Dead or Alive 5 or Tekken Tag 2? ;_;

I'm surprised there isn't any online for the cheap cheap.

Damn, I might spend 40 on a new copy. My hype for DoA5 is immense.

You shouldnt really spend 40 on a copy. DOA4 is the bad omen in the series kinda like Tekken 4.

If you have a 3DS you are even better getting that one(Dead or Alive: Dimensions) that DOA4 and look at the positive portable experience. (you can get it 30 new or 20 used)

I got Dimensions. Fun (especially with the 3D effects) but I wish I got to play it on consoles. I haven't played a DOA on console since DoA2 because of them staying on Xbox and I'm current using someone else's 360.

And I liked Tekken 4. I didn't know it was looked down upon so badly.

Well...is DOAX2 worth a purchase?

haha just be patient :P

The bickering in this thread reminds me of the SF vs MK debate. It's obvious which game is better but people still seem to argue.

yes its obvious that mortal kombat is better but we should still settle it with a crossover game

DOA's community is garbage. Google Tom Brady and DOA and see why I have nothing but contempt for the "high level" players. Your veteran players are supposed to be your foundation for the community.
Tom Brady is an excellent community member

*in mortal kombat

Tom Brady was amazing for DOA3, he pushed the shit out of that game, and deserves all the respect in the world for being one of the founders for the DOA tournmanet scene, hope he comes back to DOA5.

I wonder how history would have changed if T4 hadn't had Jin jfls or Lee bullshit.
-8WR might have eventually happened.
-Anna probably would have come back before Tag 2, but that probably would have been it.
-I think stage interaction could have ended up rivaling DOA's.
-I still think they would have removed wallpush.
-Some other form of guaranteed damage might have been created besides extending juggles.
-The story would have continued to have been a big focus.

The obvious choice is both. However my concerns for DOA5 right now from what I've seen so far is that it looks and plays like DOA4. However it is still way to early to judge since most players are still in that DOA4 mentality of playing. TTT2 day one for sure though I'll wait a couple of weeks after DOA5 is released to get impressions.

Steve, Nina, Kuma were pretty bullshit as well. And then there was the constant glitches happening all over multiple levels including the parking lot and jungle.

But the whole juggle system wasn't very fun. It was trying to hard to play like Virtua Fighter and in the end lost its identity.

This thread is so strange how lopsided it is. TTT2 is pretty much the ultimate fan service game with the entire kitchen sink being thrown into it. Hmm...

Not really. Just pick what you think you'll enjoy most of. One or the other. Or both. It's not rocket science.

Yeah here's the thing, so is DOA5. Gorgeous engine, models, animations, rehauled gameplay engine, modes up the ass load, etc. . . it's all there too.

I think they've done a lot to differentiate from doa4, but my fear is that the doa4 style of play will still be effective. Watching the gvn tourney and seeing lopedo win with that style made me :/

I was speaking mostly from the character / stages standpoint. I found it shocking that a game series that has been stagnant for 6 years is All of a sudden being heavily favored over a game that has triple the characters and likely double the stages. It's not a knock on the game just an observation of people's opinions in here. I honestly thought the exact opposite was going to happen when I clicked this thread.

I would say Tekken has been growing stagnant.

Number of characters doesn't mean much. P4A is amazing and has like... 14 characters.

I always find it funny when people say any 3D fighter is slow. They're all really fast when the players on the sticks know what they're doing.

Sure when you watch elite Tekken pros go at it it might look cool but when you play online or against friends its mostly slow and irritating. DOA is fluid and complex ...it just works the way its supposed to for a 3d fighter .

I do agree that for the average person DOA is much faster and with the addition of the sidestep to it's already usable FSD, it feels like a true 3D fighter (where before SC was the sole owner of that title).

I would like to give you a high five but I will take it higher and use a mental high five. Dat is more classy.

Wow, this thread has become slightly more popular than I expected.

Been watching videos of both all afternoon. I think I'm getting that fighting game itch for the first time since the PS2 days. Couldn't have come at a better time.

Just wondering, why is DOA 4 considered so bad? I remember DOA Ultimate holding my interest far longer, but it doesn't seem all that different in the way Tekken 4 was.

If you only read GAF, you'd think that Vanquish was a hit and no one bought MW3 because everyone hates CoD.

Wasn't it because they made the countering bullshit?

Always loved 3d fighters when I was younger. But SF4 was the first game I actually played seriously. Play SSF4:AE or SFxT almost every day since then.

Wonder how long it'll take to get any good at Tekken :(

Unbalanced hell focused much Stun games and randomly guessing holds and Useless Side Stepping among other things

I still loved the game though. Not everybody cares about competitive play, some of us just like to have fun.

Definitely. The fights in DOA4 were fast, impressive and fun, that's all that matters to me. Besides, the online lobbies were great, I hope they kept the system even if nobody else tried to copy it.

Tekken girls have shoulders like linebackers, DOA otoh has this.

No contest.

Real talk though I'll probably buy both, the gap in release as well as no Persona being released in PAL assures that. Still lmao @ Snoop Dogg... and hopefully Tekken doesn't lose half it's price within 2 weeks like T6 did last time, still annoyed @ that.

I remember playing with Tom Brady in DOAU. He had the biggest ego of anyone I've ever played a video game with, and I used to play DOA with Master and JustOwning
