Just defeated
Seathe
solo. Dam that tail thrashing. My favorite weapon right now is Lightning Uchigatana +5. Next is my Iaito +14 :/

What is weird is that the Lightning Uchi +5 gives me more souls for backstab kills then Iaito +14.

I did Smough second in my first playthrough, and Ornstein second in NG+. Hardest fight in the game so far.

I agree for the most part, but optionally beating the Asylum Demon on the first encounter(on a fresh character without black firebombs) is way more of an endurance test. Not as fun though lol.

EDIT: I think the item description explains how to cast magic? And the NPC explains where to go. Hmmm, then again, not very accessible. "Malicious" game makers :).

I still have the post-Anor Lando bosses to do (and Sif) but it wouldn't surprise me if
Jumbo
Ornstein is the toughest fight in the game. He deals lightning damage, the range on his spear is just filthy in his second phase, and he also gets some one-hit kill attacks.

and yet he gives the game a 8, in his opinion, I think he is trying to avoid a war if he gave it any lower. I think he would have gave it a 5-7.
He called the game boring cause it's "hard work"

I need some help.

1. My character is level 25 and is as slow as molasses in terms of moving. SLOW SLOW SLOW. Whether he is wearing leather or knight armor, he is SLOW SLOW SLOW. What can I do to speed him up?

2. I heard its possible to soul farm in the church before the gargoyles boss by killing the big knights over and over. Only problem is after I killed them the first time they won't respawn after I go to the bon fire.

3. What type of shield can I find in the area of the church and undead burg that will help with the gargoyle boss?

He has never played a game so hard and that takes some sort of skills to overcome. I know he plays ST and in order to get decent at it, you have to put in hard work. But he questions that because he is not play Dark Souls for a tournament lol.

Is it bad that I used the guide to find out that Ornstein drops a ring if killed first and did a suicide run to get it, then die and kill him second to get the smexy armor :)

Haha, what kind of ring does he drop?

I <3 Ornstein's armor. Damn shame it can't be upgraded.

1. Check your equip load in Status menu, if you want to move faster, keep this amount lower than 50% of total. Don't forget you can run.

2. Not possible, you can however kill those 3 rapier knights.

3.The best shield you get here is the Knight Shield.

The worst thing about it is that he should understand the fundamentals of gaining skill through effort and struggle, but I imagine many fighting game players are too dumb to have a larger philosophy about it.

ah she is close to those guys, thanks.

While I agree with DSP on some explanation on crucial functions of the game, FROM should have included mandatory practice mode before tackling the game for the new players. It didn't take me that long to learn how to play Demon's Souls and it certainly doesn't take as long as playing ST the right way.

I summoned a guy for
4 Kings
and things got out of control. Boss was at like 30% health and he died and I was panicking and knew I couldn't win 1v4. Then I used a homeward bone.

I did, but it illiterate only once and it doesn't "click" for new players instantly.

If you speak to the cynical Firelink guy at the start of the game a few times he actually recommends that you go after the top bell tower first. I just think people either tuned him out or stopped talking to him since he's such a downer. :P

I've been rocking the ring of favor and protection for a while now, but there are so many other rings that I think I'd rather be wearing in tandem with each other. Considering that it breaks though when you take it off, I haven't been able to force myself to take it off yet... Dark Wood Grain Ring + Hornet ring are calling me. :(

I was booted up my game yesterday evening, I noticed he wasn't there. I went to New Londo Ruins to do a little farming, then I see him there trying to kill me...

My equip load is 42 out of 48 and that is just me carrying my armor, shield, 2 weapons, estus flasx, and a few more items. I can't get it down to 50% Also this is going to sound dumb but for the PS3 what do you press to run?

Heh yeah I've been wearing it since I got it as well but I'm considering removing it. It only boosts equip burden by 20%, which is nice, but it's no Havel's Ring.

Also before getting it I thought its stamina boost increased the regen rate (like Eternal Warrior's ring from the first game), not just added a bit to your max stamina count. I see myself taking it off once I find a suitable replacement.

lmao yep that happened to me as well, and just yesterday too. Didn't even recognize him at first. What a douche.

Im on what seems to be the final boss. Is there any stuff i should do on this playthrough before I beat it? I figured I should get all the firekeepers souls and upgrade my flask all the way since those will carry over. How about stuff like giving embers to blacksmiths, will that carry over? Anything else i should do?

i think the general gamers are babysitted to death with the current-gen games

The first he mentions (game not explaining some stuff like how to use magic) I totally agree with. Just like the prequel, DS is really bad at that.

I disagree with everything else he says tho.

actually, i recall the game mentions on how to use magic.

Possible game breaking bug?

Did this game just screw me out of a character with fucking 55 hrs of playtime? I'm in The Duke's Archives, I die and I get send straight to a bonfire I had never been before. I wanted to leave anyway so I light the bonfire and try it says its unconnected. I'm like ok WTF. So I walk around a bit and look for a door, but both doors are closed! I dont have a key for them! There are only three enemies, crystal bastards trying to kill me but I cannot get out of this fucking room?

What the fuck Dark Souls/From Software??????????

Only if you don't pay attention to the signs on the ground that is. The game's intro level gives you all the game mechanics including how to cast magic by reading the signs on the ground.

Did they fix the farming spot past the 20k door? I just died 3 times in a row trying it. The mage seems like a sharp shooter now.

I'm not even trying to farm, I just want to get through there...

I kinda feel a little bad for farming there :/ I didn't go crazy or anything, just enough to buy the items from the merchant in the Depths. And maybe a level or two.

I didn't go crazy either...

what the fuck. 3 more deaths. The mage. Never hit me before. Now hits me enough to let the others catch up... then when I get to "the spot" they drop down but don't fall. idk what I'm doin wrong.

My problem is that now that I'm spending more time towards the mid-to-end game, I'm wanting to do more PvP so I have either the darkmoon ring or forest ring on. This isn't too bad though until you consider that I also want to farm stuff, and so need to have the covetting ring on as well. From really, really did wonders balancing the ring of favor and protection... It seems to be such a great utility ring until you being to really realize how limiting it is.

Fuck.

I can't decide. :P

not a bug, you need to kill the lizard from behind the gate to get to the key to open the door, you had been imprisoned when you died.

It mentions that perhaps, but doesn't really explain properly. The fact that you need to be at bonfire to assign spells for example, I must have missed that part.

How do you run in Dark Souls?
Holding the Circle/B button lets you run.

While running, Let it go and pressing the same button lets you do a jump roll.
Pressing it once with no direction gives you a back step
