Yeah my only hope is if they get hit by enviromental objects.

I am thinking about grinding for awhile. Anyone know of some good areas to grind for SL 30 something?

wait, I know that Ether had problems with Taurus like 24 hours ago... he's not stuck there still, is he? Please say he isn't...

Maybe but everytime I tried I could only be summoned by other people in levels I had not beaten. If I had already beaten the level they would never see my souls sign. Maybe a weird glitch or something but that is why I said that.

That's weird - there were a few nights where I'd help people kill a boss, suicide and place a new sign and rinse/repeat just because I liked the fight.

Okay... So the Hellkite dragon is
melee-able... Anyone actually do it that way instead of just peppering him with arrows?

I've ran into a slight bug I think where hitting him with arrows is no longer damaging him. I get the numbers pop up to indicate damage but no change in his health.

Edit with a spoiler tag just to make sure no one is upset by me saying this...

If you go back through where those ice dudes were near the hydra, go back to the cliff path that you came down to get to the hydra and there will be a path leading down. Look for that and if you go down the cliffside a bit there's one there as well as an elevator. You do have to fight a pretty tough guy to get down there but the reward is worth it and you can go up the cliff and run straight past those ice dudes to the ladder and you won't have to fight anyone until you get to the cat from here on out.

Even the regular mobs are now killing me.

It's impossible to make the difference between an enemy losing their balance, or preparing a powerful attack. If it is losing balance, I should attack, but no, it was preparing an attack, so we both hit at the same time and lose health.

They are only 'now' killing you? What is the difference between now and before?

You just need to take a breather. All the enemies leading up to Taurus are fairly simple: let them hit you once with your shield up, then counter with a few hits. Rinse and repeat. This is the careful strategy if you're worried about taking damage. As Wanderer or Thief, it's easy to also move around the enemy after they swing a spear/sword for a quick instadeath backstab. The firebomb guys can be taken out from a distance with a bow if you're REALLY nervous, or just with a little quality dodging. Once you get to Taurus, run around to the ladder and do your first head plunge. When you get off, immediately lure him a few steps away from the ladder, dodge is first blow with a roll, then climb back up ladder. Shoot him twice or three times with your bow, then head plunge him when he gets close. Do this three times and he will die. If you want it faster, throw a fire bomb in for good measure.

It's honestly a simple mix of this strategy that will do it. As long as you're not getting frustrated you can roll around him really easily if you're observing movement for openings. His actual blows are very telegraphed.

Amazing. Amazon.com is selling the guide for 13 bucks. Amazon.ca has it out of stock, and bookdepository.uk never shipped my order and says the book never came out. Fantastic.

I e-mailed thebookdepository yesterday about my pre-order (because I wanted to know if the "currently unavailable" status would somehow affect it) and they told me the release date has changed to the 12th of October and that my pre-order would be fulfilled, so I imagine it will be the same in your case. Don't worry.

Ah ok. I found that one already but never realized that the area I'm in now connects to it. Guess I just have to kill that
hydra

For good measure

Says $24.99 for me. I'd actually consider getting it at half price considering how often I find myself asking questions on here.

Edit: Nevermind. As soon as I added it to my cart it showed the price cut in half.

That bonfire is actually a longer route to the area than the smith bonfire. If you're dying past the door area a lot, you're going to hate spawning at that particular bonfire. Its good if you can get past the bears and the thing in the water to climb the ladder and talk to the cat, but that would make the NPCs friendly which would defeat the purpose of killing the NPCs to grind.

Raw64life said:
There's a blacksmith in Darkroot Garden?
No, I'm talking about the one in parish. You just spawn at the bonfire, take the stairs down, run past the smith and you're in garden.

Proof that the boss is bullshit: I got him to one-hit short of killing him once. And since then I always only managed to get him at 3/4 of his health down, he always cheap-shots me like some old game where you can't get up without getting hit again.

Another stupid thing is how the enemies pivot on themselves as you run around them, without even doing any motion. It's cheap, it's just to prevent a fast character from going behind them quickly.

If there is an element of speed in the stats, they shouldn't fucking pivot like clocks.

edit: And now an enemy killed me through a wall! Great!

I can actually feel the rage coming off of this post.

No, it's not too hard. But the actual design of some of the areas is a bit unfair...like areas that are incredibly restrictive or run at such low framerates!

Thats true. Some how my fps took a huge nose dive while climbing a ladder in an early area. I have no idea why, but at least I wasnt being chased.

Also on my way back to a bonfire near the
Dragon on the bridge
the thing jumped down and got ready to do its patrol...then just exploded all of a sudden. 10000 souls for free? Maybe it stubbed its toe...

Haha nah man, that's just you getting worse. Sorry to say but you can almost always get up before the boss manages to hit you again. You NEED to start using those invincibility dodge-frames.

Thanks, I think I will contact them. I guess I could always just return it when I get it and buy it again at the new price...

