#DEFLATEGATE: Goodell never had any balls

Right there has been no official statement from the NFL regarding the matter but the cesspool of haters who already convicted them have others diving in with there stones ready to crucify. Its guilty until proven guilty and nothing else with the haters.

So when the NFL confirms that they're guilty of this, will you see it as the NFL being corrupt just because the ruling is against your team?

Following the confirmation that the balls were underinflated, my first thought was "fuck, not again." Now I'm not sure what to think. I'll have to wait for all the details to come out to know how I feel about this.

Yeah it's just... weird. If this is the sort of thing that Brady wants with the balls, why would this be the first time it comes up in 15 years?

I am leaning on it being a fuck-up by the staffers in charge of the balls, but I dunno.

Im awaiting more details, but for now my pats love is truly shaken.

not at all I will see it as we are guilty as charged and the league did there job. Now if its the other way around haters are still going to hate. They will say we paid goodell off or something crazy and still ride that wave.

This is Pro football. You think these players aren't pumped up on something?

It's like baseball in the steroid era. No one wants to know. Feels better that way.

There's no integrity in the NFL.

In every single sport there is someone trying to get a competitive vantage whether it's through PEDs, spying, unfair play or whatever. The whole "integrity of the sport" spiel is just silly at this point.

For real, just sit back and enjoy the show, guys. It's not a race to the moon, it's football.

Good morning everyone! How is everyone do-

enjoy your much needed rest from your long 12 hour double shift! we wil be here when you get back =). If I could deflate your air mattress I would with a smile on my face.

Luckily for me, if I slept on an air mattress, your ineptitude would still leave 1/12 of the air in it.

I hope the patriots don't scapegoat some lowly ballboy or assistant and claim they were acting alone.

That's exactly what they're going to do. Worst case scenario, Goodell makes the refs take the fall and promises to take care of them behind the scenes.

If it didn't determine the outcome of the game than its not cheating. Its just a violation. Fine them some money and move on.

Colts scored only 7 points. And those 7 points came on a drive where the Pats were flagged like 3 times. The final score should have been like 52-0.

Pats haters continue the Q_Q

Just amazing. Rules only matter if the game is close.

I totally agree. Cheating Pete should be banished for good, smh.

you do know the SeaHawks are repeat offenders of using performance enhancing drugs right? So you will be rooting for a team that has been nailed on numerous occasions for having players juiced up. You side with PEDs over deflated balls.

There is exactly 1 player that will be playing for us in the Super Bowl that has been suspended for PED use.

Care to guess how many the Pats will have? Actually, I'll save you the time, it's this guy:

who the Pats knowingly signed despite his past suspensions. Guess the Pats don't care about PED use!

Pats fans trying to thump the Bible when it comes to PED use is hilarious when they probably looked the other way for Roidney Harrison.

NFL will do nothing, if anything it'll make more people watch the Super Bowl just to watch and hope NE loses. Then next year, they'll initiate the saggy ball rule.

Besides their legacy of "questionable" actions goes back to the 80s.

Damn, they even have the cheating snowplow on display at their stadium? This is a team that celebrates cheating. No wonder they cheat so often. I bet next year they'll have all 11 deflated balls on display in their stadium for all their fans to touch.

It was a terrible analogy and not appropriate, it happens. Just be prepared to have it quoted a lot, it's going to get quoted a lot.

Yes there is some cognitive dissonance, but a lot of Pats fans are also tired of the Pats being called cheaters constantly even though a lot of people don't even know what "Spygate" was about, illegal sideline recording, not about signal stealing. Just the location of the recording.

Agree completely with this.

I wouldn't be upset with a small fine or a draft pick punishment. If it is determined that the Pats broke the rules, they should be penalized. I think it is more about Pats fans making it known that the people leaving one liners about them being cheaters, or throw the book at them, or forfeit the superbowl, or put and asterisk next to their name, are being a little extreme with punishment.

Pats fans may have some cognitive dissonance here, but severity of the crime should definitely be considered before comparing the cognitive dissonance of Pats fan due to ball deflation to the Penn State fiasco.

So, I'm a little confused. It was my understanding that the current offense provided the balls to the field.

So, while the Pats were on offense they were using under-inflated footballs. However, the Colts would've provided their own footballs during their offense? Is that correct or am I wrong about this?

I'm asking because the Pats football being underinflanted doesn't really affect the Colts, except on a on-down turnover or a punt return. Maybe a kick-off return? I'm not sure when the balls are swapped out.

Each team has their own 12 balls for offense.

Kicking balls are completely separate. They're locked away and controlled by the refs. This is because kickers would always try to fuck with the ball before games, so the NFL eventually just decided to lock that shit up.

Yes, that's correct. It doesn't affect the Colts in the sense that they weren't handling the balls (until Brady threw the interception), but it affects the Colts in the sense that it was easier for the Pats to throw and catch and grip the ball.

I don't follow the snow plow thing... I know it's kinda just a joke in here to show the Pats have been cheating..

but the Wiki says the plows were allowed for that game to clear the field. Is it just because the refs didn't officially do a time out for them to clear a spot on the field for the field goal that Shula was pissed?

it was unprecedented at the time and then made illegal after that.

Well, I'll always love the Patriots. Right now I'm hoping this is just some big misunderstanding.

Back when I thought the refs handled the balls I was wondering how the Pats could have done it. Now I guess it's a question of how and when did they do it. Based off some info from espn earlier, however credible that is at this point, it seems the balls were found to be deflated at halftime which means the pressure would have been corrected before the third quarter, right? So somewhere between the initial inspection and the half is when the balls were deflated? Those are the questions I have at this moment.

They were supposed to plow the field and clear the relevant yardlines.

He took a convenient detour and cleared a spot where the ball would be placed for the kick.

Shula was pissed because the snow plow driver went on the field and cleared the one specific spot where the kick would take place right before the play happened. It was some grade A shady shit, perfectly in keeping with the Patriots way of approaching the game. It gave them a significant advantage and was not authorized.

The NFL can choose to have the plows clear parts of the field (usually every ten yard line) during breaks in the game, but one team cannot unilaterally choose to clear a single spot on the field to give themselves an edge.

Yes, this was my point in phrasing my response as I did.

It was a response to Allen for the most part.

I can understand the stance he's taking but cheating is cheating. No matter the outcome of the game win or lose.

I didn't think it was true at first due to how absurd it sounded, but with how suspect the Pats are at times I shouldn't be surprised.

The refs do their initial inspection 2 hrs 15 min before the game, after which a team-employed handler takes care of them until kickoff.
