Did you use to be an edgelord?

In 1999 my first pseudo was Cloud, then I went with DarkCloud because it sounded so cool and it was also the name of a boss in old FFs so bonus points for hardcore knowledge. Then it became DarkCloud2000 because the apocalypse was upon us.
So yeah, I win. The cringe is real.
I was 14

My first email was dark_wildfire@yahoo.com

It was 1997 and I was 16 and...

Let's be friends, fellow dark lord of the edge.

5_xXFirestormXx_5

i was the coolest neopets user

Edit: Also went by 'darkknight' on a game called BOTS! years ago. It wasn't in reference to Batman either, I just thought being an evil 'dark' Knight was cool. I was 12

How many of you read fanfictions and a huge number of them very early on feature a dark/hooded/shadowy/cloaked figure smirking as he/she/it observed the heroes from a distance?

Read them? I used to write them.

My DeviantArt account will never see the light of day ever again.

I started to write a novel like that, it was supposed to be my road to glory. And that's actually when I realized I needed to grow up.
It was about vampires, because I was a huge Ann Rice fan. Then the first Twilight book came out and I thought "ok vampires are dead for at least a decade, time to move on".

A few years back, I convinced my friend to make his PSN ID RaptorOmegaFactor. Gnarliest fucking name, and he still uses it. I mean, it's ironic, but still...

I'm shocked I didn't, actually. Always stuck with my real name, although that it starting to bite me hard in the ass now.

Used to be 'Goldfire' in OG starcraft. which is not nearly as edgy as some, but still. what is it with teenage boys and fire and shadows.

EDIT: I never did the x's or the numbers though, so i think i deserve some credit for holding on to that bit of taste

"KillingSarge13" was my OG gamertag when I was 12. Upgraded to "KamikazeWolf13" at some point. Held "TheEccentricity" at one time.

When the did the old username dump on Xbox live I grabbed my real name.

Me and you are now friends. You and I? I and he?

Don't you talk to me about grammar!

Edgelord? Pfft, in a way it's worse: total fan.

Everywhere, all the time. *Ilovedthisbeforeitwascoolireadthevizreleasesyo*

GAMBiT when I was 16 was as close as I got. Other that, I always had kind of odd geeky names like cleeve and cheesefred.

I've solely used the digitalrelic moniker for over 10 years though.

During the OG Xbox and 360 my gametag was my nickname and during the matches a lot of players where yelling over the mic "no one is helping" "no one is defending" your classic "I'm doing everything no one is helping" nonsense.

So I changed it to "No One" and when they started yelling for example "No One is defending the base!" I would answer " I know, some help would be nice" and the rest of the guys would laugh, or at least there would be some small change in the tone.

God no, I was a sensible boy and had the foresight to pick a name that I would be okay in using and keeping.

Plus being edgy just isn't in my nature as I am a happy go lucky guy.

I trolled the shit out of people in EverQuest as a Shadow Knight by the name of "Darkbane" ... I wasn't obscene, just a total asshole (training npcs and then feigning death all of them onto entire raids... wiping out 50+ people at a time, etc...).

But when I was 13 I had StarCraft guild called "Shadow Archons" and my handle was "ShadowLordXIII" ... so ...

lol I swore to myself that I would never introduce a character like that, after reading 10+ fics with that set up it became toxic to me.

Never edgy... Just geeky. But ive been using a variation of Soma or Kira since forever.

SomaXD is my primary goto... And named after the anime: Argento Soma, and the XD is from an old Comic Book imprint called Studio XD (which is now known as Udon! Lol)

I got Kira from Death Note (one of my favorite manga, even have DN tattoos lol)

.... i switch between the two.

I'm a girl, so my equivalent of 'edgelord' was 'lol random cutesy' which is just as bad imo.

...my usernames have never reflected that though because I had the foresight to think "If this ends up being embarrassing, at least it's not public and permanent"

This also caused me to be less....cringe-worthy than some people I've met in the time between then and now.

do i wanna know what these look like

a lot of girls i knew in high school had names like xXitzlizzybaybeeXx or something like that

Oh, man...lol

I remember changing my steam handle SOOOO many fucking times during MW2.

"end|Line" was one, then I got my ass beat HARD and changed it to "RoyalFlush" , then got switched to "SLEEPS7ALK3R" ... it just keeps going...

Yeah, I'm fucking edgecellent.

Oh yeah, absolutely. 12 year old me was the edgiest of lords. All my sentences finished with an ellipsis... Sometimes I'd name my Ragnarok Online characters Dark Magus or some shit.
My username is a leftover from that era which I kept because of inertia.

I have had this tag for a very, very long time...

But my character in Diablo 2 was a necromancer called SephirothsAngel.

Ugh... So many awful character names.

Nah. I was sheltered as a kid

My Origin and Uplay name is xKingCrimson69x just to be ironic because who gives a fuck, it's Uplay and Origin

Is that Superman with a Katana in your Avatar?

I used OsamaBinLaden as a name for Counter Strike (pre 9/11) and in C&C Generals (post 9/11). Raphael was also my favourite Ninja Turtle.

My tag in everything is FigNewton which is pretty safely outside the edgelord category. It would have even been FigNewton here if the first attempt at registration was rejected for unknown reasons. Since the rejection was generic about "not meeting registration requirements" I just changed everything I could (mainly user ID and email address iirc).

Except in EverQuest where there were rules about naming and that wouldn't fly. So my full name in EQ was Notwen Gif. Most people never even realized and it never tripped the GMs need to change it so that was good.

I did play "undercover" on a Q3 server a few times as "neverborn" (taken from the Wheel of Time) but that was just a convenient fake name.

Luckily i dodnt start online gaming till iwas into my mid 20s (im old i guess lol) and have only used 2 names and still use both.

TheGodOfWine is great, i get people asking me if its from greek mythology and people asking if its after a 3rd Eye Blind song...and its a little of both
