Dead or Alive 5 or Tekken Tag 2? ;_;

I dunno if you read the previous posts... but this started as a VF/Tekken mechanics debate. Things started turning to shit when the usual idiot comes in saying how Tekken looks like crap, i.e. post #501. If you want to specifically talk communities there is no "war" like you're making out. Lots of top Tekken players (like NYCFab) originated from DOA and vice versa (Tom Brady).

It's just annoying when people like this Zodd character come around spew bullshit against Tekken without anything to backup his declarations. He can say it to himself all he wants, but if you wanna go public with it, it will be policed.

It's a square arena from a hitbox perspective, hence the invisible walls. An artistic sacrifice to ensure the gameplay is unphased. The stage is designed with backgrounds that appear dynamic in that way, but to maintain the integrity of the system, they decided to place an invisible wall there.

EDIT: But alas it's another example where Tekken get's scrutinized and hated for when other games like VF suffer from this invisible wall syndrome too that appear "jarring".

Things started when people were calling Dead or Alive TnA (which it really isnt unless you go with alternate costumes or the Xtreme games) and calling the game shallow and forget the mechanics. Both games audiences can be clearly childish in who can pee farther competitions way and if people don't know how to calm themselves we end up with stuff like this. People overreacting over what might be someone who knows or doesnt know anything. You can politely explain things without getting offended over the trivialities about it or simply ignore the ignorant post. (If it is ignorant) People here on the internet forgot what respect and manners were and we are all now just being uncivilized simply because someone said something which might have or might have not been a troll or simply his opinion.

This 2 communities can be the most childish ones when it comes to reacting to things. It seems no one can find a proper way of getting their points across without the need of getting offended or offending others in this conversation. 1 needle was all it took (or 2) to start the Tekken and DOA Hate talk. I really wished the community was a bit more mature than it is now cause clearly I know this won't change.

Anyhow guys keep going at it.

Wont happen, fanboys get way too butthurt over the most minor of statements taking them as insults most of the damn time.

Mostly AAK and Co getting way way too into it.

I understood hit box and invisible wall before you had to explain it to me, thank you very much.
I'll admit and call out the same or similar Jarring hit animation when I see the same thing In DOA5 or Virtua Fighter 5 as well as any other fighter. As a promo video I was just thinking that namco should or could have selected anything else to show Lili off. I ain't saying TTT2 looks Bad overall, I want to get it! DOA will be my priority but the gameplay looks fun in Tekken and i want to get back into the series. Preorder Bonuses don't mean too much for me, I'm getting regular DOA 5 and wont need the extra costumes for Tekken either so that I know i can wait for. I'm here for the gameplay. Both look great, i want DOA5 more, but I'm excited for both and will get both in the end

You realize the people that take the troll post as truth over other people are most of the time trolls trolling right?

Tekken has pretty much 3 ways of dishing damage, pokes, juggles, throws/counters. You can say this for about anything, but it means a bit more in tekken.

Doa is full of fan service it's one of the selling points of it, denying that part of it's existence is silly.

VF being complicated is silly but it's just cause how deep it is, but in all honesty it's just as deep as tekken is but in different ways. So it can feel weird getting into it if you are a tekken player which would make it seem too complex

Us DOA5 regular edition buyers will probably have to pay for the swimsuits unlike TT2. You could call that cut content i guess.
All I'm saying is that DOA5 really has some strong competition in TT2 both releasing really close to each other and this can affect DOA5 sales for the worst.
With TT2 you get the impression that you are getting more for your money.Even with the free preorder bonuses=lols cut content thing.

Tekken is by far the most popular 3D fighter in the US. It has had national tournaments organized by Namco, been featured at EVO several years straight. What are you talking about?

What can I say fanboys being fanboys can ruin things. I see people from the DOA area that were interested in Tekken losing interest because of the community of tekken and vice versa. This day and age people forgot their manners and respect because in internet anyone can be anyone they want without getting in troubles simple as that.(For most of the time) Sad but true.

Dude this is a forum, a place for discussion. Discussions were going down. Just because I call out someone for being ignorant or spewing BS and providing a rebuttal with objective statements does that make me a fanboy? Oh well, if it does so be it, what anyone thinks about me is irrelevant. You have every right to call someone else out, OR you also have every right to ignore them as well. Nothing wrong with either. I always leave room for them to contest what I have to say.

Yes, if it isn't obvious I'm passionate about Tekken and I'm sorry if I offended anybody. I hope people actually read through my posts and know that I'm disputing specific points made by certain people and not the person him/herself.

Discussions without any respect and mostly who screams louder. It was not a civilized conversation with people politely explaining their points which can be done and has been seen before in other moments. But as you said this is a Discussion forum where apparently manners and respect can be thrown out of the window after one slight slap to a game someone loves. You can be a fanboy and still explain how someone is spewing BS about something without getting over defensive as tons of people have done here.

I'm not exactly calling him a fanboy but I'm talking about the community overall. You can have all fighting games in the existence and still be a fanboy BTW. I'm simply saying that people no matter how much they like something and how insulted they feel about negative reactions they should keep their cool and post without letting "the shade" get to them.

It's got a lot of character content, but DOA has it beat in the quality front. Higher quality models, physics, animations, bigger and more detailed arenas, etc. . . this is something the average joe will immediately see. System mechanics and character updates are drastic vs adding in tag mechanics.

A lot of players already got their Tekken fill with Tekken 5DRO and Tekken 6. DOA5 is a totally new game built on a new engine.

1. Not being a fanboy.
2. supporting the developers of the game and helping increase sales.
3. supporting the fighting genre because you have a liking for it.

Most popular 3D fighter because 3D fighters are generally not played as extensively as like SF or Marvel. And the Bob vs. Bob finals on the last Tekken EVO gave trolls ammo (which is bad in our part, but at the same time, we can't get any new players, AT ALL...)

The problem is, people who play 2D games who take their news on that sites takes it as truth. I had a friend whose a street fighter player and interested in tekken, but backed away because the whole "community" deemed the game bad. Like seriously.

Just look at the topic on TTT2 Online pass, people actually withdrew their pre-orders for it, believing the trolls that say "Namco = greedy"...

Gotta disagree with you can buy all the existing fighting games and still have preference and obviously overprotect one of those games.

I know people who buy all shooters and then shit on them because its not Call of Duty or Battlefield and with fighting games or any other genre it doesnt change anything.

Smarmy remarks appearing to be ingratiating deserve an equally smarmy response. Stop highlighting the thread on those specific posts. There were plenty of pages with actual informative and as you say "civilized" discussions going on previously. You can ignore them definitely... or you can stand up and silence them so they'll think twice before spewing their nonsense out in future discussions.

There's also nothing wrong with pointing out the flaws in posts that are most clearly irrational and ignorant. Doesn't make anyone a fanboy.
 
I'm a DOA fanboy (obviosuly), but I love playing other fighters. I feel it makes me better at DOA when I learn about new fighters. I know how to read frame datat for example just by playing various fighters over the years. A lot of fundemantals are universal.

It is wrong if you are going into the trash talking ways insulting the other game in order to get the point across. Some have done it and it makes them a fanboy for overreacting/get butthurt. I'm done with this conversation since it has obviously gotten out of the main topic even if it was forgotten a long time ago into the trash talking thread.
