Detroit Become Human - E3 2016 Trailer

Really impressed with the amount of choices for just one scene.

Looks great! I'm all in if they move away from Beyonds non-chronologic story telling approach.

Is Kara no more? I thought she was supposed to be the protagonist?
Multiple protagonists I think. Kara had the same "My name is x, this is our story" line at the end of the first trailer.

Wow at the cynicism in this thread at one of the few companies and creators actually trying to pushing forward choice driven, narrative-focused "cinematic" (yes I used the term) games despite their numerous (and legitimate) criticisms and failures.

Someday this will evolve into something more. These are stepping stones.

from my point of view, all that kind of games can evolve into is something less

the initial sparking thought that videogame needs to be more like movies instead of their own thing sounds incredibly wrong in my head

Cage games are some of my favorite comedies so I'm in.

No really, I loved Heavy Rain, wasn't at all interested in Beyond, but this has been back in again. AI rebellion stories are a weakness of mine.

More detective work, less angsty android existentialism please. I don't even see how the android thing is relevant here. You could have done the same scene with people.

Maybe, but at least with Androids the "detective vision" crap will actually make sense. All kinds of stuff in the trailer foreshadows a heavy android existentialism story, which a lot of people eat up, like me!

Looked a lot more interesting than the first trailer. Kara was a neat concept and all, but I'm happier to see how the game will play. Glad it's looking more Heavy Rain than Beyond. Hopefully they do cool stuff with contextual interactions like they did in Heavy Rain, instead of everything being "move the stick towards the dot" like in Beyond.

He really is the Tommy Wiseau of video games. Cringeworthy.
You said that when Beyond was unveiled as well, almost exact same line, how I still remember I dont know. Maybe think of something original next time :P

The first half of the trailer is running 60fps most of the time, the latter half falls back to 30, I wonder why they went like that instead of constant 30fps (this as a 60fps fanatic)

Anyway, I'm hype, can't wait to play it with my wife accompanying me. We did that with Heavy Rain and it was the one and only game we played together. So David Cage is special for me in that regard, no matter how much hate and flak he gets.
It's not like he deserves any hate really. Not liking the games is fine, hating on a developer seems pretty weird, especially when he has done nothing to anyone but some people treat him like he is destroying gaming xD It's so old and tired when the guy hasn't even said anything in years.
Also thats very odd the trailer even reaches 60 fps. Im sure they will lock it to 30 as their past games though.

As a Canadian, all I can think of is whether or not Windsor will be featured/worked into the story somehow. lol

I can see it on the skyline in the trailer.

The graphics, setting, and the idea of playing an ace attorney like game where there aren't any failstates and the story changes based on how much evidence you procure and how intuitive you are at negotiating is really really appealing to me.

David Cage does not appeal to me.

We'll see how this goes.

I have a feeling Kara is going to be hunted by the negotiator or his company.
Yeah Im sure this will be catch and mouse at one point and you kinda have to decide which character you like more or how to play him/her lol

Not really since the end result will probably affect him in a way that only makes sense in this context. Or not affect I guess if you die lol

Is Kara no more? I thought she was supposed to be the protagonist?
She is one of the playable protagonists indeed.

World looks interesting. If there really is that much choice and variation in how scenes play out it could be pretty cool.

The dialogue though... And by god that acting! Connor and the other android are OK, but the girl and her mom are just awful! Especially cringeworthy after Uncharted 4.

Can't wait.

I thought originally we were supposed to play as a girl? The trailer on Beyond: Two Souls didn't show Conner. Wonder if the original actress bolted or there was a contract dispute.

Edit: oh ok. Connor is another character along with Kara.

i thought it looked really interesting o.0

so is this basically set after Deus Ex Human Revolution heheh kinda enjoy seeing sci-fi revitalized detroit

Wow, some of these reactions are so exaggerated. Almost seems like some people just have a hate-boner for David Cage. I thought the trailer looked great.

I actually didn't find much to cringe in this trailer (part of the reason it caught me off guard with how much it impressed me).

Some weird lines here and there, but nothing too bad.

The concept I thought was great. Tried but still great. An android hostage negotiation to open the game with? Choices that branch out from that? Sounds great.

Yea, I'm excited for the game despite not caring for QD's past work.

The trailer got my interest. I liked the investigation stuff in Heavy Rain, so happy that it's in this game too.

Doesn't look that bad to me honestly, I don't quite get the hate. And I don't care about Cage games or have played them.

I've never played a QD game before but the last too look so awkward, cringey and am dram that I had absolutely no interest.

I didn't like the first trailer for this either, but the trailer last night was very good imo. Didn't really detect any cringe, seems like a solid, mature detective adventure set in a dystopian sci fi near future. Couldn't really ask for more.

Didn't play Beyond, but loved Heavy Rain. Despite it's obvious flaws, I felt it offered a unique experience. I love these android stories, so I'm quite hyped about Detroit!

i think the ones who hate the game are only hardcore nerds who hate david cage for some reason, i would bet anything that if they didn't know this was a Quantic dream game they wouldnt hate it.

I feel like people are searching for/prepared to be cringed when looking at a QD trailer. Probably because David Cage can be insufferable.

I don't see anything here that is of lesser quality than say Life is Strange or Walking Dead, which people here seem to love. As someone who played both very recently, those games have quite some cheesy/cartoonish lines in their narrative, especially the former (I'd even argue this is a worse offender than Beyond).

For example, I do not see a problem with the "you can't kill me because I am not alive" line, as it is an android simply stating the truth. Fits the scene in my opinion, and importantly, it emphasises the differences in views between the two characters displayed. One regards himself a living being with rights, the other regards himself a machine that must obey humans. Sooo, why is this line so bad for some?

Anyways, I thought the trailer was ace. The voice acting, direction, tension build up, score etc. all were executed greatly.

This looked great imo, sure it's not subtle in the slightest, but that's fine with me.

I loved Heavy Rain, and quite enjoyed Beyond, the studio gets too much hate.

You can't kill me. I cant die.

My favourite line a video game. Cage if you reading this, dont take offense, you are a much better writer then most of us on gaf BUT I am soley buying this game to make all the wrong decisions and fail all the QTE's. Comedy Gold awaits.

They make fun games.
If one of them has a very good story one day it'll be a nice bonus, but if I get to scare a bunch of asshole teenagers to death again, I'll be happy.

Also, in the year of "everything is open world, everything is Last of Us", is this really the most derivative and unoriginal game?

It's quite astounding how people can ignore thousands of games but when it comes to Quantic Dream they NEED to shit on everything they make constantly.

from my point of view, all that kind of games can evolve into is something less

the initial sparking thought that videogame needs to be more like movies instead of their own thing sounds incredibly wrong in my head

That's the philosophy Sony's had since the very first PlayStation, and most console games today are more cinematic in part because of that.
