Detroit Become Human - E3 2016 Trailer

This is gonna be a mess, but it looks like it'll be an interesting one, and I'm totally down for that. Robot detective could go some good places too, so I'm in.

Good that they went back to roots of what made Heavey rain great in this game. Cant wait to see more and I'm not interested in it as this has some vibes of LA Noire.

Really? You could have fooled me. That dialogue is so stiff and laughably clichéd.

I thought it was okay but maybe I've just come to expect cheesy dialogue from Quantic Dream and that's why it didn't quite register as bad for me? I'd have to rewatch it to be sure.

Sony's conference has gotten me excited about so many games that I usually don't care about. I had been pretty down on narrative games but I really want to play this. I am truly very excited about most of Sony's exclusive games and I haven't always been able to say that.

I, too, want to know this -- but playing a cyberpunk detective is kinda more appealing (to me) than playing another Jodie. Guess what I'm trying to say is - I dig Connor

You play several characters in Detroit.

Kara and Connor are 2 of the playable ones.

Maybe I just have bad expectations but I don't see how it was bad or cringey.

It wasn't.

People are full of shit when it comes to David Cage. I know that in theory you could say it's objective, but no it's not. When you have that many people "loving" doubtful telltale games and Until Dawn, then shitting at anything Cage makes, you know they're biased and are not even giving it a chance.

It was a bit stiff and forced but I love games that allow you to really effect the outcome of events and hopefully Cage has learned from his mistakes or at least stream lined and improved things.

Don't understand people saying it looks bad, guess having an interactive plot is just polarizing in that way. Love the concept of narrative driven by being attentive and careful of your surroundings. I also love the character being an android negotiator, can open up for some interesting scenarios.

I'm into what Cage is trying to do with his games, and sometimes succeeds at. Robot people is always a decent concept. I don't know how successful this game will be at what it's going for, but I'll give it a shot.

The trailer was real serious about hammering home that this is a game where your choices affect the story. Which is pretty useless for anyone who knows what a Quantic Dream game is.

I was expecting it to be a single character again but I'm glad it's not.

It might just be the new character but his hair looked a lot better than Kara's!

As with previous Quantic Dream games, I'm sure I will enjoy this a lot the first time I play it, but will not feel like going through it again even if it had multiple endings. That's not really a bad thing, as I'm glad I'm able to enjoy the first playthrough a lot.

There will definitely be more. It's one of the main things they have in mind with Detroit

Yes this is indeed it. I know for a fact they listed to people complaining about Beyond and its lack of drastic branching and they try to address that. They hired multiple writers specifically to handle the increase in workload coming from increased branching
While I enjoyed beyond, that was one of my issues with it so I'm even more excited.

I know Cage gets a lot of hate but to me, at least at my age, he's one of the few that does something unique and I always enjoy his stuff.

I don't like new main character but I think the story is interesting and it can lead to some good moments. I'm hoping Connor is just one story and we get Kara and other Androids.

Connor reminds me of Norman Jayden from Heavy Rain who I had very little interest in while I couldn't wait to get to the Ethan and Scott parts.

Heavy Rain + Bladerunner + Ex Machina

That's what i felt from this trailer.

I love it. you can see their experience from beyond on the usage of camera

I'm hype for this.
Reading the last 2 pages , people really don't pay attention. I feel that this will be needed to enjoy this kind of gameplay

I liked Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls so I'm definitely interested in this. Cage says you play as multiple characters, and I hope that doesn't take away from the story too much. Please don't jump around a lot and cause confusion, lol.

The writing in the trailer is really turning me off. Detroit looks like baby's first scifi story about androids and will probably be handled in the most cliche and obvious manner. I might still check this out since I've enjoyed David Cage's games and their dumb plots in the past, but I am so glad he is no longer the only developer creating narrative focused games with branching events.

As someone who grew up across from that city, I love seeing the RenCen and Comerica Tower in there, just like in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It helps that the game looks solid, too.

Looks better than the tech demo to me

I was kind of interested until I realized it all the outcomes would be scripted and emergent gameplay is extremely unlikely.

Still excited for it, but some of that voice acting is awful. Beyond's voice acting was pretty solid from what I recall, so this feels like a step backward.

Nice to see every generic android / robot SciFi trope on display.
Has this been done in gaming a lot?

Also, TLOU is about as generic as you can get, but it’s well executed and turned out to be a brilliant game.

I don’t get the teasing for Cage’s game. I enjoyed Heavy Rain somewhat, skipped Beyond, but this genuinely looked interesting, and I don’t remember a ton of games with themes like this.

Not knocking anyone’s views, but just seems weird to me, Cage’s game seemed pretty fresh and different and the trailer was well done.

I don't think "objectivity" is ever a point of contention. If a person subjectivity like Telltale Games more than David Cage games, what's the problem?

I doubt you really need to worry about that. I'm pretty sure the voice acting will actually become less monotone the more "alive" Connor gets :P This game will have a lot of characters, so some of the one-off ones maybe won't be all that stellar, but I'm sure it will be good where it matters

The issue is more unreasonable trolling and shitting on without having seen anything substantial. It's fine to be cautious based on past experiences you personally had, but just constantly shitting on something is really annoying when you can just ignore his games completely and should if there is no way you will ever like one. Not saying you are one of those, just that there are a fair share bit of Cage haters on here that constantly try to derail every thread

Fuck you GAF, I thought this looked cool as shit.

Detective business/dialogue having an actual effect on scenarios? That's pretty damn cool

this is amazing, I love how it's basically Heavy Rain on steroid. so many possible outcome from that 1 scene alone. this has jumped to one of my most anticipated games list along with Horizon, GoW and Kojima game.

I am wondering, Is he the main character or just one of the main characters?

Because when the game was announced it showcased a different character:

I am thinking that the game is going to have multiple characters that you play as (Like Heavy Rain).

I hope they didn't scrap the Kara character or story and she's still a part of it.

apparently they have 3 main character similar like Heavy Rain. they have 1 more character, hopefully we see the last one at gamescom or PSX

Wasn't completely sold on Heavy Rain after completing it, and I didn't play Beyond.

This trailer actually makes me really want to play this. Maybe it's the whole future Blade Runner vibe, or the improved graphics/animation maybe leading to less jank.

The other thing might also be what an effect Until Dawn had on me last year, and how I really want to play a similar game again.

Looking forward to seeing more, hopefully this is the game that sells me on Cage's vision.

Cause it's the same line Kara used in the first trailer. It's supposed to be a throwback confirming there are multiple protagonists and this is "their story". You can expect that for the next character as well they unveil.

Oh right. Thanks for clarifying!

Still, doesn't stop "This is my/our/his/her/their story" from being corny as hell.

Loved what I saw, and I like the idea of playing a android that can be destroyed and come back in another unit. I liked the Norman Jayden segments in Heavy Rain a lot and I'm guessing there will be a lot of that type of stuff for the android character.
