Dead or Alive 5 or Tekken Tag 2? ;_;

Tekken Tag 2 looks like something really special. The only reason I might not get it day one is because I'm hoping for a Vita version, but I've played it at GamesCom and it was pretty awesome. And it looked phenomenal.

I don't know, I never liked DoA, not the fighting style, not the graphics.

EDIT: and now that I'm comparing some recent footage of both, I remember that one thing I find even worse about DoA is the animations. There is a constant speed to everything, even if someone is thrown upwards there is no acceleration or deceleration, just a constant speed through the whole movement arc. It's kinda horrible.

Tekken tag 2:

50+ characters
150+ swimsuits (free)
Fully customizable stage music
Silly fun tutorial mode (Combot)
Customizable characters
Premium ranking/clan/leaderboard service

DoA 5:
High res sweaty boobs

The choice is clear.
Give me both

Generally speaking in the past Dead or Alive games have been about throwing opponents into environmental hazards to see what happens. After you've seen it all there's nothing in terms of gameplay that keeps me engaged in the long run.

This sounds a lot like my experience with DOA4. By the time I unlocked all the endings there was nothing left for me. The majority of the characters were just boring to play. And there was never that one character that I really wanted to master.

This one looks better though, I dunno.

Online is a non-factor for me. Cannot stand even the most minimal lag in games like these.

Wait a couple months and you can get both for the price it would've cost to get either at launch.

This is totally true. But for me fighting games are one of the genres that you can make a legitimate case for buying day one. For any community based game it can be really fun to jump in right at the start when the most number of new players are playing and before it ends up as all grizzled veterans a year or two down the line.

However I just can't justify it with how much fun I'm currently having with VF5FS, so I'm really interested in TTT2, but I'll be waiting until at least the holidays for hopefully a <$40 deal of some type. DOA5 I can't say that I'm interested in at all, looks like a very credible effort, but its never really been my style of game.

I'm getting both because I hate my money.

But in your case...if you are getting a WiiU. Then perhaps you can get TTT2 for that(when it comes out) and get DOA5 now.

If you're into more technical fighters and want to practice and get super good I would say Tekken.

If you're looking for something to just casually play after you get home from work/class or whatever, I would say DOA.

Tekken is a lot deeper and has more substance to it, but DOA is a lot easier to just pick up and play. Plus the online community will probably be less competitive.

I would decide based on which game play style you like. I think DOA5 will definitely be easier to pick up and play than Tekken will, but I also think that TTT2 is going to last a whole hell of a lot longer than DOA5. I'm getting both though...the only thing I haven't decided on is whether or not I'm double-dipping on DOA5 (definitely getting TTT2 on both PS3 and 360).

Aquapazza!

Buying it so you can bury it next to AH3?

Yup- Not bothering with Aquapazza due to TTT2 and DOA2 in September. I guess if enough people import it and/or say it has good net code and a decent amount of people online, I might bite, but it doesn't seem like it would be the most popular of fighting games.

This should have been a poll.

But I'm going Dead or Alive 5 first then getting Tekken Tag Tournament 2 when its cheaper.

Reason: I enjoy the faster combat and interactive environments (Also the stage having attributes adds more to it that just fighting in stages where they dont change anything. Also if the story is similar to DOA:D it has potential of being very entertaining too and the online features sound nice.

TTT2 will be the better game no doubt. Only go with DoA if you want a shallow fighting game with lots of tits.

Nice ignorant post.

I'm getting DoA5 over TTT2 I'll prob get TTT2 a month after or something.

Mind games in DoA > Footsie Priority Based battles of Tekken

Mind games in DoA > Footsie Priority Based battles of Tekken

This is the biggest reason why I like VF and DOA over Tekken. Tekken is 90% rote memorization. Until you have your i10 punisher, i12 punisher, i15 punisher, low parry juggle, CH juggle, launcher juggle, and every character's natural string memorized, the game is just random. And once you do have it memorized, the game just devolves into twitching around just outside your safest range and throwing out safe mids.

In fact.. Yeah, I think I just convinced myself not to get Tekken. I've gotta finish up Darksiders 2 anyway, that'll hold me over until DOA5.

Picking up both, though I'm a lot more excited about DoA5 since I've never touched the franchise. Tekken is always cool, but extremely familiar ground.

Dat Evo Bob finals :lol

Both, though initially, go for TTT2.

I have a feeling you'll be able to snag DOA5 on the cheap soon enough.
TTT2 will have some staying power.

If its anything like Tekken 6 I'll see Tekken Tag Tournament 2 going for cheap pretty quick.

lol...DOA4 has been full price since 2005 I know this because I've been waiting for a price drop and it NEVER came!

Tekken 5/6 were $19.99 for those willing to wait a short while. Hopefully this time will be different but I wouldn't hold my breath.

More intrigued by DOA since it's been a long time since I've touched that franchise. Tekken will probably be the more enjoyable game though.

I'll probably end up snagging both.

I found DOA4 on Kmart for 20 bucks last year. Tekken 6 was 20 bucks like 1 month after release.

Could not agree more. I'd also say it's easier to separate the skilled players from the non skilled players in DOA than Tekken because of this.

I'll definitely get both. Probably take Tekken Tag more seriously. DOA is fun, but I'm not very interested in the competitive scene for it.