Why get past the thing in the water when you can kill it and take its stuff? It's quite a bit faster from my experience because you have to cover the same full route from the blacksmith but you're skipping the part where you have to run from the blacksmith to the area you basically start at at the bonfire. Unless there's another route up there?

If they keep pivoting with you eventually they'll stop to attack, at which point you can just attack from the sides or go for a backstab. It's also better to circle to the right since enemies tend to attack right-handed.

Never ever let your guard down, even if the enemy has 1 health point left.

I just think Ether Snake is getting so frustrated that he's allowing his skills to decrease, concentration loss is just as big a killer in these games as the enemies themselves. It has happened to me in Demon Soul's on the Maneater bosses, so I'm sure it can happen to you.

Just relax, this is so early in the game that any soul loss is really just shit in the wind. You'll regain it back so quickly it's nearly irrelevant. The important thing is to focus on beating Taurus by practicing the strategies we're giving you until it becomes second nature.

I mentioned this before, but it ended up at the bottom of a page.

Gold Pine Resin (I think it's called). Imbues a weapon with lightning.

Holy shit, feels so good to get proficient with fighting system, using backstab and jumping stabs makes me feel like a motherfucking demon from hell.

However... Blightown.

I am ace at backstabbing/jump stab but I'm actually having a considerably tougher time parrying/riposte than I did in Demon Soul's. My timing is off real frequently. So I'm relying on my backstab way more

The worst framerate I've seen in this game is when the giant black cat things in the forest charge roll at you. Blighttown is great compared to that

Yeah but why take the chance to waste my items if I might get cornered by the boss between him and the tower? It's playing the lotto.

Do you backstab two-handed or one? Maybe that's my problem, I usually have my weapon two-handed at most times.

so i just got back to firelink shrine after finishing blighttown
and the one NPC killed the fire keeper. when can i invade him to kill him?

also, where should i go from here? should i go knock out darkroot garden/basin or head to sens fortress?

Totally agree, timing needs to be extremely precise. Theres some enemies where it's just not worth the risk. However it is extremely satisfying to pull off.

Sony > Bamco Nandai

Can't believe they didn't pony up for servers. Dark Souls is like a ghost town compared to Demon's Souls.

I loved those stupid ghosts. Don't hardly see them at all in Dark Souls.

as a thief, any weapon I use is going to be one handed. I can do the two handed thing but it's a pretty poor use of my class as far as I'm concerned. Backstabbing is frequent with my weapon

That item is strong enough that if you use it right as you start fighting him, and have full health and a couple of flasks, I can't see you losing.

Give it a shot!

You can invade his world right before the boss room in Anor Londo

I would head to Sen's Fortress if I were you, but darkroot garden/basin is about the same difficulty level

did demons souls have object blur like DkS?

So I just started this game and I'm at the Taurus Boss on the bridge. I've been told that a plungin attack is useful to do damage.

But how in God's name do I jump off the plateau while swinging a sword? I can't make it work. Left stick forward and R2 doesn't do a thing. I can't kick either. How is that supposed to work?

Honestly the game isnt too hard, you just have to think on your toes/go in prepared for anything. Also search for shortcuts/bonfires before you step into any light/mist.

wtf? I have died at least 20 times on that fight.

First 10-15 tries I died within the first 10 seconds. I would run in and immediately get stun locked by the dogs and then two-hitted by the boss. Eventually I just unequipped all my armor so I could run and roll past him, now about 2/3 times I can make it around him up the stairs. Trying the kill the dogs up there never works as my attacks only hit the wall (R1 or R2).

Once I was able to kill both dogs and then fight the boss, he was going down easy until he somehow got a hit in on me even though I had my shield up and full stam. It seemed like a fluke as I was locked on/blocking and no stam drained at all when I died.

do you have to be human to invade him?

R1 as you fall off

the tutorial at the start of the game explains all this :/

Lock on the boss, jump off, hit R1 while falling. You should land on his head and take off 50% of his HP.

just press R1 while falling lol

Stepped back from repeated failure at
the gargoyles. Looked at what I had, looked at what I could get, looked at what I could do. Got a hold of a catalyst and the heavy soul arrow spell, put gold resin on my battle axe, and became human so I could summon the sun knight. It fuckin easy after that.

And right as that ended, I went to
the forest, fought the moonlight butterfly(which was fucking awesome, the bridge, the monster design, the music, everything), and killed him on my first try!
.

Things are looking up! However I was killed by
the dong sword knight when he was literally one hit away from death. When I say literally, I mean if I hit him again, he would have been dead. He did some 180 with one of his overheads, looked and felt kind of bugged out.
Oh well, I'll be back for more.

Does anyone know why I occasionally get one extra Estus flask in the field? I ain't complainin', but I can't figure it out. Also, any tips on the new
crystal lizards?
Arrows don't seem to work anymore.

man people don't even read the shit they get in tutorials, I hardly think including it in the manual would have even made the situation better apparently lol

When someone kindles their bonfire, anyone who goes near it within a set period of time will get +heals to their estus flask. Same if they rate your messages
