Destiny 2: Creating the Sentinel Titan Subclass - IGN First

Just a reminder:

Why would they do a poll for "Which is the worst class", that just seems mean spirited :)

Was 3 Titans in D1 which is efficient, but also super boring.

Plan to have one of each this time around.

Titan will probably be my "main" though.
I started out as a Sungsinger in Y1, Hunter Y2 then finally Titan.

Ugh... this is hard lol

Can you respec in Destiny? Or are you locked into the subclass and all of the abilities you select forever?

The first game let you swap between traits on the fly and to and from sub classes whenever you liked, though the latter would reset your super cooldown.

Yeah I had two Titans at one point for gearing purposes, as you say nice and efficient but boring, one of each is great.

This class looks great, and maybe even OP tbh. I might switch from Hunter to this. Hunter's "new" subclass is basically just switching the blade from bladedancer to a pole, and now you can do a dodge as your ability... Bubble >> Dodge. Pretty disappointed that both Titan and Warlock basically got new subclasses and just look a lot more interesting to play compared to the Hunter, which doesn't look all that different.

Nothing really new though, Bungie basically made the Hunter complete crap over it's life cycle in the first game.

Isn't it difficult to gear out every class?

It's difficult to get 3 characters to maximum Light level.

But it's really not all that hard to have a nice set of characters that are 80-90% maxed out (at which point you are capable of doing basically all in-game activities). It really helps that you can share weapons and currency between all your characters.

They havent talked about the TTK subclasses right? I wouldnt be surprised at all of those arent in the base game and coming later with the DLC.

Oh man adding new sub classes to a game, and then taking them out in the sequel and then adding them back again in another DLC isn't going to go well, and rightfully so.

I know some of these words, I feel like not being a big Destiny fan is going to hurt me going into Destiny 2.

After the Taken Spring, once you had one character at max light level, it was trivial to get all three to max light level. Not that hard to efficiently move drops between characters if you wanted to use a different class for a particular thing and still maintain the pace of LL increase.

Definitely. "Hurr, I like my kills to be super easy on Mayhem Clash, so I roll Gunslinger, durrr."

Hunters were trash for me before Nightstalker, though, I'll admit. NS at least made the class tolerable.

Feeling a little shunned by the Bungie here...

I am a Hoonter. but come oooooon man you can't just re-skin bladedancer (which you will eventually nerf into nothingness when PvP complains about the movement) and call it a day. If the void class is still Stalker with very few changes ... ehhh.. i don't know what to think.

It was a point of pride in the first game. Like yah i run game with no bubble and no res... yah I'm still using the Sleeper and Yes, i will carry you all through this raid with my traps and smoke... i got dis.

But now i'm feeling actually left out. Like mom and dad packed the kids in the car and went to get ice cream and i'm still in the pool like uuuuhhhh.. where is fam?

holding out hope.

Bubble isn't the Titan class ability though. That's part of the Sentinel super. The Titan class ability is the rally barricade which is a stationary barrier that you can place.

Dodge has more utility than you'd think too. Being able to automatically reload with one of the dodges will be pretty helpful. Overall though I agree that the Titan subclasses look way better than the Hunter ones so far.

You still need a minimum of 20 drops (probably more like 30-40+) from a Hard Mode Raid to gear up 3 characters......I rate that as a fairly significant challenge.

I ran 5 characters between XB1 and PS4 and I couldn't really be bothered to get any of them to max light. My larger point is that you really shouldn't get caught up in pushing your way to max.

Forever their worst design choice. Balancing PvE for PvP is a perpetual albatross on the franchise.

It's the reason for the new weapon load outs in Destiny 2. We won't be able to rock shotty and rockets in PvE because they wanted to balance shotguns into a power role for PvP. All one-shot kill weapons (fusion rifle, snipers, shotguns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, etc.) are stacked into the Power slot in PvE, because of PvP.

It's my biggest worry going into the beta.

It used to be. Being able to run the VOG 3 time was a big deal back in the day.

ROI was a bit too generous and handed out gear like candy.
How I miss the days where you would beat the Templar and then spend 30 minutes while your whole fireteam switch characters, scale the rock wall and open up that chest praying for a Ghalli. Vanilla Destiny was truly an amazing co-op experience.

Unlike anything I've ever played. My first VOG clear will forever be one of my best gaming memories.
Y1 Destiny in general. L.O.V.E.

