Considering $15 of DLC is included, $40 is a good price.
Is that what they are saying the DLC will cost? I guess i will just get it on PC for sure then. Might as well as then I will (hopefully) get a better version than my ps3 one which was awesome none the less.
This is probably new news, right? http://forums.greenmangaming.com/topic/2389/
At least the GMG version will be a Steam key according to their contact. Still GFWL too, though.

Cool, hope it comes with the usual GMG vouchers since Bamco seems to give two shits about preorder discounts on Steam. This is probably new news, right? http://forums.greenmangaming.com/topic/2389/

And Australia. Dudes even get a mouse. In Europe.
$40 is a bit much, but the phrase "vote with your wallet" has never rang truer. Pre-ordered.
But $40 isn't even remotely a bit much. Dark Souls is one of the best games ever made, and this is the PC version that everyone begged and pleaded for, with new content on top of that. It was worth every penny of a $60 purchase less than a year ago, and $40 with extra content is an absolute steal. Glad you pre-ordered anyway.

Well it's a PC version but not the one everyone begged and pleaded for.
I don't remember "AND DON'T USE GAMES FOR WINDOWS OR ELSE WE DON'T WANT IT" in the petition, though maybe I'm misremembering.

Admittedly I think with everything coming out the main sticking point is just GFWL. I don't think it'd be fair to have expected treatment like Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Max Payne 3 got, and personally I mainly just wanted a PC port for higher framerates and resolution, especially with Blighttown, and while it's not a platformer it's still a game designed around a game pad that's probably going to be somewhat clumsy with keyboard and mouse. But GFWL, man, it's not really a big surprise given the online dependence the series has and how this apparently makes it easiest, but it's such a stupid piece of crap. I'm afraid of changing my password again lest I go through another nightmare of trying to make the dumb software realize who I am.Well it's a PC version but not the one everyone begged and pleaded for.
Well I mean that's just assumed. No one wants GFWL.
GFWL is like being told by the person you're about to go down on that they have something you can catch from them. It makes most back off.You aren't, and we don't even know if it will be a problem yet anyway.
While I admittedly can see corrupt saves and whatnot being purely case-by-case, my most recent problem (changing email/password and being unable to log in until I deleted my profile, then needing to do it again because it wasn't accepting the password again for some reason) seems like the kind of problem that's going to be in any GFWL game. I'm hoping/expecting Xbox Live in Windows 8 is smarter on that front at least, given how I sign in with my Windows ID anyway. You aren't, and we don't even know if it will be a problem yet anyway.
Achievement whores tend to.Well I mean that's just assumed. No one wants GFWL.
I think most of us just kinda assumed most developers were backing off. They have not only made it unappealing to consumers but to developers as well thanks to patching fees and certification turn around.Maybe you guys should have been emphatic if it was so important to you.

Can retail copies be activated on Steam?
90% sure not. It's not a Steamworks game, though GMG getting Steam copies makes me wonder. If you want Steam, stick to those two for now.Can retail copies be activated on Steam?
They're already risking it by making the game run with GFWL. Maybe GFWL will work ok, but clearly they like to play with fire. The Dark Souls/Demon's Souls community will not stand for gamebreaking GFWL bullshit. If it fucks up the game in any way, there will be hell to pay. Riots will break out in the streets.
FROM/Namco Bandai will not risk ruining the reputation of their most successful new IP in...... ever.

It was unreasonable for us to assume that it'd be GFWL, its a terrible system that everyone hates and it seems to be on its way out. If we had thought it was a possibility, trust me, we would have made it loud and clear.
Why do you think it was such a remote possibility?
Japanese developer with very little PC experience. GFWL is reportedly the easist way to port online code from an existing 360 game.
My fault, I misread your post. I'm tired!See, that just makes it sound even more likely that it would be GFWL, not less.
Head's up!
Green man gaming has the game on stock, Steam key included. You can use their 20% off voucher and also credit from other games that you may have from them (Hacker Evolution, Disciples). I just got mine for 27 bucks. Great deal.

You will have to use GFWL no matter where you purchase it. A game can be on Steam and require GFWL, why are you confused ?
I'm in, I would have paid $60 for this again, regardless of a "superior port", I'm perfectly fine with playing it with pure console settings and flaws. GFWL sort of bothers me, but I've rarely ever had problems with the few games I've used it for, but I do wish it simply used Steamworks.
So, on another note, I remember reading that a "headset" is required? Maybe it was a misprint, I only ask because I'm lending my Astro headset at the moment until my cousin gets back from being out to sea in Nov, in the Navy. So will a regular 360 headset plugged into a wired 360 controller work fine?
It doesn't require a headset, that was just a mistake in the system requirements.
