Digital Foundry's John Linneman: Talked to multiple developers who have confirmed it's difficult to scale games to Xbox/PS4 base hardware.

Is the PS4 holding back PS5 development? Could this be why we haven’t had a PS5 deep dive? Is the PS5 in trouble?

No, it’s not, and neither is the XB1. If a developer is choosing to support current gen consoles as well as next gen then they’re going to have to plan accordingly. It’s a good thing that neither Sony or Microsoft are forcing devs to make their games cross generation.

Your thread title has ahm nothing to do with the tweet in the OP at all. They sure wanna develop on the new HW. And seems like nobody is forcing them to make the new games crossgen

The thread title makes as much sense as the one that says that devs are having trouble scaling from the Series X to the XB1, since the tweet talks about both XB1 and PS4.

I’m having a good old sensible chuckle at the usual suspects that can’t see the point of this thread. One of them even calls himself Mr PlayStation lol.

The point of this thread was to show that the other thread was deliberately misleading to make one console look bad when the actual news that the tweet talked about was that BOTH consoles are causing problems.

Mod of War Mod of War

Talks to the mods if you think the original needs a change.
OR you could let the mods do their job and not worry about it.

This thread is pathetic. You don't understand how it would be more difficult for developers to HAVING TO scale their game from Xbox One tot Series X, instead of developing a game for 1 console iteration (PS5)? It's about MS demanding there's no nextgen-only games and Sony doing the the way it's always been done: you want next-gen gaming? Buy the new box.

ps. f*ck these reactionary threads, it makes this forum seem juvenile like the Myspace page of a 13 year old.

This is how it could easily be done have been as the other thread is clearly nonsense as it only says xbox when it absolutely clearly says both ps4 and xbox one.

Talk about having an agenda!

Playstation isn't dragging the PS4 into the next-gen. They believe in generations
That's why one company is worth a Trillion and another is not. MM could easily scale on ps4 hell SM ps4 looked great and your gonna cut your own dick and lose out on millions and millions? that is all...

Don't know what is the problem:
you target the next gen only, no need to worry about the previous one;
you target both gen, you made the game for the weaker gen, then upscale and improve framerate and effects.

Really, where is the problem?
