Initial cut-scene on PS5 now has worse performance than it was at launch, otherwise mostly identical.

On Xbox Series X:
-The lowest resolution found was 2112x1188p in that torch section, but it's now locked at 60fps
-2304x1296p instead of 2560x1440p in the hut for stable 60fps
-Runs at a lower resolution than PS5 (the PS5 bottoms out at 1440p)

The quality mode is native 4K on Series X and PS5. No resolution drops were noticed, 30fps capped
-Camera angle change stutters are still present
-Cut-scene camera stutters have not been fixed either on Microsoft consoles & PC

Performance Mode (60fps) on Xbox Series S:
-Resolution generally around 720p, sometimes slightly above 800p
-Frame-rate is better than pre-patch Series X but worse than PS5

Great summation on frame rate results OP. Now about that frame rate...

Anyone see border linneman freak out and swear off his ps5 version yesterday?

I guess I was wrong. It did look like they messed up the PS5 version where in certain scenes where it barely dropped fps it is dropping to mid 50s. I'm still baffled that XSX has to drop resolution lower than PS5 as they are quiet close in performance.

Still impressed by this generation launch games as they are generally better than last gen.

The Series S part of this video comparing it to Series X was interesting. Series S pushing the X for 60 fps performance?

Yeah, must have been some patch installation issues on PS5. Just the initial cut scene was the biggest hit according to the video. They didn't say it had worse tearing.

Ppl, please don't shoot the messengers. Its really not that serious.

This patch achieves console parity. Ps5 performance has been brought closer to series X. Mission accomplished.

I don't think they made any changes to the PS5 version though. It's the XSX that had the change made to the resolution range to eliminate screen tearing and to reach 60FPs more often. It was just a quick fix.

Ps5 is pushing 45% more pixels at same frame. This is no parity lol

Lowering the resolution is the good call in order to get to a stable frame rate, especially when the game tears so much every time it drops below 60. And the 30 fps mode I guess makes up for that if you want image clarity and don't mind 30 fps.

Alex must have been relieved, much less hand-drawing of torn frames this time around :messenger_grinning:

Looks like that's basically the extent on what they did on XSX though, recalibrate the dynamic resolution scaling to have -resolution and +frame rate. In other words,

  • The performance mode on XSS in 60fps was possible by lowering the resolution to 720p even if it is around 800p in game with sometimes drops to 720p.
  • Sometimes even in 720p on XSS there are frames drops in performance mode.
  • The framerate of the XSS is better than that of the XSX before the patch, but still worse than that of the PS5.
  • At first glance the PS5 version did not change much after the patch, the only noticeable change is in the first cutscenes where the framerate drops a bit compared to the base version.
  • Solid framerate on XSX, the tearing always occurs during a sudden camera change.
  • This framerate & tearing improvement is at the expense of a lower resolution on XSX, it goes from 1440p to 1188p which is not the case of the PS5.
  • The quality mode is nice for those who do not need 60fps.
  • The quality mode is in 4K native that it is on PS5 or XSX in 30fps, they did not notice any drop of framerate on this mode.
  • Camera issues (stutters) have not been fixed on Xbox and PC.

Neogaf is now suddenly keen on median over averages concerning range data. Meanwhile, outside of gaf, sony fans crying foul.

1188p? Really? That was the fix?

While running as low as 720p though.
That was a reference to someone saying the Series S was gonna be pushing the PS5 hard. 😝

I agree about the res drop if that makes it run better. At this point, it is what it is.

The latest video from redgamingtech

The gpu computation potential of ps5 (higher gpu frequency, which is surprising in terms of results, raster triangle, pixel fill rate...) its unified cpu cache as its memory. The PS5 dominates in the comparisons of the first multiplatform games and that without the vrr, without oodle, without the geometry engine (house equivalent of the features rdna2 + exclusive features) him not yet mastered, whereas on XSX the vrr and vrs are already used (additional proof that there is no real delay).

So every platform will be entitled to perfs optimizations, not only the XSX as some people seem to imagine. By the way, redgamingtech points out that the potential for future improvements is greater on PS5. The argument tools/drivers/devkit in delays... etc doesn't really hold, some devs from codemasters have already denied this and several factual facts.

A reduction in resolution is NOT optimization.
Optimization would vê improving the resolution while keeping the same quality/resolution.
Ubi can't really find any place to improve their code?

No. Optimization is kinda a mix of polish the code and settings change.

Now, if this game have a decent optimization is another story.

eh, XSX runs now at a much higher and more consistent FPS and a higher average FPS. How is PS5 better? Lol
The resolution difference can’t be noticed anyways, since it’s very rare and most of the time the same.
What you notice however if you have a higher FPS.

Xbox Series X having to lower resolution to keep up with Playstation 5 is just priceless.
Keep up? It runs the game at higher FPS

suddenly FPS don’t matter. Only RES:
