So, my initial impressions after first hour of Dirt 3.
Nice job Codemasters. Loving, just loving the Brit-electro-pop tracks that gives so much atmosphere to the game. Also, I love the classical British accent on voiceovers is back. Thank you for those small touches.
I love the GUI, it reminds me on old days of Colin McRae Rally games - with modern twist. I will miss real-time animated service area forever, but nevermind that - you did a good job here. Triangles and pyramids are nice designer idea. Also, despite initial mandatory install (PS3 version here) I will not say a word regarding loading times. Very bearable.
I love 5-steps setups, reminds me of the first CMR game. I love fast reloading of stages and I really love stages. Old-school vibrance of past times is here again, shame you didn't use all DIRT and DIRT2 stages for rally, it would make a perfect addition to new venues.
Great job done on handling model, I play with the wheel exclusively (G25, will try Fanatec GT2 tomorrow) and I love it. Much better than Dirt 2, I congratulate on now almost instinct option to change wheel-handling settings from pause menu (including force feedback settings). I feel the road, I can prepare for the turn and I can feel the actual weight-transfer - which is the most important in my book - and react accordingly.
Although central-pivot turning is still there - 15 years of consecutive tradition and counting - I have no problem with it. Even without 4-point handling suspensions feel alive and physics are convincing. Not a RBR by any mean, but we all know that there is only one RBR - and times of such games are long gone unfortunately.
I love the car selection, Pokemon-time again, especially with all those oldies there. Kadett is my personal favorite, beautiful piece of old-school machinery.
I love the small details around the track, particles, lights effects, crowd that runs off the track and beautiful nature. So far, I have seen only Finland and Kenya, and both look great. What I don't like is presence of legendary PisFilt, but I guess one day you will magically realize that having yellow filter and increased bloom (later less pronounced than in D2) does not increase graphics-quality.
But I love the damage model, damage animations and damage sounds. This game screams "Codemasters" from it's every part and that is great.
> Thank you for constant support of my Small Country for the Gran Turismo I just hope Rally Croatia and our beautiful nature represented in Dirt 2 will not be forgotten
> Car selection/rooster is awesome. Great job there, can't wait to get some time to test-ride all these beauties
> Pre Race-Menu. Love what you did with GUI, options to change settings in real-time and animations of nature
I will be having more fun tomorrow when I'll be going through career unlocking all venues I can with time on my disposal. Can't wait to get my hands on finished product.
Will not post in-game screens for NDA reasons, this phone-cam-quality snaps are here just to provoke discussion. Initial conclusion - this is shaping to be the best Dirt so far. Didn't expect nothing less and all I can say is that I can't wait to see the moment when next GRID will see the lights. This version of EGO engine and expected return to old-school hard-core roots of touring racing will certainly be a day to celebrate.
You can change both steering saturation and steering linearity, making steering-lock more/less faster/responsive. I prefer loose setup - it is a rally game after all - but I presume that Advanced Steering options will suffice for every type of players.

180 degrees with a wheel in dirt 2 (and f1 2010) is a joke. they need to copy what slightly mad studios did with shift 2 and give us the option to set the steering lock 0-900
