Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

Finished the game last night, and all of the bosses today. Overall, a great game. I don't like it as much as Dark Souls, but that's pretty much my favorite game of all time so I didn't expect to like it as much. For me, Dark Souls > Demon's Souls = Bloodborne = Dark Souls 3 >>> Dark Souls 2.

There are three bosses that I am legitimately interested to see how most players handle as I would put them on Smough & Ornstein level of difficulty. I really want to see people beat these bosses without any summons (including NPCs) -- I'm sure it's totally possible, but I wasn't able to do it.

They are:
The Prince Brothers, Nameless King, and to a lesser extent Pontiff.

Pretty far into the game
lothric castle
. I didnt see
anri in the catacombs
, is it still possible to continue her quest? If so where is she. I also killed
Horace

Depending on whether you talked to that NPC afterwards:

She'll be right before High Lord Wolnir's boss fog gate on the ledge opposite of the skeleton that looks over the giant pit.

OR

In Yorshka's Church

where is
darkmoon tomb?

Super huge mid-late game spoilers:

Where it was in Dark Souls 1

God damn that area after the
catacombs
.....

And I thought DS3 wasn't gonna top Bloodborne in the visual department. Man was I wrong.

What's the area called anyways, jp version makes it hard to figure out.
Irithyll of the Boreal Valley

Also what is the best build so far?

The one you experiment with to find out that you either lucked out, all are viable, or your build sucks so bad that you want to restart. But then restarting won't matter, because you'll know where to grab some early game stuff and breeze through up to where you previously quit.

Tip:
Don't pick the Sorcerer
unless they day one patch it. According to the few people in this thread that have actually tried it out, and a thread on another forum dedicated to it are saying that at least early on it's hot garbage. Some have even finished the game as one and say that it barely gets any better. The game is super new though, so there could be some important weapons and spell combinations not yet used much.

Glancing through the Pyromancy list however shows what appears to be some really strong buffs. The good news is that Pyromancy scales with INT and FTH, so you have the option to use either Sorceries or Miracles if you want as well. Although it might actually scale in such a way that it will be better to go to the soft cap with both INT and FTH if you want to make the most out of your direct damage dealing Pyromancies. Dunno. If that's the case, I actually think that's pretty cool, because it means you have to choose between maxing out one of the three schools, or doing a hybrid Pyromancy/X where your Pyromancy spells are more for utility than direct damage later on.

2.
If you want a good straight sword get the Lothric Knight Sword from the red caped knights at the High Wall of Lothric, essentially the Balder Side Sword from DS1

So a classic variant of the
DEX Pryo
confirmed!

Can you still kill every npc for stuff before moving on to ng+ without repercussions?

Dang not in any of those places. Heard there was one other place in Catacomb's. If i cant find her i guess i buggered it up.

Are those snake bros from DS1 in the game at all?

I miss Frampt :(

I was kinda hoping after you downed a Lord of Cinder
they would actually appear on their thrones and talk to you or something instead of just those little things that pop up after after you place them.

any tips?

When the other ones spawn run to the other side of the room and let them all fight it out. Once they're dead go in for a few hits since he's pretty squishy. More will come and just repeat.

For the second phase the attacks seemed pretty easy to dodge, just don't get too greedy on hits.

Oh

You may not have talked to her in her original spot in Catacomb's then. I goofed up the quest, too, but it seemed to work out for me. Her *first* spot in the catacombs is near the long stair case that has a boulder roll down it. Instead of going down the stair case, go into the smaller corridor off to the side (opposite from where you come in). Should lead to an isolated area and cliff with Anri in it.

If you already talked to her there then she *must* be in the room prior to Wolnir.

I want somebody to label the overlook after Vordt. I think I can figure everything out, but I think at least one major location is invisible from your viewpoint, and another I can't identify.

What does that mean "Cheese with leveling. . ."

Pretty sure he's talking about finding an enemy, or group of enemies that give a decent amount of souls close to a bonfire and just grinding on them for a while. It doesn't really trivialize anything, but it can make the experience overall less taxing; if not slightly more boring. You could do this in Dark Souls to level up your Pyromancy flame to a decent level early, or it allowed you to use better gear really early.

Then again, the Master Key was the ultimate for cheese leveling since it gave you access to so many good items at the start of the game.

About the ending/s

what are the requirements for the usurpation of fire ending? that's the 'true ending' like the one you fight with the Moon Presence in Bloodborne, right?
.

I farm more in Souls games than I do in Stardew Valley, come at me Sanctuary!

That forest with the ghosts in DS and the black knights in the lava place in DS2 were my jam. I dont care!

I farmed Darkroot Garden during my first playthrough (up to like level 82 and a maxed out Pyro flame until it was super boring) using the suicide cheese. Then I farmed that Silver Knight in Anor Londo that was in the room directly across from the bonfire. I also exploited the fuck out of Havel using the doorway and Zweihander.

Hmm...I found a little blue light. Is it the hall 4 skeletons and leads to nothing? Or another room down the stairs?

There's a hallway that goes down to a crystal lizard she was originally in, the ledge overlooks the staircase the skeleton thing rolls down.

I still never finished all of the Dark Souls 2 DLC. Each time I think about doing it, I just think about how I'd rather just play Dark Souls again (and not because I "hate" Dark Souls 2, I just like the flow of the previous game more).

I get you, im the same in reverse. I finished DS2 like...3 times now? 4? I dont even know, and at least one of them I fully intended to replay DS1 and then somehow just ended up playing 2 again. It will probably be the aame with 3, I think I just gravitate to the latest one I guess

Yeah I feel you....the DLC is really really good though and I'm in the 'I don't hate but don't love DS2' camp.

From inside Firelink shrine, head towards the front entrance and there are sets of stairs going up on either side of the doorway, take the staircase to your left and you'll see where you can go outside and up to the tower.
Thank you. Strangely, the exit was covered with fog and I couldn't go in for awhile. On my 3rd trip up there the fog finally dissipated.

The reason there isn't fatigue is because FromSoft is basically the only one making this type of game. There are a couple homages out there (Salt & Sanctuary and Lords of the Fallen) but it's not like most other genres where it's done to death. Dark Souls is a unique experience. Burnout ain't gonna happen, I could play 5 games a year like this without getting burned out
Not only that but From continuously keeps it fresh with their stellar level and creature design.

Just beat the
Abyss Watchers.
This game basically feels like a much, MUCH more refined Dark Souls 1 imo. Incredible stuff.

You are referring to merchant upgrade?

Yes.

edit:

if another watcher was summoned back off until another one spawns and distract one of them

Thank you, bout to go back in

Any DS1 style "shoot the dragon's tail off from under the bridge with 589 arrows" cheese in DS3?
