died, and quit the beta), but from what I played (beat both bosses) this seems to be a worthy successor to DS. Once I got the great axe and clocked in on backstabbing, I was taking down red phantoms with one backstab (doing like 800+ damage) and everything felt sort of right again.

My one complaint is that I never could summon anyone, but I'm sure that was a function of my ports not being opened or something and not their fault. I got summoned plenty though, and that experience seemed to be very quick (I'd put the sign down and within ten seconds I was in) which is probably a function of everyone being concentrated in these areas/at this level, but it makes me think it will work a lot better than it did in DS.

Is it just me, or do ragdolls no longer ragdoll? I was trying to get past an enemy and it was like he was made of stone (though he was just a standard enemy and nothing special).

Did anyone else notice that when dual welding two swords you can hold down triangle to change your stance. In the new stance the L2 attack will change to an attack where you swing both of your swords at the same time.

I love the changes made to dual welding!
