Days Gone E3 2017 Gameplay

looks like heaps of fun.

Not a fan of the current crop of zombie games.

The horde looks brilliant.

So much negativity on GAF lol

I was really glad to see them showing off so much more of the gameplay this time around. It looks beautiful and based on what was shown tonight this will be right up my alley. I can't wait to see more down the road.

it was more fun to watch than the Spiderman demo (which looked fun tho at least) and that awful Quantic Dreams game.

I wasn't particularly hyped for it until they showed him use the horde as a weapon/distraction for the enemy. That was cool. Could make for fun stealth moments if you can do things like that. Also music was nice.

To me, it looked like a zombie version of Horizon. The trap gimmick, the stampedes (you can do both in Horizon as well), the hiding on grass....

Looked great, but there's still not enough to differentiate from The Last of Us. Almost identical gameplay, similar artstyle, post-apocalyptic world, etc.

Much better demo than E3 2016.
Here there was a sense of a full open world where zombies can also be exploited to our advantage and it was pretty cool.

This is the type of game that'll live and die on its story and characters (for me) and there wasn't anything in the footage that gave me a lot of hope in that area. While the lead character is awfully hot (a plus), he had zero personality.

I might have been too harsh on this game last year. The demo definitely piqued my interest. The game looked great--both graphically and gameplay-wise. I foresee a lot of deaths to the zombie hordes.

I think Im interested in all or most 1st party titles but not this one.

I think its the whole package? Like why would I care about that dude you go out and rescue? He looks like a fricking dumbass. Yea yea to early to judge but something about the characters and me not giving a shit feeling, especially the MC.

May get jumped in on this but have slight feeling of The Order 2 with this one. Best of luck to the devs. Bent should have made a Syphon Filter (PSP) sequel now that Uncharted/Nate is out of the picture. It would be the perfect 3rd person action game to showcase.

Yeah they said last year you can use hordes to attack bases and such.

I still don't understand the point of this game and what it its place in Sony's library. Looks too generic by its art style and undefined by its game design.

Not sure why people think that was scripted except the fact the player chose to do the mission that way to show off the horde. I'm sure he could have just stealth that section or try brute force. However we don't know how much ammo he has in the game. it's a demo of course he is showing some of the mechanics and options you have to do the mission.

If that is the case, they have to do what Quantic Dreams does and showcase the options.

Option
A) Kill all
B) Steath
C) Get the hoard that is 1 mile north to the camp by making noises, triggering event/ lighting a huge fire etc etc

Instead they are just going about it one way and it looks scripted even though it may not be. They really are doing a poor display of the gameplay if its so varied.

Was there any release info attached to it?

It's supposed to be open-world and not scripted, but it's hard to imagine that mission playing out if the guy hadn't unleashed the horde

He could have slowly stealthed all those men, set up traps around the perimeter and lured the enemies to them or gone in all guns blazing. Off the top of my head.

Yeah... not liking that. I usually love watching Events with Gaf, but this year it seems like the vibes are just not that good. Just not fun being around when everything sucks apparently
Yes... I dont get the hate. Reading the conferencethread while watching the conference was really confusing. Everything was shit and tlou and whatever. Dont know if the people here try to like things at least.

@topic

The one thing that bothers me is the distance between camps and enemys. To close, imo.

They show gameplay last E3 attacking the same area in different ways :/

I really dont get it this was the same with Horizon Zero Dawn.

I legit don't even get the criticism of shit today. Like none of it even makes sense. Not gameplay? They showed like ten straight minutes of gameplay.

Not sure why people are down on it, looked great to me.

No date though, or even year?

I think people are just burned out of zombies. It's been about ten years of it and it's tired. Game itself could be great, needs some unscripted sequences (not fair during a trailer, they want density and to show off mechanics).

The Gameplay trailer showed the exact things i really needed to be hooked to this game. like how the Horde interaction comes into play with other game setting. If the world of this game and stories of the characters are good ,than it will make it a one hell of a game.

Anyone else feel this game might be better without stealth mechanics?

Last year's demo was so intense. It feels like you could easily work the zombies with stealth overuse now

Also feel like the stealth action thing with zombie v human manipulation could be left to TLOU. Was hoping for more of a Dead Rising with a serious angle

Though I see at least a little effort to have a modestly different scenario, I really want to know who thought another damn zombie game was a good idea and inexplicably approved this in the first place. Plus, it undercuts their pre-existing TPS story-based zombie IP, TLOU. Days Gone will be compared 1:1 with it, and it will fall short.

This was game of the show for me. I can imagine spending hours corralling hordes of zombies and messing around in the open world. What I love most was that the main character only shot a gun like one time. I'm all for a creative open world zombie game with some unique game play. I wonder if there will be RPG elements or base building, that would be fun.
