[Digital Foundry] Flight Simulator Hands-On

Mother of God! this game's features are simply amazing! real-time weather, real-time flight patterns, can visit the entire world with incredible realism.

It's true though. Show me a PC or Xbox game that's as good as TLOU2 on a technical level, with the level of attention to detail as that game, with incredibly detailed contextual animations, the sound design, the interactivity & AI routines, facial animations, effects work, physics, and more... I'll post some e.g. as well.

The game is a whole package. And there's nothing akin to that on PC, sadly.

So yeah based on that, next-gen starts when ND reveals their next-gen game. Nothing against Flight Sim, it looks amazing. But a ND game has a lot more stuff going for it from a technical standpoint.

You are probably one of those that cried while playing the game.

Yup. Problem?
Lol no problem, just shows what you think a game is.....to each their own. I think its just a boring simulator that will eat up your data and make no impact on the gaming world. I need great gameplay....but that my opinion....enjoy the simulator bro....the clouds look fantastic.

You think Flight Simulator is a SIMULATOR?
Please, detective, tell me how you arrived at such a groundbreaking conclusion.

I was one of those who thought RDR2 looked more impressive before playing TLOU2. But after having spent hundreds of hours in RDR2 on both PS4 and PC. And then playing TLOU2, I can say TLOU2 is still a cut above RDR2 on Ultra. Facial animations alone are in a league of its own in TLOU2.

*comes into flight simulator thread*
people talking about naughty dog.

I was mainly working on my boat Today. It got pretty hot later on so i decided to take a dip in the lake and test out my swimming functionality on the apple watch. Had a nice carpaccio salad as dinner. Overall sunny day too.

Anyone here tried playing crysis on the switch ? I can't believe they ported that game.

Dude.. just no. I won't even engage in this rhetoric. See ya when TLoU2 comes to PC.

Keep out of the 'next gen' thread if i were you. The current rhetoric is Flight Simulator 'doesnt count' as its a flying game. So basically we have to ignore this games graphics and pretend it doesn exist :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Here are just a few examples of the attention to detail in ND's games. The tech.
Because a simulator that has high-quality satellite images of the Earth, real-time weather conditions based on location(as in, look outside and Flight Simulator will reproduce the weather where you are located), streams petabytes of data over the cloud and allows you to travel the globe is less advanced than TLOU2 because it has less contextual animations and doesn't allow you to pick up a bottle.

lol.

If you wanted to brag about interactivity, you should have chosen BOTW. It puts every Sony game to shame in that department.

Bugger off with your Naughty Dog and PlayStation guff. This is a thread about an xbox/PC game.

Some of you just can't help yourself.

Game looks fantastic, but I'm sure id be bored rigid. I will of course try it out on gamepass, because why not?

The problem with this simulator, is that unless you're a hardcore flight guy, the novelty will wear off quite fast.
And if you dont like football, you wont like Fifa. If you dont like cars, you wont like Forza, if you dont like horror, you wont like horror games, if you dont like puzzles, you wont like puzzle games, etc, etc, etc.
The lengths people are going to try and 'cancel' this game, is beyong a joke.
Flight Simulator sure has ruffled some feathers.

Its coming to Xbox one? Also what fidelity are you talking about? Cities look great at a distance and the streaming is very impressive tech, but the moment you get close its another story. You realize that right?

Showing up close looks amazing as the game streams in even grass blades for the terrain. Not sure what you are getting at.

looks amazing... but isnt it boring just fly from a to b to c?

It could be for people wanting to dogfight and shoot planes down. But I'm sure MS has many companies making aircraft mods for the sim which will more than likely include extensions to the game core.

I'm studying to be a pilot in RL so this is perfect for me.

Love the tech involved with MS Flight, truly innovative and intelligent use of Azure cloud and rendering tech. Real time simulation of global flights, weather and more. Straight up brilliant. Once again pilots will be enabled to actually log hours in MS Flight for their license.

Oh but muh Naughty Dog. See the bolded? This whole thread is doing just that The tech in FS2020 is light years ahead of any ND soap opera.

Looks pretty sweet. The cpu bound nature makes this a next gen game exclusively, jags would not be able to run the simulation.

I'd give it a shot if it were available on my preferred platform, or if XsX enters the mix with free online.
