Blighttown is like 60 seconds away from Firelink Shrine. Why is that bad?

Actually, you can just warp to Chaos covenant. Quit your bitching!
i can't teleport there! Do i have to be in the covenant? (and i killed that thing near the spider)

is there a way to get out of anor lando? I want to get back to firelink before taking on this boss.

Yep just go back to the start of the level not to far from the first bonfire and gargoyles will carry you back to Sen's.

Ceaseless Discharge thing looks weird because it looks like he jumps forward and his hand grabs the ledge. Does he do that during the normal fight? Haven't faced that guy yet.

Yeah, everyone can kill him like that if they choose.

Run back to where the gargoyle dropped you and you can return to Sen's, otherwise
when you beat the boss you gain a bonfire warp item.

Talk to the gargoyle thing at the beginning.

Then you'll probably want to find the cage key at Sen's to expedite traveling until you get a warp ability.

No that's the only time the boss does that ledge grab thing which makes me believe that this trick was intentionally put into the game.

Kyoufu said:
He doesn't need to hang on to the ledge on the normal fight.

I mean him landing his hand on the ground near you, giving you melee shots. Sorta similar to the
Moonlight Butterfly
landing her head on the ground occasionally for the same purpose.

thanks for all the answers!

I didnt think I could go back to the fortress since that way, but sometimes the most obvious answer is the correct one heh.

Well then if Absolution doesn't work then your only real choice is taking the Valley of Drakes shortcut to Blight.

I don't understand how anyone could think it's a glitch. These animations in software are explicitly coded. It only happens if you run to a certain location.

1. Check your equip load in Status menu, if you want to move faster, keep this amount lower than 50% of total. Don't forget you can run.

2. Not possible, you can however kill those 3 rapier knights.

3.The best shield you get here is the Knight Shield.
Hm? Even over the rare Balder Shield the knights drop?

Yeah with the safe spot you wail on it that way.

Also, that method is NOT a glitch. The boss doesn't randomly fall off, the health bar flashes indicating that it's time is over and then it falls.

100% intentional. It's a gimmick fight.

Has there been any indication of how Dark Souls sold stateside?

I have a feeling that it will be a quick million seller.

I doubt it sells a million. Maybe 500k combined. Maybe I'm pessimistic but I don't see the masses flocking to such a brutal game.

If he's talking about the Black Knight Shield it is pretty damn boss. It has 100 physical and 95 Fire resist. I don't recall the others but they are solid as well.

He's jumping forward to try and hit you and grabs the ledge; there's a giant pit under that specific part of the area it can't get over otherwise. You hit his arm and he falls to his death because of it.

No way is that a glitch.

If you run to the altar that had the gold-hemmed set on it and then run back to the fog gate it jumps off edge of the land it is walking on and grabs onto the ledge, but if you die and go back then it just sits and fires long range attacks at you until you run to the altar and back.

Leaving covenants by joining others = sin? Still not clear on it.

If you join the Forest covenant never explore there again otherwise you could possibly get an AI to suicide and lose the pact.

Leaving covenants might be 'sinning', but it doesn't affect the covenant you are leaving. I left the forest one for the crazy egg one, but I am now free to rejoin the forest one.

I REALLY hope From deliver a patch that optimises the mp in a timely fashion. As it stands, there is just too many barriers to entry to make it work. Human form, location, has to be before the person has beaten a boss, soul level, and covenants.

I really hope they refine it to enable some way for pvp covenants to easily play together. I'm getting sick of wasting cracked red eye orbs, and seeing the 'failed to invade' message pop up 2 minutes later. For a start, you shouldn't need to be a particular area to invade someone else. It should just put you anywhere in the game. Every time I've successfully invaded (twice out of twenty attempts), it's been in the area I used the orb.

People have said that his falling animation is basically identical to his death animation, though. That's why I'm wondering if he normally puts his hand on the ground like that. If it's only in that one particular instance where he happens to put his hand on the ledge, it seems pretty conclusive.

But if he does that throughout the fight as a way to give melee players some free shots, it's fishy and could just be a coincidental glitch.

