Days Gone [OT] Days Gone B Gud

What about it is so good?

It's not just one thing, it's all the systems they have in place.
Mad Max + The Last of Us + Uncharted + Horizon + RDR + Horde/Animals = Days Gone

It has a few things that could be improved with a sequel, plus there are some small tech issues, but all in all......nothing like riding your bike over a hill at night in the middle of a rain storm with lightning/thunder and all of sudden you're in the middle of 30 zombies.....nothing like that in gaming, Imo.

Yeah, you nailed what I was trying to say. Basically take those games, add a "-lite" to them but then add them all together.

Curious to see how Survival Mode plays.

The further this game goes, the story gets more useless as Deacon gets so powerful and can 1 v 10 opponents easily on his own,. All those story moments/planning sequence are basically pointless.

If this game somehow gets a sequel, I hope epic money hats a pc version. It will benefit greatly with a action/rts mode with player making important choices to progress the story, would’ve made it something special and fun to play rather than just an ok game but nothing too memorable.

this game looks so good i'm really enjoying it a lot (captured from my pro) when i was done taking this picture i died here by wolfs lol

1. Deacon doesn’t get that powerful. Getting surrounded at any level would easily kill him.

2. Sony own the IP and the studio who makes the game. The best you can hope for is playing it via PSNow on PC.

Yep the game looks good, yet we had people saying it likes meh when they were watching non-HD youtube videos, lol.

I have yet to really see a youtube video really capture how good this game can look. Digital Foundry wasn't wrong I can say that, very nice looking open world game. Man, when those rain storms come in and the foliage is wiping around with the lightning/thunder and you're going down a hill in mud on your bike - you would think this was all scripted. I would say RDR2 has a slightly more realistic type look (more systems) but Days Gone has a sharper image quality. I do say RDR2-lite sometimes, but to be honest, sometimes this game looks better but its hard to compete with RDR2 's complete package - high production. Awesome job pulling this off with a smallish studio, imo.

Stuff like this are awesome in the game.

Just booted up and saw it’s patched to 1.05 today

Looks like “Bug Fixes” only listed note

Edit

A new Days Gone update 1.05 will soon roll out for PlayStation 4 players. The upcoming Days Gone version 1.05 update will resolve issues related to crashing, framerate drop, stuttering/lag, glitches, and more. Apart from this, Days Gone patch 1.05 will also include stability and performance improvements.

Fantastic, hopefully this fix the audio bugs
I was just saying in the Asscreed OT how jarring it is that this got ripped on because of bugs yet ACO with repetitive mission every 10 steps and has a freezing problem that pop up every 10-20 minutes and receives 9.5/10 with no mention of it.

Played it for a good 8+ hrs yesterday, maybe more. Considering I'm kind of ADHD when it comes to games I'm surprised I lasted that long as it seems that only a few games can really provide that gameplay fun factor to hook me. Just about everything I've been enjoying with only a few slight complaints and they are more niggles than anything and imho, more forgivable considering Bend Studio's size and only recently jumping back into the console scene. Like many others it reminds me of other games but presented in its own way and takes on systems etc. Its a rare game that can have me nope.gif the hell out of a place if things turn sour, or panic if I see even a small mob wandering around. Also the Newts disturb me, and I really like their attempt to have a sort of freaker ecosystem.

Overall it very much reminds me of my time with Horizon, in a sort of similar world map and discovering the worlds' lore. I'm having a blast with it and can't wait to put some more time in today. Not sure if I'm going to aim for the Plat like I usually do with Sony titles but I just might. Also its just beautiful, I've found myself using the photo mode from time to time.

watching it on Twitch and really enjoining the story stuff later in the game. It is strange that this game takes a bit longer to get actually good story wise.

Also I do not think it was a good idea to make the amount of items you can carry so low. It does not encourage exploration at all since you mostly seem to be full all the time. I can clearly see that this is not a 90% game but a 5 or 6 come on. Also the stuff about deacon in the gamespot and especially waypoint review is absolute bullshit. He warms up to people and gets attached to them as well. and you soon see why he is the way is at the beginning of the game

Storywise it gets decent at the second camp with Lisa and it gets good with the 3rd camp

If not for the Sony Boycott I would have definitely bought it.

People keep banging on about zombie fatigue. Last time I think I played a zombie game was TLOU on PS3. What gives? Have I missed all the zombie games or are people just repeating shit like lemmings?

Pretty sure there will be zero talk of zombie fatigue when TLOU2 hits...

I know, right? I guess it has remained pretty prominent in pop culture in general, but the complaints about it are rather fatiguing themselves. I don't care if a game has zombies in it or not. I just care if it tells a solid story and features compelling gameplay.

The freakers are a fantastic addition to the game which make things a lot more unpredictable and less samey as opposed to just having people and animals attacking you.

The 5.1 surround on my good headset is some of the best I’ve experienced on PS4 to date

I have it set to "3D audio" in the game settings, but Im wondering if the 5.1 or 7.1 setting might be better?

Also, I ran into that horde that resting inside that cave last night. Tossed in a couple attractors and they poured out of there like a bunch of spazzy ants. I was fucked in seconds.. Tossed a few pipe bombs and they seemingly did jack shit lol

I honestly have no idea how to handle hordes. I guess I simply cant at this point and this early on. I feel like I need a fuckin gatling gun and a flamethrower to even stand a chance lol

Shit I honestly don’t know what the difference is

Is “3D audio” better/newer than the 5.1/7.1 surround?

Is there a good way to farm money? I'm not that far into the game, damn those hordes are hard to take out. Kept blowing myself up at the tanker trying to blow the horde up.

I mean you could always just wander around for an hour picking plants and killing Freakers and collecting their ears...

Dunno if there’s any legit way to farm though. Killing a horde will obv set you up with a shitload of ears to cash in but they’re just so tough to take on early on.

Do you get some sort of achievement for completely wiping out a horde? First one I came across I just killed enough to get to the NEST upgrade and scrammed.

Shit was pretty hard though, since I winged it on the fly. Wasted my attractor and didn't kill much with the tanker explosion.

There’s a silver trophy for wiping out your first one

Three hordes you fight are story related. The other 40 or so are spread out around the map.

Just got to the part where

you rescue a girl then have to escort her across town before fighting a bear. Holy fuck that was intense.

The longer I play; the more I'm loving it. It's such an injustice that the reviews are mostly negative. The game is every bit as impressive as RDR2, and we all know that's saying a lot. Also, the more I play, I realize that reviewers have been downright disingenuous with their criticism. Now that is true "review bombing" if you ask me. These people should be called out for this bullshit.

Those of you saying that it's like a combination of RDR2, Horizon, TLoU and Mad Max are spot on. Except the combat gameplay is far superior to all of them. It's fun and satisfying. The sound design is immaculate, especially with a decent sound system.
