The trailers were all amazing yeah. Got to give props to the marketing department. They did a great job with hyping this game up.
Yeah and the best part is that it's not even the actual gameplay shown that is good. It's the fact that it's so well implemented with the music. When the player gets hit by something fierce, the song gets more 'ompf'. Really good!

Nothing from what I know... though you know about the path above right? If you aim the boulder to this specific place, it'll go through the wall and you'll get phat loot inside.

That is the last thing I'd do. Someone will just kill Ornstein first and fuck my game save up :(
NG+ :p

The point of the game is the combat....
not for everyone it isn't. I enjoy the game primarily for the exploration and secondarily for the combat. There is a very significant amount of people that would enjoy the game even if you drastically dumbed down the combat.

I always thought Demon's/Dark souls would benefit from having an easy mode that:
1. Doubled player health and damage
2. Let you keep your souls when die

I would never play it that way, but I think it would sell better and be more popular without detracting from the game because such a thing would be trivial to implement.

On your first playthrough, just use it asap. You never know when you might die twice in a row and lose all humanity. Get +10 Flasks for the necessary bonfires (they'll be +10 for NG+).

Cool. Thanks. I'm still getting used to the controls. I can't tell you how many Estus Flasks I've wasted by hitting the wrong button when I meant to attack...then in doing so leaving myself open to attack and losing more health. :| So the more Flasks, the better.

I was also enjoying the exploration... then I found out that Valley of Drakes
was smaller than my non-infected finger
:(

Those people can go play thousands of other games on the market then.

hahaha! Dude when I was replaying my faith character someone was doing this, I just ran forward and let the boss kill me. I was like fuck that. Then I solo'd them and beat them in one try :3

It's pretty simple really, the thing is ornstein doesnt really attack much when there are two of them and you focus on the big dude

And skyrim is coming out later just for them :D

If I wanted to play a large open game with god awful nasty as fuck mind-numbingly dull combat I would just play an Elder Scrolls game.

Ornstein and Smough
You've
opened up three new paths, pretty much. Each one leading to a different hell-hole. You can choose to go to Anor Londo, Catacombs or Demon Ruins. The yellow mist-gates that were previously closed should be opened now.

lol we had very different experiences. Ornstein was in my face constantly(well, wacking me with his long-ass spear).

To anyone that has ever complained about Lost Izalith...I finally get it.
These dragons have terrible HP, but they are damn difficult to kill without falling into lava and then getting trampled

I don't know if this is just a coincidence, but Ornstein seemed to be much less aggressive when I was targeting him with my shield up while backing away from the two of them. When I turned tail and ran the first 20 times I died in this fight, he was fucking relentless.

Maybe I was just more prepared while doing that, or maybe his attack patterns are effected by that.

Man, Dark Souls story is intricate as fuck. I hope there is a Dark Souls 2 where you meet more of the Gods.

EDIT: "I want a version of the movie with narrator explains everything". I rather they don't add an easy mode, but it would probably help them sell more.

They seem to be selling alot even with the difficulty of the game. Especially since its not cheap, more along the lines of something that encourages you to give it a shot one more time.

EDIT: Wow Havel was cake after ambushing him through the
Darkroot Basin
backdoor.

What in the... I'm attempting to fight the Titanite Demon in Lost Izalith and for some reason the guy has more HP than every boss I have fought up to now and can two shot my SL 88 character. What in the hell is going on here?

Well there are times were he does go ape shit, you just gotta GTFO and back to fatty. The goal of the fight is to pick your attacks. The best time to mount any offensives vs fatty is during a missed butt stomp you can get hits in other times, but that is the safest. Also never let orn get to far away from you keep him close. As he has that stupid ass dash hit.

He's the one on that tight-as-hell bridge right? If you've got any spells, you can cheese him out easily by pulling him, running away and repeat process.

On my new playthrough I think I am going to beat the game with a whip, but you get the whip a bit later in the game(Blighttown). I think I messed up my hard run by fully upgrading my scimitar to Queelang(or whatever) Fury Sword and maybe was a little too high soul level(despite trying to avoid it lol). I kind want to make it a Divine Whip...