Actually there is a massive drop there. That's why he jumps in the first place and grabs onto the rubble.
o.o Guess I just failed then x.x haha never realized there was a drop off there, the area I checked out below from was were you got the armor, and the taurus guys are chilling there

so what happens if you let him cling there for a while?

When I did this fight I could literally not get him to go into the pit. I would stand at the fog gate all day and he would not move past a certain point, he just sat there and spammed his fire shockwave thing. I had to kill him the old fashioned way.

So you're saying it's basically a long-range fight unless you do it using this method? That would make it pretty cut-and-dry.

I think he only drops his tentacles on the ground with a blast and not his actual hand. They look different, but then again it's just what I saw from the 20 seconds when I tried to fight it.

No you can melee him. Either up close, or make him use his long range slap over and over at the altar

God the Tomb of the Giants sucks. Can't wait until this is over. I have cast light and it's still annoying as hell. Can't imaging going through this without it.

You can lure it to a tight hallway inbetween the fog and where he rests at.

It slams its arms into the hallway letting you smack it til for a bit. Rinse and repeat.

He attacks with a long reaching attack but after it ends there's a brief moment where you can strike his hand which was projected towards you. It's a really lame boss, I suggest cheesing. :P

You will always invade in the area you're in. That's how that works. The covenants that summon you will summon you to that particular area. You have to be smart about it, yourself. You can only invade in some place where the area boss for the player is still alive, so going back to Undead Burg and trying to invade will only let you invade those in your level range that are also on NG+ (unless, of course, you're using the first four you find in the game). You have to try and get a feel of what level players are where, and invade them there.

I wish PvP covenants were available as early as the black eye stone was in DeS (early 2-1)

I wish you didn't use a cracked orb with every failed attempt. That is just stupid.

Nah, there's a shield near the church called the Knight Shield. It's also the same area you can acquire the Balder Shield from the Balder Knights guarding the place. It's a rare drop, though. Got in on my first character by accident during my initial encounter with one of them but it took me two hours of farming the Balders before I got it again. And this was with 5hum. 10 hours in and it's the most badass looking shield I've seen so far. Starts with 66 stability, to boot.

Anyway, I didn't give the Knight Shield much more than a lookover. I was wondering if it was superior in any way I didn't know about.

there's an item in there that can be used to light it up. Near the second bonfire.

So I'm in my second playthrough and this game is REALLY easy now. First run through was hard/downright frustrating at times, but damn it's easy as hell once you know the ropes.

Leveling up doesn't change the fact that enemies with good weapons can still do a ton of damage.
I never remember him one shotting me before, though. That's the thing. It seems significantly harder since I've levelled up a couple times.

I'm just wondering if he ever slams his hand down in that same fashion other than when he's seemingly grabbing the ledge. Like if you're just fighting him normally away from the fog gate, does he ever try to squash you with his hand in that same way? If not then the answer is clear. It has to be purposeful. If he does then who the f really knows. :P

I will say if it really is a glitch then it seems like one hell of a coincidence. He even does this little leap across and really does seem to be trying to hold on rather than attack. :P

What level are most people doing Demon Ruins at?

I'm in Human form so I've been trying to find summon signs to make the most of it but I haven't seen any summon signs at all.

finalozzo said:
do you guys know how can i reach the giant blacksmith from the princess bonfire?
Two ways:
There should be a spiral staircase nearby that leads down directly to him, or if you remember a broken window on the way in (the one that didn't lead to the room with the giant painting), use it to go outside and it'll lead to the left side of the gate.

Just remember to unlock the closed door in order to get a shortcut to him on later runs.

His normal smashy-smashy attack is a completely different animation. It's not a glitch, just like being able to
make the Iron Golem lose his balance and topple off the top of Sen's Fortress
isn't a glitch.

I fought that guy for 2 hours and not once did he use that hand to attack. That has to be him holding on for life over the pit.

As expected Whips are useless in PvP. Either that or I was fighting someone(invaded as a black phantom) who glitched for higher stats. He had fog ring and a lightning polearm at SL20ish and at the undead parish, so I don't know...

Other than that, the whip is a lot of fun.
