Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

OK, I cannot figure out the covenant stuff as Google translate does a poor job at it. So far, I have (what I think) are two covenant items.
The blue sentinel one and Solaires one
The problem is, I cannot figure out how to activate them. When I go to my inventory I can highlight one and press what I believe is Japanese for "accept" but as soon as I back out it goes grey again. How do I tell if I am in the covenant?

Also, the guy who lets you
level up 5 times
. I got it to work once and then
talked to the firekeeper, gave her the firekeeper soul from the tower and she removed the dark sigil
But I don't know what the hell the
dark sigil
does lol. Is it worth it to have it removed and keep
leveling up with the guy? It costs about as much to remove it as it does to just level up regularly but I dont want to miss out on a quest.

Anyway, what a game! 6 hours and I'm burnt making rookie mistakes. Time for bed soon. This game is my favorite so far. Just a great world and great combat.

Oh, about meeting
onion suit guy. How the heck do I make the ladder go up????

People need to Co-Op in DS3? Got the PS4 version and my IP has now apparently been blocked by PSN, so playing in JP with no online. Lost my save after 6 bosses and had to start over, this run I've cleared every boss so far on 1st attempt solo including 2 I didn't fight before my save was corrupted.
Your IP has been what? I've been doing tons of co-op since launch.

There aren't as many areas looping around to previous ones like there were in DaS1 with firelink shrine. However the levels themselves tend to be bigger, more complex, have more shortcuts and possible paths.
Right. And you can get from one to the other all the time, which I know some people were worried about because of Bloodborne and the Demon's Souls vibes I think.

Been avoiding everything about the game until release but would like to know where it stands in terms of difficulty compared to the previous souls games.

theres a slot you can change covenants on the fly now

walk on the elevator button and get off before it goes down!

Thank you. Strangely, the exit was covered with fog and I couldn't go in for awhile. On my 3rd trip up there the fog finally dissipated.

I assume it's some loading time optimiziation - since you go back to that area constantly, the game only loads the interior which makes it quicker. (Also just a guess but maybe that also means they don't need to fully swap out of memory the area you fast traveled from, so it's quicker to go back)

Does hollowing affect endings

So can anyone confirm if the levels are interconnected ALA Dark Souls?

It feels like DS2 in a sense you can visit most areas on foot, but the levels design are good.

nothing like DS1 honestly but it's fine as long as level design as good.

Any DS1 style "shoot the dragon's tail off from under the bridge with 589 arrows" cheese in DS3?

I beat a dragon by hitting nothing but the tail and no weapon was dropped :(

Hit level 50 tonight so I did my customary thing to drag out a first playthrough (so as to squeeze every possible ounce of fun and not rush to the end) and I am very curious about a place I can see but cannot figure out how to get to... (Second non-tutorial area)

So, near
the dude with the giant metal club sitting outside the cell with a "failed fire keeper"
there is a narrow valley
that seems to have an overly aggressive kill box for falling into it, but from other angles seems to be somewhere I should be able to explore and drop down from to get to the items under the bridge just outside the rat corridor shortcut.

Please just yes/no this with no details: 1. Is this area reachable? 2. Will I end up here later (yes) or did I miss something (no)?

1) It's in japanese though, I cant figure it out lol

2) Lawd, I'm such an idiot. Thanks!

see the big diamond shape on the equip part of the menu...its that!

don't feel bad...i spent like half the day trying to figure out how I accidentally flipped the x-axis on the camera.

Okay, got my first decent miracle, and I've tested it.

HVEe3Gk.jpg

It's a buff to offense and defense. It has the same icon as Sacred Oath from Dark Souls 2, so it's probably the same thing, which means it also applies to any party members.

It was the reward for turning in 10 medallions to the sunlight covenant.

I tested the numbers a bit to see what it was getting me. My damage against the test enemies went from 303 per hit without the buff to 333 per hit with the buff. My defensive stats raised as well, with my physical defense going from 26.1 to 33.5. The buff lasts one minute, requires 2 slots, and at 15 attunement took up about half my mana bar.

Here's what it looks like in action. I was out to test it and happened to get invaded. Fun.