I found that the dash hit is hard to dodge while distracted, but once you can consistently dodge it at any given moment, it is a good time to lay a few hits in.

And it would kill the game's core conceit. The whole point is that it doesn't bow to modern gaming concessions. That's a big part of why people like it. It's heavy on risk/reward and almost everything about the game surrounds that notion, from the combat to NPC interactions to level progression.

There already exist relatively easier methods to get through the game, and purposefully implemented by the dev. The option to simply grind souls to over-level yourself, made even easier this time with the bonfire system. The Drake Sword found so early in the game and so dominant at that point. The summons, both NPC and co-op, or both at the same time. You can also be summoned for bosses you haven't fought or beat in your own world yet, so you can basically use others to help in learning boss patterns.

There are already several things people can do for help if their intention is to get through the game. It'll still be challenging, because the game doesn't play itself.

Personally, I've got a rule for this fight when I help somebody with it:
I wait to see who the host attacks first, and then I attack the same guy. If they want to do the "Minions, attack!" approach where they cower in the corner while me and another hapless sap do all the dirty work, I kill Smough first.

It seems to be a pretty good system.

In the Painting World you can get a Thorn Whip which has a high bleeding rate on it! ( Have to be in human form to get invaded by AI black phantom to get it though. )
You can turn that one into Divine as well. :)

You can be soul level 720 and the last 1/3rd of the game is gonna fucking kick your ass though if you havent wrapped your head around everything. I will say though that summoning help really kills the boss fights and ruins the game to me. Been doing this on my sorc and its like ... wow how fucking unintense is this shit LOL

There's whips in this game? That sounds badass.

ONLINE/SUMMONS HELP:

So I STILL dont see Summon's anywhere, and can't summon anyone.

What are the Network settings on your PS3 that I should check to make sure I have it right?

Thanks!

Start with a master key then go to valley of drakes, pick up spider shield, then go to blighttown from there for the whip. Definitely doable as soon as you reach firelink.

Isn't that after the fucking Capra Demon? lol

EDIT: Isn't it possible to drop weapons for others to pick up? I don't mind cheating in that fashion for this build.

I want... Lost Izalith to GTFO. How many of these
giant dragons
are there? Can I rush through here without
fighting them?
.

Edit: Wait a minute, do these not
respawn?

Yo 1st strike for all those people running around with 50+ humanity are they getting that legitly through say PvP and items, or is that number pretty unreasonable meaning they probably glitched the item. Because there are a ton of PvPers in the Book of the Guilty that are running massive amounts of humanity.
If I farmed the rats near hellkite I could get fifty humanity in an hour or two.

I honestly have no idea. If you beat the gargoyles, he'll move to Firelink Shrine. But the npc by the bell tower after the Gargoyles can wipe any aggro you've gained from npcs for a price.

No, he will not move to Firelink Shrine if he is aggro. When I was first let him out of the cage, I knew nothing about him but decided I didn't like him so I attacked. It turned it he was much stronger than I was and killed me. He then stays in that stairwell area until you go back and fight him again. I did just that, and you get that "ring of favor and protection".

@the guy who accidentally hit him: The only downside to having killed him is that I don't have the stone you need to invade people. Might be a big deal depending on how you want to play the game.

Riposte said:
Ohhhh yeah! I didn't even consider that lol. Good idea.

Master Keys makes for some incredible sequence breaking.
Though I still recommend drake sword first just so you can two shot the bugs there

I racked up about 35 humanity in about 2 hours of pvping

1. a lot
2. yes, also there is a
hidden bonfire
. At the second tower you can
attack one of the walls to destroy it

You can probably handle them. One tip is that they damage themselves, so you are free to bait them into that first building and play around there while they butcher each other. Other than that, focus on evasion and punish while they either do the stomp or leap into the air(which is fucking awesome, btw).

That reminds me, I am going to try to beat the dragon with melee. I hope he doesn't auto-die on me while pulling him...
