Yes it does when team shotting is so deadly in D2.
That hasn't been my experience at all. The stray kill or two? Sure. Getting completely blown out by a team focusing fire on individual players? That doesn't seem common at all.

People don't like playing an unfinished game, color me surprised.
I dont think Destiny 1 pvp was ever fun.
I do, however, think Destiny 2's pvp is very fun!

Anyone who played competitive PVP in D1 knew that you couldn't even look down certain lanes of maps because it meant instadeath.
lol your posts really make me shake my head.E-Sports crowd ruined Street Fighter V, now they are killing Destiny 2 by turning into a neutered shooter.
bravo
I want my Sub-Class to mean something.
D1 Sub-Class builds >>>>>>>>> whatever they are trying to force on us in D2
No They are changing it because no matter how much I love destiny 1 PVP, It needed to be changed. It seems like Destiny 2 has hit a nice balance and I do think it need some tweaking. it is a good basis at least from what I played in the beta. This must be why I don't enjoy Destiny 2. They catered it to people who didn't enjoy Destiny 1 rather than the people who played and supported the game for all those years.

I played over 6000 games of trials in Destiny 1, out of my 2.6k hours playtime in D1 like 70% of it was PVP. Destiny 2's PVP makes me sad. So yes.
Ive never seen an edge so sharpSupers should be removed from the game and it would probably resemble something decent. Till then it'll always feel like one of those joke shooters that wants to be a MOBA like that Blizzard thing that people who can't aim like.

Do you play pvp by yourself or mostly with a group?
They made it so it's more group oriented now.
You won't get very far by yourself.
I think Bungie's goal is to make every pvp mode as tryhard as trials of Osiris was in the first game.
I agree with op for the reasons listed. I really havent enjoyed my time with the free beta and i kinda doubt ill be there at launch. Considering ive been there all 3 years thats not good.
Why not make osoris permanent? This seems like the over complex solution that has a larger risk of driving away players.
Loved Titanfall 1's multiplayer
Hated Titanfall 2's beta multiplayer
Loved Titanfall 2's actual multiplayer
Loved Destiny 1's multiplayer
Hated Destiny 2's beta multiplayer
(Fingers crossed)

The idea of 2k hours of D1 PvP makes me feel physically ill. So many fists of panic. Horrifying.
Same. I want to like D2's multiplayer so bad, but the PvP in the beta is cabals.
I like the changes in D2.
Having spent a large portion of my D1 time within PVP, going to the lighthouse 30+ times and IronBanner on the regular, these changes were needed.
D1 regressed into everything but maybe 2-3 primaries that were functional in PvP. Everything else came from Shotgun/Sniper kills and Heavy Ammo. I feel like Destiny is trying to compete with other popular shooters by providing a primary heavy gunplay model, and removing one-shot kills.
I played with a large group of people in D1, some of them were amazing at PVE, but could not hang in PVP because it was practically a different game entirely. I feel like making primary gunplay matter is what levels the playing field for folks who didn't master snap-shot headshots or blink shotgun cheese mechanics, which didn't translate to the rest of D1.
Anyone who played competitive PVP in D1 knew that you couldn't even look down certain lanes of maps because it meant instadeath. Hard-scoping, body camping, revive sniping, make one slip up and you're dead. Now it's more like Halo, where seeing someone first doesn't mean you win.
Give it some time, my friends and I had a blast in the D2 beta, not just my PVP buddies, but my PVE ones as well, and I think that's the point Bungie was trying to achieve.
You must be referring to Siege because Destiny2.exe is called Teamshot: The Game

Man, I hope people aren't banking on a TF2 style turnaround here. The TF2 beta was meh and the final game was my GOTY. Expecting that type of turnaround for any game seems ripe for disappointment.
Both devs have been around the block enough to know what to do. The question is will Bungie actually do the changes it needs.
You can strafe and jump in Halo. In Destiny 2, you have to hug a corner and aim down your sight with a pulse rifle to throw bullets into someone until you trade or one of you eventually falls down.
A thoroughly explained and well presented wrong opinion.

Pretty sure he/she wasn't. Regular old D1 Crucible is just a spam of grenades, supers, melee-charges and secondary weapons. Always has been. Every mode.
Bungie has changed what they want PvP to be for D2. Those who dont enjoy it know what those of us who didnt enjoy D1 feel like now. Sucked. I understand and feel for you all.

I liked the PVP well enough, but I've yet to see a compelling reason why Control couldn't be more than 4v4. Just bump the player count up for God's sakes.
I imagine it will feel different for awhile, of course it being a beta everything isnt final so I think it's important to remember that.
It looks pretty, I for one can't wait for the whole game.
Should we expect almost the same small worlds?
What can i say, Trials of Osiris captivated me. Not only that but the real reason any of us dgaffers have over 2k hours or whatever (some gaffers have 6-8k hours) was the social aspect. PVP was fun (when it wasn't downright enraging) because it allowed me to do stuff like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6ByDlVww_w
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBcelJXsWO8
But that alone isn't enough for me to play so much. I played that much because of the friends that i made in DGAF and the people that you could help in trials.

Secondaries ran rampant in Destiny when they nerfed primaries at the end of Y1.
Instead of balancing the three exotic hand cannons that dominated the meta in a surgical way, they nuked the whole weapon class from orbit.
Those HCs kept snipers in check (Hawkmoon was great for this) and punished people aping with a shotgun (TLW, anyone?).
The flat footed pulse rifle meta that bloomed, to start Y2 after, was the precursor for the stale, static gunplay in D2's beta-meta.
Without strong primaries to keep the one hit kill weapons in check, all sorts of less successful changes to the sandbox were implemented to try and make shottie and snipers less prominent.
In D2, we're saddled with two primaries, both still weak, and our special weapons have been removed from the game for large swaths of time in both pve and pvp. Instead of buffing primaries, the ttk has gotten even slower. Movement has been slowed down.
All this is a reaction to the first unnecessary wave of nerfs that totally ruined Destiny's PvP at the end of year one.
Strong primaries challenge secondaries. They reward gunskill. They increase the skill gap.
Things have been getting worse for Destiny pvp with every balance patch. Most hardcore PvPers I know would rather play Y1, vanilla balance than any since (even with the warts and bumps--it wasn't perfect). It was fast, it was fun, primaries were powerful and special/power weapons were not a problem.