(The sound cut out midway through, some glitch with the capture I guess)

Yeah, I go into that and then I see the two covenant items. I click on one and the menu has like 5 things itemized in Japanese. The first 3 are grayed out. I select the 4th one down and it makes a sound like I equipped something but then I hit the back button and it go grayed out again. Is there a way to tell from the main screen if I am in a covenant?

Deacons boss is a sweet relief after Abyss and Wolnir. Probably did them out of order so I was over leveled. Spoiler part:
first time in I was like this is easy just taking my time, etc. next thing I know I'm cursed lol. Yeah, attack, attack, attack. Easiest real boss so far.

no idea since I've only been in the SunBros and havent attempted to change even though I've discovered other covenants since. you got a smart phone? bust it out with Google translate and use the phone camera to text thing to figure out some of the menu shit that you cant find it online.

could use some late game help as I'm stuck:

I have 3 lords of cinder beat but I have no idea where to go next. I just beat Yhorn.

You should get teleported after beating Yhorn. But if you didn't simply go to the chapel on the Lothric wall.

Yeah, Google translate is giving me issues. Oh well, half the fun of Souls is trying to figure out what in the hell is going on, lol. Thanks for the input.

This game is what you get when Demons' Soul and Dark Souls 1 have a baby. Amazing level design, beautiful large areas, aggressive enemies, and cool as fuck bosses. Sometimes I think I'm playing DS again.

Got hit by a great arrow :(

It's definitely reminiscent of Demon's Souls in many places! I've still played for only 8 hours or so, but there's a good chance that this might just be the best one yet... Been completely excellent so far.

This game needs ADP badly. Seriously some of these enemies are way too fast for a Dark Souls game. For example:
The dancers at the beginning of the ice level, why are they able to spam their spin attack, a spin attack that tracks and thus hits you during a dodge?

I shouldn't have to wear a ring to get i-frames.

thats really weird man...I just went into the menu and was able to swap out a covenant with no extra text/menus. its the thing just right of your armor and rings for equiping...

Thanks!

I did but I used a homeward bone to save the souls I had, and didn't know how to get back there. Which bonfire is close to the chapel? I've been in the tombs and my brain has been washed of the earlier areas.

It's at the other end of the area of
Vordt of the Boreal Valley

Yeah, I think I've got it now. I select it and then the little save/flame thing does it's thing. It's just I don't see how to confirm if I am in it for sure or not. Plus, I've been playing for about 7 hour straight so I'm kind of burnt out lol.

Your IP has been what? I've been doing tons of co-op since launch.

I can't access any of the Playstation network stuff, tried PS4, PS3, PSTV, and 2 PCs anything connected to my network can't access PSN. No friends lists, no store, no updates, no online. Can't even download games I've bought from PSN that aren't currently installed(It's not my internet, can still watch Netflix perfectly fine on my PS3/4). Hoping it's just an error and I can get it fixed after the Easter Weekend..Apparently the only thing I can do to fix it otherwise is get a new IP, which from what I've been told can only be done by leaving my router off for 48hrs to reset.

Ok, there is a solution to the issues some people are having with the Firelink NPC G
reirat
-
if you send him on a quest to Irithyll (snow area), he will die in the Irithyll sewers (remember the sewer area with spider like enemies before the small black knight encampment), you will find his body and the Greirat's ashes item there (three dormant spiders are close to it, I assume they are activated if you just take the ashes)

It gets better and better. It feels like a love letter to all Souls fans. I wish it looked and ran a bit better but I'll prolly get the PC version later as well.

Can you access this site? If not, then yeah something is wrong.

Where are the miracle and sorcery NPCs? I have a ton of books for them, defeated 11 bosses so far and haven't seen them anywhere.

Miracle:
Towards the end of undead settlement right before road of sacrifice -- requires a key from shrine maiden and an out of the way route

Sorcery:
Right before Crystal Sage, instead of going into the large room (approaching the boss) take a left out into what looks like a dead end broken ledge and there's a somewhat hidden path up along side the cliff wall; There is another just after discovering (being dropped off at) the undead settlement in the large group of dead pilgrims.

For the miracles you can get there without a key. Decent health (or Spook) and dropping down required.

Thanks, will check both!

Access Denied. You do not have permission to access.

My only real complaint about DS3 so far, is glitchy backstabs..Get behind the enemy and attack just as they're turning and you'll go into the animation...but the enemy can move freely and you're just a sitting duck for 2-3 seconds.
