Destiny 2: Bungie's Vision for the Sequel

This is part of IGN First btw and shows shots of the game plus interviews with the developer. Seeing as the OP is barebones as fuck.

"For some activities in Destiny 2 you will be loadout locked, which means you can't change"
That's interesting.

Also, "Resilience, Mobility, Recovery."

"reef lab" :P

I like what they're saying, but unless someone uses a new power or they show the farm I really can't tell the difference between 1 and 2. They nailed the art style in the first game, but I really wish the graphics were better.

I love Luke. He's awesome.

I'm hearing a lot of great stuff in this video but I just hope it truly comes into fruition. Can't wait. So excited for the Beta.

Really do hope that sense of progression they talk about here is real, and that the surprises they have are huge, content and gameplay wise.

Loadout lock for certain activities very welcome addition, imo. It forces you and your team to actually look at what you are going to do [what strike, what modifiers, what enemy types it has...] and coordinate around that.

Assuming they don't do cookie cutter weapons like Gjallarhorn this time.

Resilience??? Are they finally implementing a PVP stat? That would be an interesting way to balance Crucible without screwing up PVE.

I take it to mean that we will see much greater lore detail and story attached to exotics than we do now. Maybe not?

It depends on what you want as "greater detail"

For example, the Gjally quest from ROI is quite detailed and follows the lore perfectly.
The original story is way better but impossible to replicate ingame unless it has a cutscene lol.

Luke Smith said there'll be locked loadouts for certain activities. That'll be interesting.

This kind of ties in with one of my requests for Destiny 2:

Side missions where you play as NPCs such as Cayde and Amanda. They would be missions you unlock as you get further into the game. They could either be related to the current Destiny 2 plot or be flashback missions giving you more insight into the characters.

The game would then give you a pre-set loadout to do that.

(I doubt that's what is happening but I would love it.)

Locked loadouts is a worrying statement. So profoundly hyped for this though.

Why?

Destiny 1 had next to no challenge because it had cookie cutter weapons and you could always adjust to any situation at any given second. Loadout lock sound very interesting to me as it forces fireteam to do some planning at beforehand and not YOLO hotswap 24/7 during mission.

Agree with this.

If we want to experience new things, new twists on the D1 approach to things, we have to be willing to let go of everything we are used to. If it proves fun and challenging, I'm all for it.

The new bits they showed here managed to be the best and most interesting footage of the game so far.

The fuck are you doing Bungie.

Showing us good and interesting D2 footage?
I'm saying that the 2 minutes of new footage shown here looks more interesting than what they showed at their big hour long event back in May.
Their handling of showing off the game has just been strange.
