Gaming springs into action by removing detachable Joy-Con controllers from either side of Nintendo Switch. One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch systems together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition.

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 20, 2016 – In an introductory video released today (http://www.nintendo.com/switch), Nintendo provided the first glimpse of its new home gaming system and revealed that it is called Nintendo Switch. In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.

At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting Nintendo Switch from the dock, the system will instantly transition to portable mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on an airplane, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment.

I'm liking it. Especially for my kids. 2 controllers basically ship with it. Hopefully they don't overprice theor peripherals.

Loved that it looks like you'll be able to have one controller in each hand without having to have them connected. It's where I always wanted controllers to go after the Wii.

Shame it looks like the d-pad is gone except for the pro controller.

My hands are cramping up in feverish anticipation.

Seriously, can't wait to play that sucker, but as big handed guy this looks like it could hurt in "single con" configuration.

Thank god for this thing, because those base controllers look like an ergonomic mess to me. I don't understand how the analogue stick can be directly below the buttons on the right side of the controller. How is that not a huge pain in the ass to play with.

My only disappointment is that the shoulders are probably not scroll wheels like in that one patent. Huge missed opportunity there.

Here is the big question

Will the wireless options on the Switch support all the legacy devices like the WiiU pro?

Im guessing they plan on not offering it even though it would take zero effort to implement

The pro controller looks good and the joy con stuff looks ergonomic when attached to the portable screen, but the joy con controller grip is an ergonomic mess. Let me not even talk about holding the mini joy con controller with two hands for multiplayer.

It's exactly what I predicted. Split controllers each with four face buttons and a stick, a battery hub for use when unattached from the screen, and with each mini controller being used for multiplayer. All the arguing in the EG leak thread was worth it for this moment of glory. GLORY.

thing looks awesome, can't wait :)

Also, this looks REALLY close to that one guy's mock up from the EG thread.

The size looks pretty good, though I probably won't be able to fit the screen in my pocket anymore. But that's what cases and bags are for.

What I absolutely love about this is the apparent complete break from Wii things. It had a good decade and now it's time to move on.

I take it you never played the Gamecube, huh? Or any Xbox or Dualshock controller ever in your life? Pretty much every dual analog controller except the WiiU's had the face buttons above the right analog stick.

That is a sexy-ass pro controller. They finally got the layout correct and used concave sticks.

Hopefully it can connect to PC and do it natively rather than requiring a 3rd party adapter.
