David O. Russel writing/directing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Wonder if the screenplay will have him slaughtering like, 800 dudes. That's really the only way to truly capture the essence of the game.

Isn't Russel like some kind of douchebag egomaniac? Are we sure he won't suck the fun out of it? Only film of his I saw was Three Kings, which I did like.

Bruce Campbell as Sully
YES YES YES.

If this somehow does happen, I really hope it's more "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and less "National Treasure." Somebody mentioned NT to me and the thought of an Uncharted movie being anywhere near that crappy is depressing.

So this is another thread where people link actors to videogame characters relying solely on the appareance, and forgetting that they actually have to ACT ?

I've always thought Colin Farrel would make a fine Drake:

Accent is the only problem.

My #2 mancrush behind Ryan Gosling (who obviously has better things to do than a video game movie).

I think Nolan North is also too old.

I actually think Bradley Cooper wouldn't be a terrible choice, right age, right looks (they can dye his hair if it's really that big of a deal) and he's shown a few times that he can pull off the cocky & charming protagonist.

Just make him Irish lol. Colin Farrell in "In Bruges" >>>>> Nolan North in anything in his entire life.

I'll say that North's Drake is really entertaining though, too bad he's about the same in everything else so it kind of cheapens the character.

He's only turning 40 soon! Matthew McConaughey is older than he is! >:(

Besides, I would rather a person who can look in his 30's with worldly experience.

As an aside, apparently North's birthday is on Oct. 31. We should let him know that we love him and the fact that he provides 30% of all voice actors in video games :D

not that I'm endorsing nathan fillion but wtf dude this guy looks older than him... IS older than him, according to imdb.
Really? According to Wikki North was born in 70 and Fillon was in 71 (they're about 6 months apart)

He was referring to the actor I posted, who was birthed in '67, so he's technically older than Fillion even though he doesn't look it to me.

Uncharted is essentially Indiana Jones + The Mummy + Six Days Seven Nights. Do we really need a movie for it?

if you watch one movie every 4-5 years. then maybe we dont...

So, is this supposed to be based on the stories from the game or are they just using the name recognition to start up a movie franchise? That seems like what most of these video games movies are about. Whatever the case, most of these actor suggestions won't work out. I like Nathan Fillion but if they make this movie, it is to make money. If Chris Evans wasn't Captain America, I'd say he would be a good choice. Someone earlier mentioned Bradley Cooper and I think that could work out too.

Really interesting choice. Potential for awesome results.
Never thought I'd see the day where I'd be excited for a video game movie.

Yes. Yes I do.
I'm a child of the 80's and for the longest time, I was praying that something could bring back my nostalgia. The nostalgia of the music, the characters, the action! It sits with me today. If you asked me to hum 'Back to the Future', 'Star Wars', 'Superman' I could do it in a heart beat.

Now?

If you asked me to hum something that I can remember from a theme, you know what they will be?

Halo, Uncharted, BioShock and Civ 4 (yea no, not civ4... I couldn't hum that with any sort of decency).

I want the first 3 made into movies and I want them to be treated with respect.

Yeah, this guy is a notorious prick. I'm pretty sure George Clooney had to punch him in the face on the set of 3 Kings because he was being a complete asshole to everyone. :lol

David Bowie should be Nathan.

The big is question is who play the main character, victor goddamn sullivan.

Still think they should make the third game about him, alternating between young in the 70's and old present day.

Why are we suggesting anything but Nolan North? Use the damn cast from the games, they are close look alikes.

After watching Serenity, I don't see how it can be anyone other than Nathan Fillion.

The entire time I watched that movie all I thought about was how that was Nathan Drake.

What's the point of casting a fucking C-list actor like Fillion instead of Nolan North?

How dare you speak of Nathan Fillion that way.

Fillion would absolutely be my first choice. I don't think he's quite as fit as he used to be, but damn it he has the personality and charisma to pull it off.

Loved him as Captain Reynolds, love him now as Castle.

Isn't he responsible for Three Kings? Cuz that was a great movie, and in a way its a good sign since it's sort of an action adventure/plunder movie with a lot of fun banter.

No complaints there, I just hope they don't cast Mathew McConahey.

Also, I don't really see how an Uncharted movie is necessary since the game, in many ways, is meant to emulate the experience of watching an adventure movie.
And this is why it seems entirely pointless, in my opinion, and why it literally can't be anything but worse than the original game.

The Uncharted series' greatest strength is its ability to blend a cinematic movie experience with actual gameplay. Making a pure movie out of it makes no sense.
