Did you use to be an edgelord?

Nope, I've always hated that attitude for as long as I can remember. I was super nerdy and had a Digimon reference as my first AOL screen name.

I once joined a forum with the username Sephiroth_clone and avatar based on this image:

nWroOd8.jpg

At least it wasn't xxx_Sephiroth_clone_xxx

Not online or in games.

For the record, my username is because I heard the words "code red" in Toy Story, and thought it sounded cool, but didn't like the color. I'm CPR certified now, so it's all good.

I used to go by dark_dewgong when I was younger.

Pokemon was cool but I needed to toughen it up so I added dark at the beginning so you knew I cool.

Out of all the pokemon to edge the fuck up, you chose Dewgong?

Dewgong, dude?

Man every time I read your posts I just think "this guy can't be a real person."

Trust me these people are real. It's like they've got Benjamin Button's disease or something where they age in reverse.

Nah, I've always been kind of surly, but edgy? Not so much. My first BBS handle was an Animaniacs reference.

Not really?

I mean, my first ever online username was RaptorSenior, so named because I tried looking up Thief Lord in a shitty English to Latin translator and got that out of it. Then I changed it to Figments, after an IRC in-joke, then Daikatana (which it still is on Steam, I think), and now it's HarmonEpsilon on XBL.

Most of my usernames came from in-jokes or characters from things I'd write in my spare time.

Though I guess you could say I'm "edgy" because I find a lack of conflict and competition to be completely and utterly boring, in both video games and in real life. If everything were all happy all the time, I'd get super tired of it really fast. I need to see conflict, yo.

Also, I can't stand people who want to be happy all the time. The negative emotions are still part of being human, yo. Embrace that shit. Reaffirms you're alive and not some weird fucking doll that can only handle so much pressure.

No, unless having "Kewl" in my name makes me edgy.

Reaper is my favorite attack character to use in Overwatch, and red and black are my favorite colors, so I might have some edge in me.

I think my first ever nickname was steveman because my first name is Steve... In my 10+ years of CS I had about 30 nicknames I think.

Me? Edgy? Ohoho you, I would never be edgy.

I can't believe I remember the password to that. Also, is "NawtKool" edgy?

I don't know how i managed to survived the edgelord years (2004-2008). I knew a lot of people that had something Matrix-related, or "Dark-something" on their counter-strike nicknames. Or straight up "Aragorn".

Even in MSN, 60% of the nicknames (or the sentence that was below it) was a verse from Boulevard of Broken Dreams from Green Day.

"I walk a lonely road. The only one that I've ever known"
"My shadow's heart's the only thing that beating..."
"Until then I walk alone"

EVERY.TIME.

Me and my close friends were all nuts with medieval/nordic stuff, RPGs and LOTR. We even started writing a book LOL well i gues i survived thanks to that.

I loved the word "dude" back when I was a teenager so I used Super Dude or TheDude as nicknames online
I live in a spanish-speaking country, so that word was new and funny to me at that time
.

My cousin's GT on Halo was Shinukawa, which in Japanese means... something evil something, I forget, but whenever we'd play online people would just call him Shaniqua. Made him sad.

That's some serious edge breh

OT: I had my goth phase, posted some stupid shit in internet forums....the usual stuff. Handles were mostly innocuous though.

Shinu = to die
Kawa = river

I could only guess he was trying to go for "DeathRiver" or something. Hard to say. Kawa could mean a ton of different things depending on the kanji but river is the most common as a noun.

Or maybe "River of death?" Still kinda silly.

Never an edgelord, which is pretty surprising I remained fairly clean despite 4 years of 4chan from high school into my first year of university.

My main names were rako5788, Wowzerdude (RuneScape and RuneScape only), and TheDude1212. Since 2011 I've been making my brand name Brofield (except some stupid fucks elsewhere online keep taking it so I sometimes have to settle with MrBrofield)

Still am!

Haha! The @ is like Edge101.

I may not have had a cool handle like some people here, but I did used to have curtains, write poetry, shop at Hot Topic and worship Jhonen Vasquez comics...

Vasquez is still alright, though.

My username always has been some variation of my real name, so not really edgy.

I used to be in a clan called Reapers of Sorrow though, I came up with that name.... that was pretty edge lord.

well...
My first mmorpg nick was RestInPieces, no regrets

but during my shooter phase, more specifically Wolfenstein:ET is when things got serious.
My Nick was Drake, but since I played for many different clans, and also became the leader of one, the Tags kept adding on... than add some leet and voilà
[D2NSA]Dr4k3[EG-HC] was born

The worst offense known to mankind.

One I committed recently. My old GT had "360" on the end. The name I wanted to change to was taken (one I tried to get it originally on day 3 of XBL existing and some f**ker beat me to it) so in a deliberately ironic twist, I've gone for xx <my initials> xx. With hindsight It makes me feel a bit sick tbh but I didn't have any other ideas.

No, my young version was cool. My first ever gaming tag (CS1.6 and Operation Flashpoint) was: Private Cocksucksky. Would still use it, but my MP days are long gone.

I've pretty much always had non-sensisicle names, comprised of something I've seen with OK or LOL attached to the end.

Occasionally I'd have joke ones, PeterFile (and it's various iterations thanks to complaints) was my name in WoW for years (Priest main).

I think the edgiest I ever got was when I posted on the Square Gamer forum. After the announcement of Final Fantasy XI I had a running list of friends and enemies that I would have in the game along with a picture of me trying to look cool in a tuxedo.

Yeah I remember my MSN messenger username when I was 12 was "TheKilla" and I always activated the option so other people could see that I was listening to metal and stuff.

Funny thing about my current username: a lot of people think it's related to the famous guitarrist, but about the same age one friend and I were addicted to Pokemon Gold and decided to use attack names as the base for a cool username and thus ScratchBoy and SlashBoy were born.

As I grew older I decided to get rid of the "boy" part and add some random numbers.

I'm praying for a PSN name change.

Used to play Call of Duty World at War with some cool kids from school..... Thought we were the shit, decided to build a clan. Everyone's name was xXTheProdigyXx followed by a number. Would all play together and act like the coolest group of assholes. Then have our moms pick up Modern Warfare 2 when it came out.

I don't play on Xbox anymore.

I've always been edgy as fuck. I was just so post-edge that nobody realized it.

I started off with online gaming, forums and stuff around 12 years old naming myself Ukiki, after the monkey enemy in Mario Bros. games. I still use it in Pokémon.

My ffxi character was named Shiinpu. Just a random cute-ish name I thought of modified from "simple." I got called shampoo and shrimpu sometimes.

Since about 15 years old I became enamored with the show FLCL and even more so with The Pillows, who did the soundtrack, so I started going with HappyBivouac. It's a great album. I do recall that in high school, I stayed the hell away from all the anime kids because they wore trench costs or whatever the hell and listened to Gackt and I can't remember the other super edgy visual kei bands.
they also smelled bad

Oh yeah...

I remember describing myself as dark & mysterious on a gaming forum that thankfully doesn't exist anymore when I was younger. I was trying to emulate Kratos' persona (from tales of symphonia), I thought he was the coolest character ever. Also had some pretty cringy email names like some variation of "sin and punishment" (never even played the game). I specifically remember a friend of mine calling me out on MSN messenger and I made up some bullshit excuse about it being a dare... I was quite embarrassed and it was probably when I phased out.

You're basically coldsteel the hedgehog.
