Think of bloom in Reach. I rarely use ADS if that helps.
So basically like Reach but with the added option of ADS, right? If that's the case, then that's fine. Thanks for answering.

Another question, is Bumper Jumper (or an equivalent) in the game?

I am not understanding the boatloads of invisible walls throughout levels though. Odd.

Yea I was going to mention that if I catch an employee tonight. I do understand it though. As they say if you can see it you can get there. That's the problem. Like Bungie does they've built a real word here. Anywhere you are in the world you can see a location you can get too. Example. There is a giant ship in the center of the Old Russia map. You can see this from almost any area on the map. You can get there. You can play in that space underneath it. So they have to limit you to the playable space. That said there is so much to explore in the world that I am still finding something new every time I go to explore. This is only one zone mind you. There are multiple locations in the retail game.

I like everything I see about this game except the AI. Watching the leaks and now the Giant Bomb video it just looks really rough. Enemies standing around, not especially aggressive, nothing very intelligent about them. I mean, it's an Alpha, and it's Bungie, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. I just hope they address it before launch.

PvP, shockingly, looks really good. Not Halo good, but better than I thought it would be.

It is good. He's right they regularly ask us what we disliked. They are proud of the game but they know they have something to prove and by god they're going to try their damnedest to prove it. You can also tell that they are proud of the game. They truly love making the game they're making. I have no doubt about that.

Man, thank god for this thread or I wouldn't have really known about how serious Bungie was about this. This pleases me to no end, hope this keeps up post launch. I need to start poking around Bungie's site again. Feelin' that Halo-vibe of old coming back strong.

Do they look to an official forum for feedback? Want to keep that in mind for possibly alpha, and for sure for beta.

The AI is polished even at this stage. They act intelligently and are unpredictable. You can see hints of this in free-roam, but this is most evident in Story and Strike missions.

the ADS stuff is a bit tricky, i dont feel it's ads like in other games, more like every weapon weapon has a zoon akin to the BR, dmr or pistols from halo. They dont impact your movement nearly as much as in other games and often times you dont need to use your sights. On some weapons, like the shotguns, hand cannon, fusion rifle, it's pretty much useless, while other weapons like the Auto Rifle, it's only useful at mid range. It seems the main reason why they gave all weapons a sight is because it allows for the guns to have a visual upgrade when you level your weapons.

I have been waiting so long for an MMO shooter that does combat like an actual good shooter. Throw in a massive world, adding stuff to do all the time and shiny loot....Give it to me.

I'll definitely say Activison has done a poor job marketing this game. The trailers still feel dull even after playing the game itself. The game itself is fun. I suggest getting a Beta code if one can and trying it out

Sounds like PvP needs a camper clock. I'm sure there's no real way to utilize that idea. Thing is with most MP games is that one stategy follows the entire lifespan of the game.

Thanks for the footage, that was nice.

Yup. Luke said it best. explore is the mode to just go and shoot shit while you chat and to explore. It's not designed to be a huge challenge. That's not to say it can't be at times. But if you want to see the AI actually do it's thing play Strikes and eventually raids. The higher the difficulty the more you get to see that Bungie AI. Doing Devil's Lair for example on Legend difficulty you get a lot of elite enemies coming at you. They take time to kill. It's fun to watch them.

Yes, but I don't use it.
Thank god. Is it called Bumper Jumper, or does it have a different name now? Just curious.

Also, how do they handle the difficulty? Are there different difficulty levels? Thanks again BTW.

The game looks really, really good, and what's more there seems to be so much content packed into it. I just don't understand the hate for it.

It's not identical to Halo, but it shouldn't be anyways.

Theres a couple places in the old russia that would make for some amazing races between friends, especially if you have fallen taking pot shots as you race, it feels like pod racing from star wars, it's pretty awesome.

Do you feel like there's anything missing from the combat? A lot of folks who have (and haven't) played it have voiced some concerns about the action in Destiny. Like, it's not bad, but it's not unique either. How do you feel about it? Is the class-building and magic stuff enough to differentiate Destiny's combat engine from other shooters?

Thanks Dax - really kind of you to answer all of these questions. I'm tremendously excited for this. My questions-

The cube voice / character- after some time with him did he become likeable / charming?

What , if any, are the mechanisms in there to avoid horrible trolls? I love the idea of getting deep into something with a social aspect, but I don't want to be turning my mic on to be getting sexist / dumb teenage boy aggro from some anonymous warlord.

Do you think there is / will be scope for detailed teamwork - a bit like high level raids in WoW?

I know some of these may already have answers out there but I'd like to know GAFfers personal impressions. Thanks!

My biggest complaint, if I had to name one, is for them to take out ADS. I don't think it works given the player's maneuverability.

Also up the feedback a bit. Fallen Tanks are fun to fight against but they could be more satisfying to kill.

I'm seeing the ads issue especially on assault rifles...it obstructs the screen during your fast firefight...should have stuck to halo style

Yes, I think, but I don't remember what it's called. I turned off my PS4.

Difficulty is a bit confusing. Difficulty is organized in several ways: levels of enemies, difficulty levels (Brave or Legend, which I assume ups the levels of the enemies). Before you go on Story or Strike missions, the game will take you what levels the enemies are at (level 3 or level 6, etc).

What perks do you get from Bungie or Microsoft for making threads like these? Are they billable hours?

This thread has a very 'astroturf' feel to it, IMO.

I've read some fairly blunt criticisms too, so I don't really agree with you. But I do love your work, especially that first Porno for Pyros album!

Looks slow. And floaty. I'm too addicted to freedom and speed that Titan Fall grants. Well hope those that like this sort of style enjoy the alpha. Goodluck to everyone that will play.

Yup. I love just riding around Old Russia. Also I want to let folks know we're being honest. The game isn't perfect. I've mentioned some of my nitpicks with some of the Bungie guys. I'll list those here.

I would like to see more AI in the open world. I don't think that's possible though sadly. I'd also like to see the classes play a bit more differently. That's improved a lot since pre-alpha and you can see a difference there in the Alpha too. I feel the enemies in explore probably do need some more health because yea they do go down a bit too easy I feel. I feel that in Crucible it should try to put everyone on a team into a voice channel because as it is now it doesn't. So yea there are some issues. I think Bungie though will fix those that they can and make changes in future Destiny games to the ones they can't change now.

The Giant Bomb vid has restored some of my interest, but I still am a little unsure about the combat.

Also not sure I want to go down the MMO rabbit hole again.

Dude that's straight up uncalled for. We're all fans just like everyone else. We just lucked out and got early access.

Thanks breh. I'm pretty proud of that first Porno for Pyros album (esp. 'Sadness'). Somebody should cover that song.

But Ritual de lo Habitual. I've never quite reached the hights again that I reached there on Three Days and Then She Did.

in stike theres a lot more variety, the hive wizzard will poison areas on the ground and spawn exploding enemies, the fallen have invisible characters that will deciimate you with snipers are need to be taken out fast since they'll down you in 2 hits and if you lose track of them they'll tear you apart. It's a good mix, and the boss fights require team work, like needing a person to take out the cannon fodder. I did the strike on the highest setting and even with my level 8 hunter with the best weapons I can find, I've died several times.

The game still feels a lot like halo but they made the right changes to make the game feel unique and different.

World map is super sweet. It's similar to the first dozen of seconds in the E3 trailer. You can see it 23minutes into the GiantBomb video.

Well a sweet little birdy just whispered into my ear, I'm so excited to finally play this game. Long live Halo-GAF!

Four years since Reach of wondering what it's all about... today I find out. :) Looking forward to playing with ya'll and posting some feedback.
