Diablo 3 Release Date: May 15 [Orders & pre-loading up today]

No chance, if a console version is ever made it'll be a long while until it's finished. The devs said the computer version is the one being worked on, and if a console version is decided on it will be worked on when they are finished. Knowing how trustworthy devs are these days on matters like this (not very) anything is possible, but the facts are what they are.

Don't expect it soon.

They haven't announced it yet, but they are looking at it seriously, Blizzard never even considered an Starcraft 2 console port, and they've said from beginning that Diablo would be more suited. They build a console team, and are probably working on it right now.

Will it ever be released? Who knows. After the whole Starcraft: Ghost thing you just can't take anything console related for sure with Blizzard.

If they can't release it before 2014, I doubt they would even consider porting it. So I guess a the third or fourth quarter of 2013 is a good shot.

The difficult part, designing and creating the game is pretty much done with the exception of PVP, how long it would take to make a console port of it? Not too long I guess, but yeah expecting it this summer is just not logical at all.

Best news of the forever. And it comes out the week after finals!

I haven't pulled crazy consecutive hours (12+) at the PC since D2. Looks like that will be changing soon.

So, the StarCraft II stuff is online now:

The achievement for buying the CE (after the Blizzcon 2011 ones):

The decals (after the last paw one):

And the portraits (after the panda):

So, anyone know if Gamestop still has CE's left? I still need to preorder it.

Since the Battle.net upgrade a few years back, for all Blizzard games, you just have to input the CD-Key (if retail) on your account and that's what gives you access. You can download the client without restriction to any computer you want. The only downside of doing this, since you don't have an optical drive, would be having to download all ~7GBs after buying your retail copy which will probably take several hours at least, compared to less than an hour installing from the disc. If you're just getting a regular edition, you may want to go digital and pre-load.

You should be more than fine. Game runs fairly well (average 30-40 FPS, but there are dips) for me on my 2009 MBP with a video card that only has 256MB of RAM at 1920x1080 on an external monitor. Runs at an even higher FPS on the built-in display.

The only problem is that the current Mac client for the beta has issues that apparently weren't there before patch 14. It should be fixed by release though, as the game is almost completely unplayable on OS X currently. I've mostly been sticking to Bootcamped Windows 7. It's advantageous to have that option. Beta Patch 15 is coming tomorrow though, so I'll be sure to check performance out on OS X again then.

Sweet, thanks for the reply!!

If I pre-order, am I tied to either Windows or Mac? Or can I switch between them as long as I have a CD key? It didn't make it clear on the pre-order page.

The Blizzard game discs are always universal. And when you go to account management on Battle.net, you are always given the option to choose between a Mac client and Windows client if you're downloading the game from there. I had SC2, for example, installed on both my Mac side and Windows partition (as well as another computer) all at the same time. You can switch freely.

Blizzard should have gave everyone access to the beta who bought it DD through battle.net. Oh well I can wait 2 months for the real thing. The install prompt after the download is a HUGE cocktease!

Since this is the Diablo 3 pre-load therd I will ask here.

Could someone help me with this problem?

I bought the game and downloaded the installer.

I start the download of game (I choose to start s dministrator).

It says I have firewall blocking it when I have turned off Windos firewall and did the proper port forwarding on my router (its an old Linksys wired router)

So it downloads for awhile (about 2-3GB and then it restarts my PC).

What do I do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

ANYONE CAN HELP? ^ :(

If it's restarting your pc I'm honestly not sure what could cause that, firewall-related at least. Is the downloader overheating your pc somehow? Can you stop it after 2gb, then wait, then start the download again?

I dont know. I think you cant stop the download and start back from where you started. Its everything at once. Which sucks big time! :(

I really want to play the monk class but after reading up on people who have been playing the beta, the general consensus is that it's the weakest class with the worst resource managment due to skills costing so much spirit. Can anyone who's played the beta comment on the monk? Have they been nerfed that bad, because that doesn't really sound much fun. :(

Probably shouldn't make this a primary worry until the game comes out. There are still 2 months for them to balance things out prior to release. A lot can change in that time.

It may be losing the progress from the pc restarting, corrupting the files. The beta client lets you close/reopen the downloader and it picks back up from where you were, so I can't imagine the full client doesn't do that.

Edit: Mulligan, in the patch 14 beta, spirit gets eaten up quick if you spam the skills, but it also fills up super fast. I have no idea how it'll play out as the game goes on because you really don't NEED any of the spirit skills to get through the beta.

You could be right. But the problem remains that it wotn finish the download because it restarts the PC.

I gave up for today. Im gonna try again tomorrow. Hopefully this was just a random thing.

Thanks for the help

I think Monk will be a great choice later in the game because of survivability skills, healing, and +spirit regen over time and on hit (Hello 40 hit skills).
I wouldn't call Monk bad, just not as focused on raw DPS. Great mobility with dashing strike AND it roots. Remember Beta has been super limited and easy. Playing in the new section and dying it became apparent that you'll need to be more careful.

Monk has fewer time based CD's and that is very important to remember.

Favorite beta classes:
Barb
DH
Monk
Wiz
WD

I'll be playing Monk on release.

you can start it and then stop and continue on from the same point later. when you reload the installer you just need to click the same folder you started the first download from. as for the restarting go to windows error log thing and see whats going your computer to restart. i believe somewhere in that menu theres an option to restart your pc when an error occurs. if you turn that off your pc will stop restarting and you can actually see whats messing up. it may be overheating and restarting to save your cpu

But does the game support cross-plataform? Like PC and MAC playing together at the same time?

Searched for this answer everywhere but couldnt find... everybody just said they would release the game for both plataforms at launch...

Instead of disabling the firewall, create an exception for the download client in the firewall settings. That should solve your problem.

If it doesn't there'll be cries of bloody murder.

Pretty sure every bnet game they've released on both platforms have supported playing both platforms together. Probably no one mentions it because almost no one's even thought to question it.

There are no such thing as Mac and PC servers for Blizzard games.

In fact, when the game is released on consoles, expect them to connect to the same battle.net as everyone else too.

That might be a bit.. weird. I'm all in favour of cross platform, but I seriously have my doubts that play with a controller won't make for a very different experience that won't mesh well with pc players.

I just don't think Blizzard would go through the trouble of unifying it's 3 flagship franchises through battle.net 2.0 and then split it's userbase when new platforms enter the mix. They'll make it work.

I hope the CE comes with the actual regular box inside it too. Was disappointing not to have the regular box when I bought SC2

Only now saw your post.

The thing was that I already had done the exception on the firewall. But on the installer had a message in yellow saying my firewall was doing something (dont remember the exact message).

All I know is that this morning it worked (with firewall on). So Im happy! :)

I get this message on Blizzard downloaders regardless of how much port forwarding or disabling of firewalls I do on my end. I think it's my ISP (Comcast) throttling it.

I have the annual pass free Diablo thingy - so I can go d/l D3 now?

edit: what the fuck - I already signed up for the annual pass and it's acting like I haven't. Goddammit.

Seriously debating getting the CE.

I basically never pre-order things, they only charge the pre-order when it ships, right?
I'm just like you, but then I realised I've been waiting 11 years for this game and I also remembered the thousands of hours of joy I got out of D1/Hellfire and D2/LoD. So I figured, what the hell!

This is my 3rd pre-ordered game ever, 1st one was Demon's Souls and the 2nd, Dark Souls.
