DayZ - zombie apocalypse online FFA permadeath survival Arma II mod

God damn it, whoever is running the community updates needs to implement st_movement.

ShackTac's movement mod makes it so that weapons don't collide with buildings as much, so that movement inside of buildings is possible. I just got killed trying to turn around on a stairwell, but my giant fucking gorilla arms and my massive revolver couldn't clear the wall, so I got taken down by a guy with a double barrel that I couldn't see.
 
I'm liking that magazines are considered an attachment and that you have to take care of them. The problem with DayZ now (even Wasteland for that matter) is that once you get a gun, the only real downfall you can suffer is a lack of ammo or someone getting the jump on you.

I wonder if we'll have to physically load the bullets in to the magazines. It'd be interesting to have to find boxes of loose bullets on store shelves. You would need to find the loose magazines and the loose bullets to put in the magazines. This could potentially be a way to balance bolt-action sniper rifles, shotguns and the revolver - while they aren't semiautomatic, the ammunition takes up less room in your pack because you don't need magazines to use them.

Sounds like you will have to load ammo into the magazine. I don't think it would be a terribly great mechanic to have to load each bullet though.

Hold bullet icon over magazine. Press mouse 100 times for 100 bullets. Haven't you played minecraft before? It's like having blocks.
 
After playing Wasteland, I kind of want a no-zombies standalone of that too.

Hopefully when Rocket adds mod support thatll be the first one.

Edit: So Standalone wont have custom faces because of dicks, like male genitalia and no more 3rd/1st person button switching on the fly, because, well, fuck you.

No 3rd person would be pretty great actually, it gets rid of using third person to see around corners without any risk, which is really dumb in pvp situations.
 
Origins looks real interesting. Based off Taviana, with a persistent leveling system. And NPCs guarding sweet equipment.

Technically you shouldn't have any issues after password protecting your server. That's assuming someone you know doesn't give up the password to someone who feels like griefing. Also, Private Hive can't be banned. It's not connected to the central server.

The zombie/vehicle behavior is pretty big. We've felt super safe in vehicles.
