Detroit Become Human - E3 2016 Trailer

i don't get all this hate frankly...
the trailer is interesting...

The jabs at David Cage and the criticisms aimed at the writing, acting and what have you are automatic by this stage. They'll never go away no matter what Quantic Dream showcases. Granted, some of it is warranted, but so many of the naysayers are only able to communicate in such broad and sensationalist strokes that it is pretty tiresome by this stage. You know what a lot of people are going to say before they even say it.

As someone who was very much disappointed by Beyond, I thought this was a terrific trailer, heavy-handed tone aside. It feels weird being back on the hype train for a QD title, but I think they nailed it here. The fact that they're taking such strong influence from Heavy Rain with the return of a rubber-band narrative, multiple leads and perma-death scenarios says to me that they're aware of their strengths as a developer, and are aware of why Beyond was so coldly received in comparison.

Trailer looked great. Multiple playable characters is great. Quantic Dream continues to be one my favorite developers even if they're self-serious and the Internet at large hates them. Keep on being David Cage, David Cage.

Get used to it, Cage is the antichrist for some people, and will always be. Funny thing is people is criticizing him for the writing in the trailer and we have no clue if he wrote all the dialog or any at all in that scene.

I thought the performance by Connor was fantastic as well.

He gave off a really creepy android vibe. Definitely more interested in playing him then Kara.

I really like the premise. I'm hoping for a return to the Heavy Rain formula as opposed to Beyond. Definitely prefered the former to the latter. I thought the dialogue was pretty good. That said I have come to expect a bit of stiffness and cheese with Quantic Dream dialogue. From what I have seen, it's nowhere near bad enough to be a dealbreaker

For sure. It's just a recurring thing for these character introduction videos. The third lead they reveal in the game will likely do the same thing. Could do without it quite frankly, but eh.
Yup. I think they tried to avoid people going "but wheres Kara?" with this, since it's an obvious throwback line, but I guess it flew over peoples head already or was too subtle. Then again after 8 months most probably just forgot lol
This is pretty cool still, since I kinda got the vibe they were going for multiple protagonists again after hearing the Kara line originally, so my intuition was right :P

I actually thought it looked decent from the trailer. That being said, it's David Cage trying to seemingly tackle something Blade Runner-esque, which would lead to some unintentional hilarity

i would love to believe the promise of this Trailer, but I don't. The full game just won't achieve what this is promising. No game ever does. People have been promising these crazy amount of choices and outcomes in games for years, the best we got was Mass Effect 2, which has maybe what? 3 or 4 outcomes per encounter?

This is some nice real time graphics:

Especially since someone said that this portion runs at 60 fps for whatever reason

I like my David Cage games a lot! Nice to see dragonbane in these threads also.

If the writing is stronger, it really could be something amazing. But I like the mundane interactions in a Cage game the most- the technicality, and presentation always blows my mind.

Finally got around to watching this.

As someone who absolutely loved Heavy Rain and found Beyond fairly average, I think this is looking fantastic! Tons of potential!

This is definitely warranted scepticism and I doubt every scene will have as much branching, for kinda obvious narrative reasons alone and the constraints it would have. But they are definitely trying to up the game here:

The Lead Game Designer seems quite confident. Plus Heavy Rain was still the strongest in this department from recent memory. Of course it had a lot of fakey stuff going on as well, but at least there were genuine strong repercussions for what you did. If this can build on that I can't ask for anything more

Why is this trailer 60fps
I have no clue, the black bars are gone as well, which is strange. Maybe Neo will have a passive VR mode? Or maybe they target high so that they can drop to 30 comfortably later on like ND and have rock solid performance.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it. I have no history with QD. Although, I'm not really trying hard. I thought it looks pretty good. For some reason, I'm hoping at least connor's section is like L.A Noire with the guff.

Play Alpha Protocol ASAP

It looked very good. And sounded too, I'd really like to find the soundtrack!

Some of the dialogue, like "you were designed to serve / I am not alive" seemed a bit forced since it had obvious retorts, but I can see ways it might make more sense in context - like Connor (also) having developed a sense of self but trying not to attract attention - and the voice acting seemed pretty good too!

I wonder if this exact game was made by another studio then the David Cage one. if then y'all like this game suddenly. It seems so to me. Nitpicking on small details. Anyway this trailer was awsome. especially the hyped music maked the whole trailer exciting for me.

Less boredom and less plot holes
Well at least that and Heavy Rain's strengths don't contradict each other, so we should be fine :P

The framerate is unlocked in the demo, for some reason.
Interesting. As far as I know they use traditional vsync so that would explain why it shifts between 60 and 30. I'm sure the final game will be locked to 30, but the pleasant takeaway is that there is even a scene that gets to 60 fps. In Beyond 30 fps was the absolute maximum it could reach on PS3 and not that often lol. Plus the reveal trailer was sort of confirmed to ran < 30 fps when rendered in real time even during a similar close-up like this, so they made some nice progress since then it looks like

Looks incredible. Will buy this day fucking one. Love Quantic Dream stuff. Lots of multiple protagonists like their previous games.