I wish Bungie came out with some armor like Enigma in Diablo 2 allowing me to use blink with this Titan. Then I would surely main the hell out of it. As it stands, it looks like it will at the least be an alternate.

They need a better fix. PvP is really making PvE unfun. They started in D1 and now they are looking to finish the job in D2. They'd have these amazing guns, but because of the pvp aspect, they'd nerf them into oblivion. Forgot what fix they did, but it made special ammo so scarce during pve.

Yeah. But we need to respect peoples time etc... I'm so glad that I was a part of Destiny back then. I hope that I'll get the same experience with Destiny 2, but I really doubt it.

IsnÂ’t it difficult to gear out every class?

Nah not really.

Once you have one maxed/near maxed you can use him to drag the other two classes along/infusion fodder for the best gear.

The hardest part is getting the first set-up.

I've all 3 classes maxed with no issues.

Always and even on the fly.

I hope so.

I made some bad choises with mine. Bad choices.

No way man, Arc for life. Striker, Blade and Storm. Void is disqualified on the grounds of having the single most boring class in the game (Defender).

Nah.

Control with a Defender Titan with Helm of Saint-14 equipped was hella fun.

Yep. I'm actually a fan of lower drop rates and RNG.

Chasing thing is fun - owning it is booooooring.

I main Titan in Destiny, I got a lot of shit in the beginning because he wasn't cool. But I'll be damned if bubble didn't come in handy for 99% of activities and everyone wants a Titan. Now Titan has become even better.

He was just as effective but had the least flashy specials (no clue about sunsinger) but damn were they a necessary class for nearly every raid. Destiny 2 seems to make them more invaluable.

VOG was the most fun I had in a raid since maybe Cataclysm in WoW. People were what made the biggest difference, it was fresh which meant quality players were still out in force, it was easy to find groups and you didn't have to jump through too many hurdles. It was pretty short lived though. All the issues with cheesing really put a cramp on the raid, most groups didn't actually even want to do the raid (Just wanted checkpoints and cheese), and the RNG (three characters over more than a month both norm/heroic to get a single character the last piece needed to get to light 30). It also just didn't have much longevity, then later none of the other raids really lived up to it, the mechanics started to fall by the wayside instead of getting more interesting like they should have (although I will say It started to swing back with Taken King, but there just wasn't a lot of content). I really could never get back into Destiny again after VOG.

Trying to understand this...

Titan can now summon and throw an auto-targeting bladedancer in the form of a shield - around corners, it appears - or just bladedance themselves... and they can bubble as well.

Hunter gets reskin of blade dance without any new movement properties or differences apparent.

Now truly the majority of Hunter's shaders making them look like clowns / jesters makes total and perfect sense.

Hey guys, a few questions that aren't thread worthy but I'm curious if we have answers yet.

1) Has anyone said if there are more options for character creation yet?

2) Do we know if we can equip emotes to all four d-pad buttons yet?

3) Are we still pulled out of the damn menus?

These all seem like basic things to let fans know but I don't know if I've seen anything yet. (I believe the sprint cool down is fully gone at least, so that's good.)

This might be the worst thing about Destiny. I really hope that they've changed this behavior.

I don't know if it was automatic based on how you load into areas, in which case it's something they should have made a point to fix, or if it was purposeful so people wouldn't be in the menus when a Crucible match or a strike started.

And if that's the case, that's dumb as all it causes players to do is spend more time trying to go back into the menu. Haha.

As of the reveal event, you could not equip emotes to all d-pad buttons and you were still pulled out of menus.

I so absolutely hate that this game isn't 60Fps...

This class looks fun as fuck.

I don't have an issue with being pulled out when I land somewhere. But it happens multiple time from orbit to entering the activity/landing in a social space. Maybe it's only twice though? :lol

You get me.

It is...on PC.

Don't have a fancy PC yet.

I'm tempted to eat my words and get it for PS4 but ...ehhh

D1 was a huge time vampire.

I'm gonna be honest here.

It's completely unacceptable if Destiny 2 comes out and you can still only equip a single emote. It's one thing not making the change during three years of updates and expansions in the original game (which was still frustrating) but to ignore that issue in Destiny 2 would be ridiculous.

(Could you even go down to the lower menu in the reveal event though? To see shaders and all that?)
