DF: Battlefield 4 XB1 vs. PS4

These DF topics are great.
COD ghosts: 720p vs 1080p, just ever so slightly more consistent framerate on X1. "I'll take the xbox one version, framerate is king".
BF4: 720p vs 900p, framerate 10 fps consistently better on ps4. "Eh, the gap isn't that big, the X1 version looks good enough to me".

whats the next AAA Multiplat game.

If BF4 on the bone ran at the same resolution as the PS4 version you can bet your balls it would run at 30 fps.

Often when GPUs get severely overloaded they just conk out badly in performance. It might be more like 20FPS if the system could really not handle it.

I'm sure they would tear down the gfx before that.

AC4 is next, I can see the excuses coming:

-900p vs 1080p isn't that much difference anyway, Ryse is 900p and looks good
-PS4 owners have no issues with 900p on BF4, so it must be good enough
-You don't have to snipe people from afar in AC4 so 900p is fine.
-I'd rather be able to snap TV next to my AC4 game than to play in 1080p

You thought the even smaller gap of Read Dead Redemption 360/PS3 version in both resolution and framerate was significant enough to mention before:

The frame rate difference in BF4 is pretty much bigger than any framerate difference you've enjoyed with the 360 over PS3:

Now the tables have turned, and it's dismissable as "small difference"?
LOL
Jeez, coldfoot bringing the rain.

Didnt you do something similar to Senju? Dat rainmaker.

How did the gap widen when they added HBAO which was missing from the last comparison, and all the textures are identical to a PC on high for both Xbone and PS4?
Seems like the framerate advantage is more consistant in this comparison, maybe? Adding effects doesn't necessarily make the overall gap smaller.

God damn, the hoops you have to go through when your company doesn't have the advantages you were used to touting.

Well, according to you, just having next gen assets at 720p isn't worth buying a new console for:

The Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the water spout.
Down came the rain, and washed the spider out.
Out came the spin, and dried up all the doubt,
And the Itsy Bitsy Spider went up the thread again.

Of course it's real. Come on guys, you can see where I'm coming from. I understand that YOU guys can see it. I'm talking about how much of a difference it really is.

Well, you were quite concerned with streaming movies and tv, a medium that is much less resolution dependent since everything is highly supersampled, at 1080p over 720p (Netflix used to be 720p on Xbox 360 for a long time):

We now have 1080p with 5.1 audio, subtitles and alternative language tracks. Hooray.
That sounds like a downgrade from the dual band N adapter. I hope that doesn't impact 1080p streaming. And if it does i hope i can connect the adapter to the new box with no problem.
However, having 1080p, 5.1 and subtitles and really smooth fast streaming now makes up for it.

Everyone knows resolution makes much more difference in games vs. movies, so why the concern about 1080p streaming, but "not much of a difference" when resolution difference is in games?

Man, coldfoot is giving motherfuckers the business in this thread...
Lol they deserve it too. Just say that you enjoy your XBone, and that's it; coming up with all these goal post moves is just embarrassing. I don't knock someone's preference, but when you put stupid shit out there it comes back to bite you in the ass. There is no way in hell any rational person can say that the differences between these two versions are marginal; that is straight bullshit and you are in denial.

Not sure why you'd try and spin 720p as something that doesn't matter, especially in a game where draw distance is p. important.

720p in general is not good so I'm surprised to see huge mental gymnastics to defend or ignore the issue.

I'm not saying that he's right, but you seriously don't see/know the difference between playing and watching?

If the X1 one had missing effects, even more jaggies, blander colors and was 30fps, that is what I consider a big gap, something that is really noticeable during gameplay.

Though I can notice the increased aliasing on the X1 version, it is something that I have to look for.During gameplay I would not notice, it is still quite a nice leap over current gen and I'am still impressed by the X1's visuals, complaining about some jaggies just seems OCD and anally retentive.

Some of you should be pretty disgusted with the PS4 aswell because if the difference between if the X1 and PS4 is big then so is the difference between the PS4 and PC, the PS4 version still has jaggies!
So, for you personally, resolution is not important despite the fact that the jump between the two versions is larger than any difference in resolution we saw between last generation consoles.

Surely you can admit that, for a lot of folks, resolution is a very important issue.

Have the PC version which I play at 1600p on mainly ultra.

Picked up the XB1 version last night.

Night and day different. The PC version shits all over the XB1 version. It's not even close. The graphics are just that much better. But...

The XB1 version is a lot more fun. You know why? I get to play with a group of friends on the XB1 vs randoms on the PC.

So its your friends that are fun not the machine? Whats fucking friends got to do with it? They've blindly bought the expensive less powerful machine when as a collective you could have all been having fun on the cheaper much more powerful machine?

Fun?

People talk about jaggies, can you only imagine somebody who's got their TV set to Overscan On? I thought that option was a relic from....2006. Anyway, just got back from a friend's house who was gaming with the xbone while his somewhat old hdtv was overscanning. Thought that was kind of hilarious and told him how to fix it. 720p and overscanning on a 1080p hdtv, ewwww.
