Days Gone E3 2017 Gameplay

They can show this game five more times but it still will be uninspired crap. I have zero interest in this game...

This looks anything but uninspired.

Granted it has a very "me too" feel to it, but they types of encounters they're proposing are pretty unique.

The game looked a lot more interesting than when debuted. Not sold on it myself but curious.

After being left unimpressed by the game's original showing, I was left pleasantly surprised and totally convinced by its lastest demo.

Introducing a 'zombie' game with a bit of run and gun action was a huge mistake when you've got an open-world, packed with what seems to be lots of interesting systems.

Sony turned me around on this game. Shame it's not coming this year.

This showed well but could have done without the first few minutes where they showcases the most pedestrian bush-hiding and stone-hearted stuff.

This part just looked ridiculous. Like damn.

Here is the video of some of the alternate path

this alternate footage just got me wayyyyyyy more interested in the game

It warms my heart how many people want a new Syphon Filter. I wish Bend was a 300 people studio like Naughty Dog so they could work on two games simultaneously as well.

This game potentially could make or break Bend, if it is a hit they may be able to expand their studio and work on other projects as well. Much like Gureilla they have a lot riding on this project

I notice nearly all of the posts talking about this game being shit are very vague and non-specific as to what is actually wrong with it.

Looks great.

So a checklist would be
1) Open World
2) Vehicles & Weapons
3) Alternate Paths
4) Crafting
5) Shitload of Zombies
6) Perks assumed

What else is missing ...any info on the story? Monster variation. etc.

for me personally I dont think its shit but when I look at the footage even though I am interested in the game it looks and feels janky somewhat. The animations dont look that polished esp the running one, the fighting mechanics look like they could use a touch up. Overall some people maybe look at this as a poor man last of us which I get but you cant compare naughty dogs top notch animation and design to this. However while I prob will purchase the game the word I come up with is janky and it just doesnt look or feel right 100%, here's hoping some more time brewing will help it alon gjust a little more

Dynamic enemies with random events. Might decide to ambush you anywhere.

Not quite sure it would qualify as emergent, but hoping.

The thing is this game is on a completely different scale then Last of US or Uncharted.

and i get that however other people may not. As stated above after seeing the alternate footage now I wouldnt say I am in love with the game but I sure as hell am more interested in it. The melee combat looks a lil weak and I hope they fix it a little bit, however the finishing animations look good. I just think generally the game could use a tweak here and there then they be standing like roman reigns going "this is my yard now" mic drop.

Yep I agree, the game is still long way off got plenty of time.

I love zombie games (well I'm making one so I guess I am a bit biased :) - but I like the idea that both this game and spiderman seem to be following in terms of open world with special linear/strong story based parts. So taking the great linear aspects of something like uncharted and adding it to sections of an open world game.

Open world games have been getting a bit stale in terms of chasing the icons around the screen and boring collectables. So i'm hoping they have the open side of exploration and the variance of a linear game can make them a bit fresher, and give an element of mixing it up.

Played a lot of Just Cause 3 and Mad Max recently and I can tell you those games get very repetitive and end up not being particularly fun. So its about time the formula was changed.

Dynamic weather is in I think? They showed the demo yesterday with snow, and apparently it affects the behavior of the freakers (in the dev interview, they said freakers are stronger during this, and their vision and hearing are impaired during rain or other weather events).

All in all, I think this demo was very interesting, and showed a lot more depth than what I was expecting in the game.

There's a lot of cool systems in place, I'll be really interested at seeing it all come together and whether it works as a whole.

Mutant bears and wolves... Wolves run faster than you on the bike.

Dynamic weather.. Dynamic environment.. Dynamic 'events'... It supposedly all feeds off of each other

Not too excited for this either. The game does not look bad but not super either. It just does not look like anything new.

An example of a new title in Sony is the Detroit game. That game totally has my attention and will probably buy day one. Not this.

Right its not like their a alot of ways a human can do stealth.

Thought you were being sarcastic, but then realised you are the OP!

Everything in that conference trailer was overused. Throwing rocks to make noise to distract people, scripted cinematic gameplay bits, a QTE to get away, all the stealth stuff.

I don't think it had anything at all to set it apart at all, did it? The devs have just wholesale copied all the stuff from games they've ever liked. It may be that the game is still very good as a result because there's nothing wrong with those mechanics per se, but it's definitely not going to stand out or be original in any way.

Okay, but I was talking specifically about the stealth aspect and how it's sort of a necessary evil. I can see how when piled together with other typical open world traits it can all seem a bit bland. Hopefully they are working on the human AI to at least make it believable when you succeed/mess up.

I would rather play as a female robot or a pirate or a space marine because none of those groups have ever woke me up at 3AM or destroyed my neighborhood with heroine and meth.

Haha!

I would be more interested in this game if it had a complex base/town building structure that has to defend against human and zombie horde attacks. That would be a really interesting development like The Walking Dead where you have to manage people and survive.

In Days Gone, ambushes are almost never scripted events but are part of a dynamic open-world system

huh if that's true then this game is bigger than i thought
i wonder what's that % thing that increased when he kills people
am watching the alternate path video without sound :<

Originality is overrated. You don't have to be original to be a blast to play.

But I also disagree with the assessment that any game needs an original hook to stand out.

I think it looks great, especially if you look at some of the other videos that show alternate routes to get through an area. I am definitely in on this one Day 1. I have really like everything I have seen and read about the game. It still feels like there is a lot that they haven't shown. I know there is supposed to be an entire wildlife ecosystem, the weather system is supposed to play a big part in traversal and controls of the motorcycle, and the full MacGuyver crafting system for weapons and tools. . We haven't seen those yet!

Is this coming to PC? I have a PS4 but frame rate + price would be much better on PC.

Just watched the 'alternate path' video (thanks Loudninja) and....yeah, this is shaping up to be the open world 'Last of Us / Walking Dead' game I hope for.
I urge all of you to watch.
Definitely one of my most anticipated titles on any platform. This game is going to rock my world!
