Looks awesome, can't wait
That was the point. The story was fairly short, and the fact that you started off weak and unable to do everything in one go actively encouraged you to try again with carried over skills and stats. You're free to explore to your heart's content, then start over and focus more on the story missions. It's not like you're losing out on anything by doing so.It was kind of annoying not being able to do like half the side-missions or even explore at all without running the risk of screwing up the story missions. At one point I even had to restart because of it.
At one point I even had to restart because of it. It wasn't a huge deal since your levels carry over but it was still an annoyance.
Timer is dead at this point. Unless after 4 they do a big change to the series once again.
As was said earlier though, due to how the timer works. You have to make a game around the timer and add no timer as the bonus mode/other difficulty. Since the other way around give you a busted Timer Difficulty like in DR3.
It's easier to take away the timer, and let people play the whole story with no issues, than it is to make a game with no timer and try to add one onto it.
He didn't take anything away from you, or mold the game into something else. The developers chose this route, and he's happy with it.
This is silly. That poster's money is as green as yours (if in the US, I guess). If Capcom thinks there are more people like him than you, it's their call. If they're right, then I don't see why they should be expected to continue making something for a small group of people when they're a business.
That's if they're right. Who knows how it'll turn out.
Changing things up on a franchise that's a decade old is fine. But that's the thing here: Capcom Vancouver or whoever is working on this game is trying to reinvent Dead Rising while also catering to people who loved the first game and that's just a recipe for pissing people off. Remember all of this stuff that you loved? Here's how we don't actually understand what it is you loved about it.
To dupe any gullible fans of the original into buying this. Why do they keep calling that guy Frank West?

Other Amazons have it as "Xbox One Download Code" so I think it's a mistake.Amazon UK currently has this down as Dead Rising 4 [Xbox One/Windows 10 - Download Code]. I thought this was not going to be a Play Anywhere title but could they give out PC and Xbox One codes or is this just a typo?

This is splitting hairs; of course he's not on the development team, but he is saying "I'm glad this game is being made for me now, screw everybody else who liked it the way it was."
That's still selfish. If we were talking about a failed game franchise that had legitimate problems and was coming back around with the promises of fixing what was broken, it would be a different story. But we're on the fourth Dead Rising game. Technically, if you count Case Zero and Case West, it's possibly the fifth or even the sixth Dead Rising game.

Imagine if Dark Souls 4 gets handed off to a subsidiary and they slowly transform it in to a Skyrim clone. Are some people going to celebrate that? Of course! Could an easier, more generalized Dark Souls make more money for Bandai Namco? Probably! Does it mean that's actually okay? Not really, no!
Why would I give a shit about what makes them more money? I'm not an investor. I don't think anybody in this thread is. You can tell me that I should care about what makes them more money because that keeps the parent company alive, but if the chips fall and say a franchise isn't hitting its sales targets anymore, I'm actually more willing to accept the end of that franchise entirely. Twisting something like that, trying to figure out which part of the soul can be successfully amputated for more profit and wider appeal, watching that happen is legitimately sad to me, doubly moreso when it's something I actually care about. That's the kind of thinking that lead to games like Overstrike being turned in to FUSE, except here, it's an established franchise with "wiggle room."
That doesn't play with me.
But he is the one selfish for being happy the franchise is more appealing to him now?
Your argument is a little weird. People can't be happy about a game's direction if this means other people won't be happy? Sounds like you are the one being selfish dude.
So it's a timed exclusive for one year on Xbone. Microsoft publishes it though; will it ever make it to PS4?
I am quite disappointed that the timer system is gone. The game was about time management with light RPG-like leveling. It clearly fell victim to a critical response by people who incessantly whined about something they never understood in the first place.
I have a feeling it will suck but I'll probably buy it someday. They should have created a new character instead of making so many drastic changes to Frank West. Stupid.
I think it's more the attitude some people displayed. A lot seemed to display a sort of "what's yours is mine now attitude". I personally feel that if you like the new direction that's fine. But you should be cognizant of what was before it.
A good comparison I would say is the RE series. Even if you prefer 4-6 (like I do). You should still understand that without 1-3 you wouldn't have gotten any of that. Rather than just throwing those fans under the bus.
Sure, I understand that the way people are expressing their satisfaction might tick some fans off, but the complaints should be directed at the developers, not people happy with the direction.
It does go both ways though. Those kind of people are the exact reason (or one of, really) why the developers outright stated they felt inclined to negatively change up the formula, even though that subset of players already had the freedom in both mainline games to play the early Dead Risings exactly how they wanted to. You don't really see the timer crowd go "GET RID OF FREELY KILLING ZOMBIES!" so that they're exclusively being catered to either, unlike the opposing demographic.Sure, I understand that the way people are expressing their satisfaction might tick some fans off, but the complaints should be directed at the developers, not people happy with the direction.
